Formed in Florida, alternative rock band Matchbox Twenty consists of Rob Thomas, Brian Yale, Paul Doucette, and Kyle Cook. The group signed with Atlantic Records in 1995, creating four studio albums including 12x platinum ’Yourself or Someone Like You’ and 4x platinum ’Mad Season’. The band’s debut album spawned the hit singles "Push," "3AM,” "Real World," "Long Day,” and "Back 2 Good” and continued to spit out hits such as "Bent," "Unwell," "If You're Gone," "Bright Lights" and "Disease."
In addition to more than 30 million records sold worldwide, Matchbox Twenty headlined six different tours and has earned many honors, including five Grammy nominations, four American Music Award nods, the 2004 People’s Choice Award for “Favorite Musical Group”, and they were named “Best New Band” in the 1997 Rolling Stone Readers Poll.

I agree I love Rob Thomas!!! However lol, I can imitate his voice virtually flawlessly for some reason I’ve always been able to naturally…. His vocal style is one of my favorite to sing and listen to.

The best band of all time for me is Matchbox 20. Saw them for the 1st time last year in Gilford, NH. Literally one of the best days in my life aside from graduating from grad school in 2021. I'm 43 and I loved them in my 20's and their even better now! Love u guys❤

Matchbox 20 has been one of my favorite bands since around 2000 when I was just enlisting in the Army prior to the world going tipsy turvy and has steadfastly remained as such through the world re-righting it’s self and falling back over. Thanks for that - the music brings sanity. Love you guys
Has been mine since their inception! For some reason their music just resonated with me..
I can relate to this song so well and how when I finally ended my marriage I just didn’t care and couldn’t go another step (mile) further acting like I cared. It’s not cruel but rather self preservation and letting the other person go for their own benefit to find their “person” who cared.
Okay I'll give you self preservation, but I still think it's cruel not to drive him the last three miles. It may have taken her, what, three minutes. I think she is a b*tch. PERIOD! Otherwise great song.

I totally agree, it is a great breakup song, I recently related to it more than ever when the girl who I was with ended our relationship totally abruptly and out of the blue, and just stopped it, basically using the explanation in the song nearly word for word. This song is just wonderful.

This song hits hard. it's always interesting how someone can write lyrics that are so unique to their experience, yet you've had it happen too-- and you realize you aren't alone . I came to Matchbox Twenty after hearing Mad Season on the radio so many years ago and realising it was the guy who sang Smooth with Santana. Stayed for this song. It never fails to pull the emotion out of me. I have no personal experience that it resonates with, but I do have a very narrative imagination, this song paints a picture in my imagination. Thank you, Matchbox Twenty for this little masterpiece of musical storytelling.
