You guys really need to start testing Mickey Thomson Baja Boss AT tires I've been able to do things I couldn't do before with those tires on my Raptor, they are pretty incredible. And now with the snow the last few weeks I'm equally impressed as ive been on all other surfaces, mud is just not fun anymore!!! I'm about ready to put them on my wife's Ford Edge
@@timpearson4040 I’m running Baja Bosses on my Pro-4X and love them too. Awesome traction, great look, but a little noisy as they age (I have 40K on mine already).
@4rr44E Mine have about
10k no issues yet, a suggestion, ZZ Top or Van Halen on 10 all tire noise dissappears!
So, with the savings on buying the Frontier, invest in better, slightly larger all terrain tires, and you'll get a truck that is 95% equivalent to the Ranger Raptor? The real comparison should be with the standard Ranger at a similar price point with the 2.7L V6 engine. That would be interesting to see.
Not even close to as capable. Unless you’re taking about slow crawling.
Can we see the pro 4x on the slip test?? Proud new owner of 2023 pro 4x. It has 14k on it picked it up for 34k. Still feels looks and smells brand new. I'm loving it.
Where is the GM Zr2 or even the lower Z71.
my 23.5 pro4x with stock suspension and tires has been on forest trails and also down the beaches of the outer banks [north carolina] - i love this truck.
23.5 introduced larger battery and auto stop start so it is different than the early 23's - fyi
I love this place can you please try the Chevy colorado ZR2 and the Tacoma trd pro
Need the same test with an XLT FX4
@@Ramblin_Rob exactly, that would be a fair comparison.
I would take the frontier all day over the ford the only negative to the frontier is the payload the Nissan is a lot more reliable then that twin turbo ford and the Nissan will be a lot easier to work on
Both are good trucks. However, you cant beat the fun factor of the Ranger Raptor. It’s like comparing Mary Ann to Ginger.
Fun stops where complexity begins.
Good analogy - the Ford is Ginger.
I know Ford explained why they used a 33”. But if the BRaptor is using 37”, then I need to see one of these with the same tire.
The Ranger is still the ultimate all rounder, off road mid size truck !!
I love your guys' channel you guys always say Nissan is such a good brand. That I know of in the whole time you guys have had your RUclips shows. I think you guys have only gotten two Nissans. When was the Titan and the other one was an old school frontier four-banger with a stick shift. I think you guys should get rid of the Ford ranger buy a frontier and do a build on it.
Ford all the way
I like the color on the Datsun. lol
90% of people buying either truck wont see much dirt, let alone serious off road.
In Canada the Ranger Raptor is closer to 20k more.
The Fronteir is available with a 6ft bed....
Cool factor the Raptor.
Common sense.....Fronteir
More like $30k in a lot of markets; seeing Frontiers pro4x new discounted for 55k and Ranger Raptors are closer to 85k. The RR is poorly priced in Canada.
How about prado 90 vs new prado.
where's the Subaru?
Ford Ranger Raptor
I like the Nissan but after test driving it, it felt VERY underpowered... They need to option a 4.0 or 4.2. sorry fan boys
NA, forgot to add they need to keep that..
Seems like the Frontier is not going to be the “best” at anything, but it’s going to be really good at everything.
perfect answer at 17:22
I just love your off road videos.
Would love to see a 5th gen 4Runner try those obstacles. Especially since it has a wheelbase shorter than a 4 door Wrangler.
The Raptor vs is nice but I'm sure a more basic Ranger that has 4×4 will give you just about the same and way cheaper.
Yes, a highly optioned Ranger XLT 2.7 V6tt I configured, came in at $48,330 !!
Anybody thinks the frontier is worth 50k is out of their minds. For a 2005 designed truck at most, its 35k
If you want a more even playing field you add the Nismo lift/leveling kit & shocks as the ranger raptor is a special edition configured for this again that's for a level playing field you can't allow a middle weight boxer fight a super heavyweight the same concept applies here
I have the 2022 frontier I love it it competes , but looks and power train I would honestly chose the ford ranger raptor !
That's Matt's bed music.
Pull the steps off. Just a few bolts.
They are sticking with what is proven. Nissan was the king of the 90s with the Sentra/Altima/Maxima.
Momentive is your friend off roading and Andre doesn't seem to know this.! At any given time.!
Why do a challenge Nissan Frontier Pro4x, Toyota Tacoma Thrillhunter, Ford Ranger Raptor,Chevy Cayon Biese Zr2 and off-road challenge all off-road trucks?
Pro4x isn’t designed to compete with ZR2 Bison, TrailHunter, RR. It is designed like a TRD off road, Ranger FX4, trailboss, etc.
People think because it is Nissan’s Top trim but really it is their only off road trim.
I would just get new tires, 2 inch lift and upper control arms. That's really all you need.
The payload on the frontier is a deal killer.
Titan swap the Frontier with some actual good tires and the outcome will be substantial.
Do all that and you're still a couple grand cheaper than the Raptor too
@@ajhermanfor sure
I wish my Gladiator was as wide as the Ranger and Bronco. Too bad Ford never built a Bronco pickup because I take my doors off regularly which you can't do with the Ranger.
This Kingdom must have been established in this video. Next video, throw in a ZR2 as the challenger, and you will have a new king that will not be dethroned dollar for dollar
ZR2 excels at the slow off-roading. RR excels at the high speed off-roading. Tacoma excels at.... I don't know that thing doesn't look good at much of anything.
@JerryRichards-l1d I don't know if they're discounting RR's yet, but I saw ZR2's selling for $44k last time I looked (few months ago). That's a steal compared to the competition. Gladiators had a decent discount too
Essa ranger vale a pena por assinatura
Between the Nissan Frontier Pro-4X, or the Ford Ranger Raptor, I'd pick the Tacoma Off-Road.
TFL, please stop saying the Ranger Raptors are $57,000 because that’s what you paid. You got a super special purchase price. All dealers are adding $10k-$12 markups on Raptors still. So, in reality, comparing these trucks is so silly, the price difference between the 2 is nearly $20k. Wish I could stomach buying the Ford, but you really need to be a rich man or go poor buying one.
Why should they say a price more then they paid? Ranger raptors can be found for msrp all over! Stop crying 😢
@ find me a ranger raptor at MSRP, Mr Troll
@patrickg8429 ok. Well a simple search will find plenty of em at msrp. I've even seen claims under msrp. But the 10k plus over msrp days are done.
Not to mention, if you walk into a Nissan dealer, you're not going to pay anywhere near MSRP for Frontier. I bought a 2024MY of the exact truck they have and paid $44.8k OTD.
@@patrickg8429 apples to apples so if a dealer marks up a ranger raptor and they still sell what if Nissan marked up the frontier $10-$12k? No one would buy a marked up frontier! Facts!
frontier is 95% of the truck for 80% of the price. Get the Nissan, spend some of the savings on rails and dedicated off road rims and tires, if that's your thing.
I kind of miss my Titan Pro4X, but not the bouncy suspension it had. Ford is way more refined, plus Nissans transfer cases are very temperamental.
Good thing is 3.0 doesn't have wet belt unlike 2.7. but I would get Frontier any day. Simpler better engine and transmission and cheaper. Last of somewhat old school trucks. Now even 5.0 ford in F150 has wet belt since 2022😢.
I thought the 3.0 had a wet belt too? Either way, are they really failing at higher rates? Obviously the fix is more challenging when they fail, but I can’t find a lot of data on wet belt failure. I haven’t researched a ton but do see a whole lot of speculative stuff out there
There are two variants of the 3.0 Ecoboost but I believe they may both have a wet belt for the oil pump. Tasca lists a PN for the Explorer ST's variant as "l1mz6b651a".
Bronco raptor has the same drive train for $30 grand more? That makes no sense
That Nissan is peaches!!
La frontier es mejor porque nissan es mejor
what can you do with an extra 10k? buy the nissan...... I have never replaced a engine or tranny on any of my Nissans starting from when they were Datsun.. and if you take that 10k and put it into the truck you will have all the features you can want and have a better truck then ford and currently Toyota!
Our 2018 Pathfinder had all kinds of problems with that CVT but I can't speak for the trucks. Never had problems with my Ford transmission though. 200k miles on my F150. I'm not a hater though actually really like the new frontier and I'm impressed with its capability so I'm actually starting to consider it
@@TheMeanmarine13 shame too.... cuz I have a xterra with no issues.... once they went away from the body on frame for the pathfinder they went to hell! but the body on frame trucks are still the best value period!
@@TheMeanmarine13Nissan killed the CVT in the larger vehicles. Longitudinal vehicles use the Mercedes 9G-Tronic, transverse use the ZF-9HP.
Nissan/Honda please build a body on frame V6 Xterra for under $50k❤️
Nissan makes one good vehicle now lol. What happened? Either way i would get the ranger with the 3.0 turbo. I have a tuned 3.5 ecoboost. They are super fun
Excellent presentation, gentlemen. You convince me to buy my Nissan Frontier Pro4x.
