Thank you for this! I had the code and ordered the parts and replaced it. After I replaced the shutters , the thermometer was not communicating so I unplugged the battery and it works now. But the compass needed to be recalibrated by just driving around! No more check engine light now and I can remote start again!
Great job on explaining & the video diagnosing the U1510 code. I recently purchased a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab with only 50k miles & the check engine light came on a day or 2 after I had replaced the truck's original factory battery. I was curious if the new battery or a bad connection with it can cause the check engine light to come on. The battery hook up for my 2018 GMC has a case that goes over the positive side you have to remove to get the battery out so that made me wonder if the battery guy may have not put it back on correctly. I had my mechanic run a diagnostics check & said it was a U1510 code. He read all the possibilities of what could be causing it & because both the heater & AC are working fine he cleared the code to see if maybe if it was from changing out the battery. Next morning check engine light came back on. I am going to send my mechanic your video in the morning to review & see if this maybe the issue. My question is what damage will it cause to the engine, heating & cooling, & electrical components if I wait & keep driving my truck for a while before I fix it ?
I found the issue, the fuse failed for the air shutter and failed in a way where only visible inspection would identify. the fuse is number 47 call "throttle control" on the 2017 Serria Denali engine bay fuse panel

What training do you have about the LIN HEADER for each SLAVE on a LIN wire? The HEADER is the first few square waves of each packet that has its own signature for each LIN Component, many times when buying an Aftermarket Alternator that was improperly cross-referenced, the LIN Signature will be wrong and it will not work. ABOUT the first half dozen up to about 10 square waves will be the HEADER Signature, I like to show this fact on my scope and save it to my library. Sometimes there is more than one SLAVE on the line and that info can be used to find a root cause issue by one of the SLAVE Components for diagnosis. It also appeared that your scope resolution, or filtering, or some setting needed adjustment to clean up the pattern I was noticing, some form of Aliasing?? I just found your channel right now and this was a cool video, just needed to add in this suggestion for your future LIN collections, cheers. I will look to see what type of work you normally do and see if I will keep your channel in my very long daily listings of NON-DIY Channels, much appreciated.

Called the dealer, purchased a new shutter assembly and installed it with no issues. Simple installation. However, the check engine light is still on and the same code is still popping up. i finally managed to test the wires. one provides constant 12-13V voltage and the other color wire is dropping/fluctuating a little bit. i dont have a scope to see the signal mode. the engine check engine comes on all the time. if the issue with the shutter, how the actuator pins should react if i test the resistance between the pins of the actutator. want to make sure i should replace the actutator.
Great video and scan tool. You got some good diagnostic thinking. My 2017 Sierra set U1510 and P2101 at the same time. Is this the Shutters causing loss of data on the LIN hence giving me a false code for the throttle body? Or did both these things crap out at once.
