This song is spot on! My husband mowed lawns when he was 12…worked at a Nashville Burger place (Happy Burger) when he was 14 taking orders, stocked milk in grocery stores, became a sack boy at Kroger, then was promoted to cashier and later trained for their meat department which paid great money…all while being newly married to me at 19 years old and going to college on a scholarship. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in accounting, took the CPA exam soon after graduating and passed…then went to law school some time later and passed the bar exam and became a lawyer. He is now partnered with a successful commercial concrete company of 20 years. He is the epitome of hard work and success. Nothing was handed to him…he earned all of his successful accomplishments. It’s called drive, ambition, discipline and accountability. I’m very proud of him!

God willing, those 12 years olds are coming back. The cultural war is going to the right.

@@biketech60 Not as much as when I was 12 years old. Ten cents for a loaf of bread, and a penny got you two or more pieces of candy. When I was in high school, I could walk to the burger joint at lunch and get a cheeseburger, fries, and a Coke for 50 cents. A pack of cigarettes was 25 cents. A bottled drink was 10 cents, and a candy bar was 5 cents.

The problem is that video games are now a varsity sport in high schools. More than 240 colleges have teams totaling over 5009 athletes and $16 million in annual scholarships and financial aid. There are even professional leagues where players make millions of dollars. They are televised on networks such as ESPN. There is even a movement to make video games, known as esports, an Olympic event. How did we get to this?

Unfortunately, twelve year olds are entitled, disrespectful, are given awards for participating instead EARNING them, and there is no one holding them responsible or accountable for anything, let alone face any consequences for their poor choices. My Mom was born and raised in Tennessee and I was born in Atlanta, GA in 1966 until we moved to the Midwest the summer before I started the 3rd grade. As my Grandma's and Mom used to say, "They (kids) today don't have any home trainin'/schoolin'." They weren't wrong. I say that very same thing with grown kids and two granddaughter's. It ALL begins at home. I also say this country DOES NOT have a gun problem - it has a PARENT PROBLEM. A rock in bad hands killed Abel. A rock in good hands killed Goliath. It's definitely not about the rock folks. In my not so humble opinion.
