It still should have been the Gibson Grabber with the sliding pickup. (that was what he was known for) ...make a Grabber, do some upgrades, lighter weight etc.....Makes NO sense to do a Nikki Sixx remake.
@Musical Box Regardless, ones a neck through, one is not and they are both the same T-Bird shape (which is what i was getting at)...Gene was noted for being one of the few guys rockin a Grabber and making it iconic. I prefer the look of the deep red NS Signature neck through anyway - but still, a remake of a Grabber would have me slappin down a visa card. Cheers
@Musical Box There were a couple guys using them - even fairly recently...Grabber/Ripper Green Day bassist(not sure if he still does) and Nirvana bassist was using a Ripper I think - the shape is mostly made popular from Gene - I played a '75 (IIRC) it was heavy and huge body and thick neck - was kind of a beast...but if they modernized it and made it 8lbs, EMG pickups and the Hipshot bridge - it would be killer.

If youre not touring and fans are not seeing you play this particular instrument..why is it a signature model? people associate the guitars they see him play like his axe base and the punisher bass..
@@Drahculia lol ok not sure what alimony has to do with a signature guitar..my point isn't about planning for divorce( Shannon has been with Gene for 39 years..lol)..Gene is already worth over 200million..and as you're saying not touring, they won't be able to sell as much (exactly my point, why would ppl buy a 4000$ base that they don't see Gene use? ) People associate his age shaped base, or Destroyer base to him, not a Gibson thunderbird..many ppl buy them for the novelty of KISS items..but not many can afford 4000$...Tommy Thayer does his signatures with Epiphone in the 800$ range..
