I live in the French Quarter in New Orleans. With many neighborhoods all made of old wooden buildings fire here is terribly dangerous, it can spread in minutes. I have watched NOFD work 2 fires in the Quarter and they were amazing. No hesitation, run in and look for people, get the water on, everybody knows what to do without needing instructions. Now whenever I pass the fire station I smile and wave and they always wave back, such a happy feeling.
As an Australian young man myself born in 1998 from Lakemba, New South Wales, Australia I really look up to firefighters the men and women who work extremely hard to aid & rescue people in danger whether they are boys, girls, men & women. They even save animals which is very sweet. Firefighters are truly incredible human beings because they are so courageous and so selfless. To me they will always be my heroes. As human beings we should all follow the three principles of life compassion, empathy and love to have a more perfect union. 👍🏾 🚒
I miss firefighting the rush of going to a fire you can’t describe the emotions, the adrenaline is literally coursing through your veins, you are thinking of what to do how to do it. I hated training but the training we did made it easier on scene. But no training can match a real fire, the heat, the smoke, everything is my feel because once water goes on the flame it’s blackout conditions. People ask me what’s it like, I say put your oven on at 500 put a blindfold on and open the over, that initial blast of heat is your working conditions until the fires out.
@@rowan_planck9707 there’s multiple ways, check and see if your town has a volunteer fire agency and try and join. That’s a great first step and or contact your paid fire department, find out the requirements! Good luck!
Man I have been through it all you name it I've done it or seen it but one of the scariest times on my life was when my house caught fire, I'm so happy I woke up and was able to get everyone out in time, it only took minutes for it to burn down to the ground.
The 2nd story, cause of fire was very similar to the Worchester 6(if my spelling is right). Squatters occupying abandoned buildings and starting fires -- it may be to warm themselves during cold nights. However in worchester (again, spelling) 6 fire fighters died after getting lost in the building and rescuing those who first got lost. RIP
I've had a housefire, and it's scary! What's more scary, is my husband getting a call at work, telling him his house is on fire, and him knowing his wife and daughter were home! That's scary!
A house fire is my worst nightmare, I have many birds and they would more than likely died if my house were to catch fire. That would quite literally kill me, I’d die.
Maybe building houses made of stone, concrete would help to make those fires less expanding. Here in Germany, when some has a fire in a Flat/Apartment, the other sometimes get the smoke an the ones below the waterdamage. But it need a lot to lite up a normal 1 family house to burn like the ones in the Video. But I have to say, that new houses are more and more mad of wood and plastersheets (Rigips) nowdays. so this will change here too, wenn it comes to a fire Best regards :-)

A lot of departments in California use class A foam because water is scarce and they have the money for it. My department in the Southeast only carries AFFF in buckets and we rarely use it, whether it's because of expense or the hassle to hook up an eductor.
