These houses were way too nice to demolish! Yet another piece of history erased in the name of progress..... 😢 The wood doors and curved trim surrounding them were incredibly beautiful. I was relieved to see the written sign saying that the stairway and carved Newell post were to be saved! Thank you so much for documenting these beautiful pieces of history! We also really enjoyed the pictures of the Ford plant! I wish you were doing videos at the time you explored it, but your photos did a fantastic job capturing the different parts of the plant. Thanks again for sharing. You rock!!!! 👍
Ya, these were some really nice homes, especially that first one. Wish I had been doing video at the time of my visit to the Ford plant as well but glad you enjoyed the photos. Thank you very much for your comment!!
What a wonderful way to end my day!!!! I really enjoyed this video!! I can’t get enough of these old homes!! It’s sad to see them going away though 😢 The woodwork and those stairs!!!! I’m so glad you got to video them before they are gone❤ I like the big windows too!! I enjoyed the pictures at the end of the factory also Glad you put them in!! I always enjoy your videos and still shots❤. Be safe!! Pam❤️
I agree, the woodwork in the first house was incredible. I figured the photos of the Ford plant worked for this location since it was in the same area and is the same industry as the new factory being built. Glad you enjoyed it Pam and thanks a lot for your comment!!
Such beautiful homes! Unfortunately no builder today makes homes like these. It is so unfortunate that these old homes are being torn down. Thank you for showing them to us!
Oh I agree, we will never see homes like this built again. Labour has just become far too expensive for that. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks so much for your comment!!
I love the older homes and in my opinion find the craftsmanship excellent 👍 and have such history and quality. We want have them much longer in the world sadly they are a dying breed 😢 Thanks for the video ❤😊 Georgia Fan 👍
It would have been so cool to be able to go back in time and see both of these houses in their prime, such beautiful woodwork, big windows, all the staircases, just so much..... one great thing to know is a lot was salvaged to use again, lucky persons who would get to use that trim wow. Thanks James, hope the premier was a fun one for all who were there for you. Great photos BTW!
Ya, it's good that they salvaged a lot of those materials...I did find it interesting that they spent so much time salvaging items from the second farmhouse that was so modern. Glad you enjoyed it Polly and thanks so much for your comment!!
Hi James! Came back to catch the rest of the video that I missed during the live broadcast. So worth coming back for. I do love these old farm houses. Such a sin to demolish them, but obviously the countryside has more space to build on and these places are sitting empty. At least there seems to be some salvage going on, in that first one at least because the woodwork is incredible. Sad (but very interesting!) to see places like this being torn down, especially when you see what’s happening in Los Angeles at the minute! Thanks very much for the video and photos!
Ya, I mean these houses were lived in before the properties were purchased. But it does make far more sense to demolish a few farmhouses as opposed to hundreds of homes in a city...plus land value comes into play as well. Yes, what's happening in LA is absolutely insane, I hope they get things under control!! Glad you enjoyed it Stephanie and thanks a lot for your comment!!
The first house had a beautiful entryway, beautiful doors and stairs. It was very strange, it was part demolition and new construction that was never completed. I think I like the first house the best, it had more character. It’s a shame to see them being demolished but I guess out with the old in with the new. Great video James. ❤
Ya, that entryway and the upper hallway were just incredible. I get the feeling they were in the middle of finishing that addition when they got word about the home being bought. That back porch was brand new concrete. Glad you enjoyed it Harriet and thanks a lot for your comment!!
Too bad the houses are not moved to another location. Think of the carbon footprint to tear them down, build an enormous factory to build batteries to ironically save the planet.
I believe we have had 1-2 new EV manufacturing projects in this province that were cancelled as well. I don't blame people at all for not wanting those things. Thank you very much for your comment!!
You would think they could find other land to build a stupid plant that didn't have to destroy such beautiful homes. I'll never own an electric car. I don't travel far but I still wouldn't like having to to along time to charge my vehicle.
Yup, charging times as well as frequency is a big issue with those vehicles. Imagine coming back from a trip on a long weekend and having to charge your car and then standing in line for a charger...it could take hours. Lol Thank you very much for your comment!!
It's so sad that heritage house being demolish .old houses aren't supposed to unless the was extentive remolds repairs. It didn't look like anything was done. Which doesn't matter it's still a shame .!!!
I would just like to add. Do you think it's possible to let me know when they build the battery building. So, this would say if, when and how they are going to be doing it. And it's not just a story on their part? Thanks!!!
Are these homes in Oklahoma? I'm asking because it was on the news this morning that they are going to build something like that in Oklahoma. It is supposed to employ several thousand people.
This genuinely pains me. Italianate is one of my favorite architectural styles. The house shown would be one of my dream homes. I hope it gets salvaged at least so that it can be used to restore other old homes. Demolishing it outright is so wasteful. The craftsmanship that can’t be replicated easily shouldn’t be thrown away. If I could I would take the entire building to a new place.
Ya, I was happy to see they were salvaging a lot of the home but still disappointed to see it go in the first place. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
This is just crazy. Were the houses bought through emenent domain? Why would these owners have sold? It looked like the one house was in the middle of a major addition? Both houses appeared to have had some historical sugnificance to tthe area. It is such a shame that the city want to protect them instead of just see the dollars that the factory has the potential to bring in. Which seems ify at this point with the waining of EV's.
Not sure if the government forced them to sell or if a company offered them a boat load of money for the property. Either way, I would be surprised if you could say no to either scenario. The first home was designated but for whatever reason, they still allowed it to be demolished. I agree about the EV thing, there has already been one or two other plant cancellations in the same province. Thanks very much for your comment!!
Yes, I watched a short documentary on VW recently and they are not doing well at all. I am now convinced that our government just likes to waste our money. 😆 Thank you very much for your comment!!
Are you sure they're going to buildingb battery factory . For what it seems like a false oretense to demo. And take what they can get.out of it . Can you please give the quotes as to what they are saying or not???
@@StaticSpaces ok but do you really think that will save the planet or anything to that effect especially when global warming has already done insurmountable damage to the ozone layer? And is going to change the inhabitants of this earth?!! C'mon

Ontario Canada
Nope, not in the US...I think there are a lot of projects like this going on right now. Thank you very much for your comment!!
In the USA if a house or building is put on the historic list you can't destroy those houses and buildings once they get put on that list in the USA
That is usually the case here too, so I am really not too sure what happened with this house...maybe there were some under the table dealings

It's kinda hard to move a big house to another place vrs smaller homes . I just don't know if it's possible.
Warum wurde es nicht umgestellt

100% sure they are planning a giga factory, along with other industrial buildings on the large parcel of land
