Silver plate does have a bluish tint, but it feels like metal. Sterling has a buttery feel in the hand. It's as if the silver could melt touching it. Coin and German silver has a completely different feel and color. The nickel content is higher than sterling and that gives it a gray tone. Coin and German silver doesn't have the same luster as sterling. It's a slight bit more of a matte finish. It takes practice to feel and see which is which even if it is tarnished.
Well said! Great explaination... Not easy to do
As a (very) amateur reseller, thank you for this!
😅😅😅😮
It's good to be back with you again, Jocelyn, on your journeys.
I have sort of fallen off the planet, but I always feel better watching your videos!
It's not the dishwasher that destroys any color, it's the heat cycle. I keep the heat cycle turned off, crack door, let dishes air dry. Color on all my dishes still looks new, my Pyrex pieces included.
It's ALSO sometimes the chlorine bleach in the dishwasher detergent that is detrimental to the finish of vintage Pyrex.
@@SherryAnnOfTheWest that is what I have been told and believed as well. It’s the chemicals in the detergent that causes damage.
It's the high heat AND the harsh chemicals. 👍
@@SherryAnnOfTheWest😊😊
Blast from the past- my parents had those amber on the rocks glasses! From the 60’s
The way you stack stuff in your cart gives me anxiety. 😁
Hi there! European standard silver is 925 , for jewellery or silverware. There are only a few antique or older pieces such as mesh bags that are 800 but it is not common.
3:35 heart-shaped white dish is Longaberger
I enjoyed all the “Matchey,Matchey “ talking.😁Lol!! Love the duck and the Matchey. Love the green vase💚💚💚, the blue salt thing, and the bird.🪹
Picker road found the elusive glassy baby up near the cases when they checked out on one of their adventures 😂
I wonder if that Tonala-esque duck was made in Guatemala, where Ken Edwards went after Mexico in search of native clay and again taught the locals how to make pottery.
The dachshund decanter is precious!!!
I have a long table and have guest for dinner often. Salt at each end of the table looks nice.
I notice every time you say ooooh thats weird, you buy it.😊
I found 2 Glassy Baby’s in the wild at our local rummage sale. I thought of you, CLL! ❤️
The yellow cloud was from Dollar Tree a few years ago, it makes me laugh every time I see Thrift stores charge more than it costs originally.
Yep- that is my Goodwill. They charge $4.99 to $6.99 for Dollar Tree items. It’s ridiculous! Sometimes the items are still available at Dollar Tree, too!
Always love your videos and how you teach us all the things! Thank you!🫶🏼☀️
Love watching your videos!! So much fun!! Love you and Andrew together!! Your family is beautiful!! You are awesome my friend!! Love your channel!! His bless you!! 🥰💖💙❤️😊😊🌺🌺💜💜🙏🙏💕💕💕💕
Thanks Jocelyn. Have fun tomorrow. It'll be great
It's so good to see that Andrew's feeling better 😊 Missed his humor/knowledge.
I have always loved that Oleg Cassini stuff! It is all well made!
LOVED that first shaker set!
Me too! That's Otagiri, I think.
20:41 Hey Jocelyn.... pretty sure the cat is not Viking, but Rainbow glass ruby cat figurine 😊 This particular one has fooled many.
I found a glassy baby in the wild last week for $3. I wouldn’t have known what it was if it weren’t for this channel.
For this upcoming sale, think Valentines 💝 and include all romantic pieces ❤️
Boudoir jars and perfume bottles, dolls, critters and vases, hearts 💕 and jewelry boxes. Also fancy scarves, handkerchiefs and loungere, glitter anything and vintage handbags. Etc❤❤❤❤😊😊
Thanks for the video
I have a blue Pyrex bowl that was my grandmother's. The color is worn, not from a dishwasher, she never owned one. It was just well loved. Proof that NOT all worn color is from a dishwasher. I cringe everytime you say that. I love your videos!
Those to potter vases were very well made. Great fine.
European sterling silver is 925.
That was fun the buy to Sell thanks California ❤ Blessings
Did you ever put a sale together based on color? Great variety of items and people who decorate in that shade would love it.
9:16 white artichoke, they are in this spring
Love your videos
I really love your goodwill trips ..not so kean on going back to your workshop with you .its not so much fun as we have alrwady seen a lot of tge stuff as you were buying it....more and longer goodwill shopping videos ❤
There are plenty of us that enjoy those…it’s ok to skip them if you don’t like them 🤷🏼♀️
You have SO MUCH merchandise. I don't understand why you don't do more lots--like putting the two blue salt cellars together. Or the three glass seashell items???
I love that Vasilou trinket dish
😍😍😍❤❤❤
I love the duck!
00:48 I mean, just starin' at it ... Otagiri??
02:46 YES. It's a ship's / captain's / admiral's decanter, meant to hold spirits aboard ship. The flared base is to keep it from sliding and tipping in heavy seas, just like the one you sold me (and which, incidentally, I use and LOVE). And yes, it TOTALLY requires a glass stopper to match the decanter. For all that my heart goes out to it, pass it by.
05:32 I'm not at ALL convinced that's Tonalá, though I don't know what it is. Egyptian, maybe?
08:45 Yeah, please do.
925 is actually the most common silver mark in Europe; 835 and 800 are a lesser alloy and less common
Yep, my antique collector neighbor said this as well.
Some really nice things ! Thanks xox
Loved this video😊
Oh I want the mystic Ct mug!
5:13 The "sea urchin" kind of looks like something made by Des Pots...they make some really nice stuff
I've found one Glassybaby, and it was right after I returned from the weekend from hell, flying out to go to my niece's wedding (the wedding itself was actually really nice, the getting there was not). I figure it was from earned karma, but I'm not willing to pay that price again to find another one.
Nice finds today
That pattern is Oyster and Pearl on the peachy pink and white piece. It is by Anchor Hocking and I think the term “vitrock” is also correct.
That little glass creature looks like a seal
You should jave a turquoise, teal blue sale!! Your table has so many blue items!!!
I love the Portuguese pretzel bowl
I notice you haven't been stopping in Antiques Market Place of Lemoyne when visiting Goodwill of Lemoyne. Was wondering if it has to do with new ownership?
Love the video ❤❤❤
I found a friendship glassybaby with the original labeled candles for $1 at a local junk store in Southwestern Virginia
Love the videos
19:35 cute oil lamp
I found a Glassy Baby In Medina, Ohio on Friday. It was $1.25 at GoodWill and was the Silver Lining color. Very Surprised it was in the metals, and I thought It was a Dorothy Thorpe. Boy was I surprised!
If you can make out an anchor symbol on the butter dish , then it was hallmarked in Birmingham uk
Love the pretzel dish 😊😊😊❤❤
have you considered taking some newspaper with you to separate the items in your cart a little, so easy to get a chip with them rubbing against each other?
The Nembe bowl is a fruit tree bowl sold at Bloomingdale’s for$140.00!!
Tater Knob Pottery is near Berea, Ky and they sell those hurricane lamps for $50.
You could have a Christmas in July sale to move some of your Christmas items before the end of the year.
Nice items!
Well. I did not know about glassy babies. Today, we stopped at our second-hand store. As we were leaving I saw an orange votive. Picked it up, sure enough, it was a glassy baby. $30.00 it still lives there as I did not know the value. Plus I really am not collecting them.
❤ AWESOME Video ❤
I NEED that white bowl with the blue crimped edge!!!! Where are you selling it?
This “Fletcher” is heavy😂😂😂
Great video as always😊
I have that MMA reproduction ceramic flask. Couldn't sell it....was listed for months. Hopefully, you'll have better luck. Mine is slated for my garage sale. 😊
I think that little clear glass ornament was an Afghan dog.
Yippee! 🎉
I need a CLL owl sale!
You can find a glassy baby. Picker road did on there road trip. Still hope
Hey Jocelyn, I got this from an eBay group that I belong to. You probably already know all of these markings but I thought I would send them in case you didn’t! Anyone else reading this post is welcome to copy too of course!
Hello from Mexico 👋
Yay
Do you have pawn shops in your area Dani that you could find jewellery? ❤
Unique taste but looks like You passed some "Real" finds right next to You a few times. Must have some good finds there.
I use to watch you a lot last year so one day me and my daughter went to thrift store because I told her I had a feeling I’ll find some expensive glass…as soon as we got to the glass section these three nice sized colorful candle glasses caught my attention they felt and looked liked great quality I knew nothing about them I passed because they were $6.96 each and when I looked on the bottom they said glassy baby in like bubbled lettering I laughed like what is a glassy baby and laughed about the name for weeks until I heard someone mention them until this day I soooooo regret that I should of went with my gut intuition…I’m a dummy
I live in Hamilton Ohio love red birds l want that cup lol
Screw Goodwill they took their % colors out and you have to buy $30 now to get $5 coupon! The people, mostly seniors living on fixed income and who don't get out as much, can't get that item that was 1/2 off or any % off now at that specific time! Goodwill FORGETS it gets their stuff FREE! Plus many don't know GW goes through things and the good deals are saved and put on their website to be sold! People shop elsewhere and remind GOODWILL they're a THRIFT STORE!
Just a idea have a just vase sale
Did you ever sell that sweet grass basket?
How do you resale. I have a Hermes bracelet I found
Sterling smells different from sterling plate.
You will find a glassybaby someday when you are not looking bam it will be there and fabulous
She has found a glassybaby in the wild, just not at goodwill.
❤
Hello ❤😊
😊❤
We haven’t seen the kids in a while…I know the big ones are in school…but doesn’t Laurel go shopping with you anymore? I miss her! ❤
Jocelyn is working. You don't bring your kids to work either. I'm sure she has more fun at home with the babysitter.
What-Not-adversary 2.0
❤❤❤❤❤❤
It was a seal
February 4th is my birthday, can I pick an item?!?🤪😘
Hi Jocelyn! Have you totally stopped using EBay for selling?
Her eBay store is still open but she only has “buy it now” items. No more auctions there.
What time is the sale on February 4th?
6
I think the sea urchin looking thing could be a peyote cactus bud vase?
🦋🦋🦋
How do you keep track of what you paid for an item to know how much profit you made?
Her videos🤷♀️
She doesn’t have too. She has so much inventory she only tracks totals of how much she buys and how much she sells. The difference minus expenses is profit. Like rikke commented, if for some reason she does need to know, she has the video.
😍🐦
🥰😍😘
🥰👍
Watching your videos made me wonder how amongst all the things you come across you never seem to see eggcups. (i am an avid collector) than I read somewhere that you americans dont really use egg cups 🤷♀️
Fun fact, she often buys egg cups for her mom’s collection.
A few years back she had a not so nice problem with a customer who bought some eggcups from her. Since then she only really buys them for her mom. You are also right that most american don't really use them. They tend to eat scrambled or fried eggs. I live in Denmark and grew up with a soft boild egg in an eggcup so yummy😊
@@mamaG4 i didn’t know that! Thanks for letting me know.
@@rikkemeek1506 i live my soft boiled eggs as does my husband who’s Danish 😁
@@mamaG4 thank you for letting me know. I didn’t know that.
