In the cancelled sequel for this movie was that brainiac and bizzaro were the villains of the movie but due the Lukewarm reaction and wb being disappointed with this film they decided to reboot Superman 6 years later
LOL They should've taken a risk and introduced one of them in THIS film and have Superman fight someone from the get go! I guarantee you the film would've been a much bigger hit. Sad how we're still waiting for them to be on the big screen :(
Hey mike Jim Caviezel wanted the role of superman in this film but Bryan singer said that he too famous after playing Jesus Christ in the passion of Christ (2004) and he said having Jesus playing Superman would be too distracting imagine Jim as Superman
The fact that people like this over Superman 3 and 4 boggles my mind. Sure, they're far from good movies, but at least I can find them memorably dumb. This, is just a forgettable and safe film that didn't take any big risks, and completely failed by introducing any new villians. I at least wanted to see Superman fight Brainac and / or Bizarro (he doesn't even fight in this film, lame!), even though they were planned for the sequel (which of course never happened). Big mistake in trying to make this a sequel as well, as I never like the same characters being played by different actors for as direct sequel. It should've been a reboot with a villain other than Lex Luthor again! Agreed 100% on the ending thoughts of the villains for the sequel at 33:10.
Jude law was approached to play Superman in this movie but he turned it down over the suit Because he didn’t want to be in the poster in the superman suit
It was also Lex Luthor with Kryptonian technology and all he wants to do is create more real estate schemes…. Why wouldn’t he use that to attack Metropolis
Fun fact clarie Danes and Keri Russell were considered for the role of Lois in this movie but Kevin spacey wanted Kate Bosworth to play loud because he worked with her in beyond the sea

The problem with Superman in film is that there has never been definitive take on Krypton or just about anything else outside of Chris Reeve so kids that grew up with the 78 film are now in positions to dictate how these newish films go and you get one writer saying "Well, I have a new take on the old mythos" then some other idiot comes in and goes "No, fuck that! DONNOR FOR LIFE!11!!111" and it is all a mess. Good lord. Large portions of 78 Superman doesn't hold up and is very dated and I don't think a complete shot for shot nostalgic stroke fest is what this 2025 film needs. It didn't work in 06.

If that's your opinion, I respect it. However, I can appreciate Man Of Steel despite the flaws it has, and say what you want about the action, but at least it has it, unlike this film. It also at least tried to do something different and take risks, something this film was afraid to do. I also heard that the sequel to this would've had Brainiac and / or Bizarro as the main villain.
