Craftsman Mid-Torque Impact Wrench CMCF920 [275 FT LBS]

- The Craftsman CMCF920 20V 1/2" Impact delivers 275 ft-lbs of fastening torque and is only $129 as a bare tool. This mid-torque impact from Craftsman impressed us with its performance while on the test bench, removing cylinder heads, and removing lug nuts. While it's probably not going to find it's way into many Professional mechanic's toolboxes, this is a great choice for the DIY and enthusiast.
Craftsman included a 2-speed transmission and a variable speed trigger. The LED light located below the operator's hand distributes light to the fastener area. The 20-volt V20 battery delivers power to the brushless motor and finally to the 1/2" hogring-style anvil. The mid-torque size is more compact than a full-size high-torque and it will typically handle most or all of the work for most weekend work.
Craftsman includes a 3-year warranty with the CMCF920. - Авто/Мото
I'm a tire tech, and use this gun 65 hours a week. Not let me down yet on anything 1/2 ton or smaller. Break out the Milwaukee for the bigger trucks. Plus they're on sale at Lowe's for $99 right now.
Thank you for this reply. I'm looking into picking up this impact wrench since it's on sale. It's good to hear it works great in the professional setting.
@@Luigiz28 Definitely a good buy for $99. Also, I think there is a deal right now where you buy the battery + Charger kit, and get a free ratchet. I'm gonna check it out today when I go to town.
@@brotherbrian1 I just saw Lowes has the V20 brushless drill driver and Impact with 2 batteries/charger for $149 and they give you this impact wrench for free!! I'm totally picking this set up.
@@Luigiz28 Hell yeah. Almost all the V20 stuff has yellow tags right now.
Those are some really good deals that ya'll are discussing. Definitely worth a look. Thanks for watching.
I own this impact wrench and couldn't be happier! Don't let anyone fool you into believing that Dewalt is better, this Craftsman impact is as good or better than the competition
That's because this is a rebranded dewalt DCF984. They're owned by the same company. Mac Tools shares an impact with Dewalt as well
Picked one up today from Lowe’s. Can wait to start using it at work.
Thank you sir for the great review. I have a V20 ecosystem already so I'll be adding this to it.✌🏻
Got it last week for just over $80. bucks at Lowe’s. Also scored the 1/4” Brushless impact driver for $53. Got a lot of craftsman tools for crazy cheap earlier in the year!
Another great video! Thanks!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Just bought mine today at Lowe’s and got it for $123 for the bare tool. Not a bad deal since I already got a charger and a battery pack. They had the bigger batteries on sale also for $99 so I got a two pack of them
I've seen this impact stress tested and it was able to push out more power than stated by about 100ft. I've owned mine for several months and it's served me well. There have been very few bolts that this thing hasn't been able to remove. There are only two that come to mind that it wasn't able to remove and those were completely rusted on and took about 1000ft pounds before they snapped off. So that wasn't the tools fault at all.
This is a great impact, but it's not extremely strong. Thanks for watching.
Lowes has in offer right now, they are giving it for free when you buy one of there impact drive-drill bundles, cost me 200 bucks for all three of them.
Thanks, just ordered this with 4ah battery and charger for $120 based on your review.
Can you add a link from where you bought it?
@@51comets84 Lowes, that had a deal where you got the battery and charger free
Do you recommend the 4ah or does the 2ah do the same but just less run time?
I got the RP 1/2” model and for some reason struggled getting two lug nuts off out 20(5 each wheel) had to bust of a ratchet and breaker bar. Kind of wondering if the rp has less power than this one??..
I just purchased one iam a professional auto technician I love it
That's great to hear. Thanks for watching and letting us know.
I got like 10 Craftsman V20 tools and batteries for cheaper than one snap-on tool. Lowe's Clearance sales. They perform amazingly.
Hi Tim, in your professional opinion do you think Craftsman R+P is a good power tool for scrapping?
I bought this with high hopes. Two different passenger vehicles with flat tires and both times it failed to break the factory torque on the lug nuts.
Thanks for a good video.
Craftsman has come a long way, compare it to Ryobi that would be a great video.
Great suggestion, and coming soon! Thanks for watching.
Hey is that the Samsung Galaxy Classic original? I got the same one.
Lowe's is currently running a special. They'll include a 4.0 battery and charge with the purchase of this impact wrench. I got mine for $123 with tax.
That's a heck of a deal. Thanks for watching.
Wait is this deal going on? About to run my ass to the store to get it if so
Picked one up and they threw in a 4 Ah battery free, all for $120, tax included
just ordered one from Lowe’s the other day how do you like it?
I won’t receive mine until April 23rd. I’m excited to try it out.
@@RobertoHernandez-qn7tb Did you end up getting yours? I got my free battery/charger but the tool itself has been backordered for 3 weeks, so it hasn’t shipped.
How did you end up with that deal. At my Lowe’s it’s 120 for just the impact
I love your review! Theres not enough of these impacts reviews on YT. How were you able to purchase this for $129? I checked on lowes, but its going for $169.
Thank you very much. At the time of the video, we checked, and that was the price at Lowes, but that was without a battery. Just checked now, and it's $169, you are right. Sorry for the price change. Thanks for watching and for commenting.
get them now i just got mine from lowe’s for $99 on sale!
@@ogribeye4981 my wife just got me one for Christmas 99 bucks and 69 for battery at lowes.,
...Nice review....Thanks.. Between this impact wrench and the milwaukee stubby...which is the best for you... Thanks again..!!
I really see these as 2 different guns, in different categories. If I had to choose, I'd choose the Stubby, just because I already have a mid-torque. If I didn't have a mid-torque, that's a really tough decision. I think it would come down to cost and whether or not I already had batteries in one of those lines. I'm trying not to cop-out, but it's kinda apples and oranges.
If you're looking for something to remove lug nuts, then I'd choose this Craftsman over the M12 stubby.
@@Shoptoolreviews ... Thank you so much..!!
I already bought it..!! Im surprised , this impact wrench is small and looks powerful..It took me just 40 min. to charge the battery....Very thanful..!!
@@Shoptoolreviews what's the torque wrench you got and where is it available?
Will this really break the lug nuts on my truck
I don’t know why you don’t test it to your “break away” torque, it’s really frustrating to not see, you do it with other brands…
Did you stop at 250 instead of testing more?
Where does this guy take the Lugnuts off I got a 5 foot breaker bar and sometimes when cars come in my shop from a tire place I can jump on the 5 foot breaker bar and it won’t break Them free and then I weigh 300 pounds
I actually have this tool
It has a lot of torque
And it does bust nuts😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yes, it does just that. We were impressed with it.
Can you redo this with the new setup where you can test it at higher torque?
I'd like to see that too.
What’s the upper end on this tool?
Thanks for watching.
Could u do a video of the High torque impact by craftsman it claims 1000 fastening I wanna know if it's true lol
I wonder how it compares to my Dewalt dcf894.
Looks like they took out a mode, and gave it slightly lower official specs.
You're right on. We think it's a de-tuned DeWalt. The DeWalt will always outperform the same Craftsman. Stanley B&D will make sure of that.
@@Shoptoolreviews can't have your "pro" brand outperformed by your "prosumer" brand. you can find some video where they take then apart simuler craftsman and dewalt tools and they have the same guts for the most part. personaly im loving my craftsman tools.
@@mustangjack18 I’m in the DEWAlt platform but would love to see that comparison of the insides
I have both and the craftsman is a little more powerful and yes removed the middle function which I never used
I had this, but the deWalt mid torque impact said that it had a lot better torque, so I switched to the DeWalt XR mid torque. I’m curious how well this performs compared to that. Mine has the pin detent, I don’t know why Lowe’s didn’t have the friction ring mid torque anvil for the DeWalt.
The DeWalt is quite a bit more powerful than this Craftsman, and you're getting a better tool with the DeWalt. That's odd that they didn't have a friction-ring. Thanks again for watching.
I’ve got the DEWAlt too and it sure is nice
Someone took them both apart they're the same had the same everything
@@loucifer323 link to the video?
@@saturnmedia1 I'm trying to find it sometimes they take videos down, I own both they both seem like they have the same power even sound the same I leave one in my wife's car and one in mine for tire rotation and flat tires which my wife gets once a month
On sale now for 99 at Lowes. Wish I could get into Craftsman batteries and a charger for cheap to pick one up.
That's a great deal. Thanks for watching.
Same here !
Just found it on their website , but none in stock !

Have you tested the DCF894, Dewalt’s mid torque.
Yes, we have. Thanks for watching.
@@Shoptoolreviews Do you have video? Or some specs?
I like when ppl down grade the new craftsman stuff
Oh its ok for diy-er
But if dressed up in a yellow suit the conversation is different 😂😂😂😂👍🏾
great vid
Im new to the channel and y'all make some great vids
Thank you for watching, and for the comments. Yes, this is a great impact, especially for the money. While it does have some of the DeWalt (Stanley B&D), there are a lot of differences as well. They're definitely not the exact impact. You are right though, people see Red, Yellow, Teal, Lime-Green, etc. and make pre-meditated decisions.
I just got one today it has 2 settings the level 2 is 275 lbs torque what is the low setting
There is no calibration for the low setting, but it's typically about 50% of the High level.
@@Shoptoolreviews have you tried the 3/8 craftsman?
I have it and honestly it's an okay tool it's not the best but I don't really think it's going to knock loose something that's 300 ft lb tight because honestly like I tried it on a Honda crankshaft bolt when I was doing the timing on my Honda and it wouldn't budge it so then I went and got the m walkie M18 fuel and it busted it in about a second it is okay if you're doing light duty work
This tool is on sale at Lowes for $79.00 at this moment of time.
What torque wrench is that?
CMCF920B, which is basically a detuned Dewalt DCF894
Can you tight up a tire of a pick up truck??
Yes, you can tighten lug nuts with this impact. Thanks for watching.
For anyone that cares they’re $57.07 at Lowe’s right now without the battery or charger
Im just curious why you stopped at 250? But I understand, I know you dont like craftsman is that why you refuse to show its true power. Every other tool you show its full power.....smh
$100 at lowe's right now
That price is hard to beat. Thanks for watching.
I just tried 1 of these Craftsmen impact wrenches and it was really weak....like I can stop it from spinning with my hand. It would hammer about 20 seconds per lug nut on a small car. I tried a second unit and it was the same. Bad batteries? Bad batch of impact wrenches? Very disappointing!
Did you try this brushless model or their older and larger impact? It's definitely not the strongest in the world, but this is a decent impact. Thanks for watching.
@@Shoptoolreviews It was a brushless model like yours. Same battery too.
It is not that powerful (it's mid-torque after all), but I suspect your car might be over-torqued. Tire shops usually over torque lug nuts.
Properly torqued lug nuts usually don't have much problem unless tires not been rotated or changed for years. (At least, with small cars)
If you have a torque wrench (even cheap one from HF is fine), properly torque your lug nuts according to your car's manual, and try again.
If it still struggles, then you will need a bigger impact wrench (from a different brand).
By the way, in case you used a chrome socket, don't use that. Use impact socket, preferably heavier one.
Impact wrench's power comes from rotating internal hammer. Heavier hammer means higher impacting power.
So by using heavier socket, it can add up the impacting power.
you can't hold that with your hands lol
i was thinking the MIl M18, but i have 3 Kaftsman battery already.
That's a tough choice. Sure, the Milwaukee will deliver more power, but do you really need it?! If you already have Craftsman batteries, then it probably makes sense to stay with it. Thanks for watching.
First! That lugnut removal at the end was a little cringy, lol.
That shit happens though.... gotta tap the socket off each lug nut... real world stuff right there....👉
I repair cars all the time and that shit happens to nearly every car I work on because nobody ever replaces lug nuts. And up here in the northeast of PA where snow hits and all the salt just splashes up on people's wheels them shits get rusty.
@@BedjamRivera Has to do more will swollen lugs. Over-torqued.
@@steveramos1452 it's a combination of your shops just talking them down with impacts wrenches and rust
@@BedjamRivera I’ve seen quick shops torque tires down so tight they warp the damn studs lol
Lowe’s has a sell right now. Buy the battery pack and get the tool free.
If you're calling this a DIY'er than the Dewalt is also a DIY'er... Fit and finish is the same as Dewalt.
That really depends on which model you're talking about with the DeWalt. The fit and finish on most/all the DeWalts are a bit more refined than on the Craftsman. Also, the DeWalt mid-torque impact is much more powerful. Thanks for watching.
Definitely better built than Milwaukee
@@Shoptoolreviews they just tested one and it put out almost 400 pounds of torque
Diy ers????
Yes, great for DIY. Thanks for watching.
Why did you only test to 250 instead of the 275? And you said it has more than 275 nut busting torque, so I would have liked to see it being tested to at least 350-400 to see where exactly it’s torque caps off at, and then fully torque a nut with the gun and check it with the torque wrench to see how much torque it actually applied, all in all I didn’t like the test, it didn’t really tell me anything, it wasted my time
Anyone want to tell him it's made buy the same people that make Dewalt?
REALLY?! We had No Idea!! Mind...blown. LOL. Yes, we know that. We test and review tools for all the Stanley Black & Decker brands. Thanks for watching.
Those wheels should be a lot less than 140, my 3/4 ton truck only calls for 135.
Thanks for watching.
Most Chevy half ton to one ton trucks call for 140. If you're truck calls for 135 it's likely a dodge. Ford f150s call for 150 ft lbs yet the newer 3/4 to 1 tons torque to 165 while using a 14mm stud.
I think that calling this a "DIY tool" is accurate. It's surely enough power for someone who occasionally needs to remove their tires.
I work at a Toyota dealer and I can say, this impact really isn't all that great in terms of power. In an actual shop setting, this impact is very underpowered. I live in the rust belt and corrosion+rust are a real problem. On newer vehicles, lugnuts are okay. On an older vehicle with rust, good luck getting lugnuts off with this impact; it's not gonna happen. Then again, that's why I believe this impact appeals to DIYers who don't have access to an air compressor.
I bought this impact because I thought I was gonna use it (I'm a newer mechanic), but as it turns out, it just stays in my drawer unused because it's not very useful in a shop setting.
This guy has an iron lung damn can he talk
We have no idea what you mean. :) Thanks for watching.
