    Impressive system must admit, impressed by possibility of manual adjustments and it is also much more usable, when you don't need to change gears.

      Agreed, EVs again superior, the same with Pre Heater as Standard Feature and without exhaust fumes. My next car is an EV that's for sure.

    Love my 2019 leaf only had it 4 weeks and I’m totally in love with it.
    I have to admit I’ve not tried the parking yet as I thought it would be a bit scary but watching this I’ve just got to try it now.😀

    Bjørn Nyland you are the freaking man! Great videos on the New 2018 NIssan Leaf. These are by far the best 2018 Nissan Leaf videos out right now. Love your work man!

    Very impressed! It parked faster than I thought. Most of parking assist systems out there are so slow that we can't use them really in real world, but I think I will use this.

    Bjorn: "Squeeze in here."

    Bjorn: "Shiiiiit."

    Even if I wouldn't really use it (unless a space was so tight only the car could do it quick enough), I found the demo really impressive, so thanks :)
    Being able to manually input a space is the best feature I think

    Maybe you have to be at the proper parallel parking position (even with the front car) before you press the park button so it knows where you want to park. It looked like it didn’t lock onto the other spot until you were even with the car in front of it.

    Fantastic implementation of automatic parking! it impressed me more than tesla´s. Specially because you can choose a virtual paring spot in manual mode! Also the 360 degree camera is just what people with depth perception problems need!

    My gen 1 ford focus does that parrelel parking issue too. I feel like the sensors are always active which is why it finds the spot I don't want it to go into. They should make another button like "skip" when searching for spaces.

    THIS IS AMAZING. Now my tesla is waaayyyyyy behind with software. If Nissan can update his software tesla better get hury.

    @8:12 let it find a spot, then simulate driving to the front door of the store, then jam an orange peal in the deadman switch, get out of the car, and see if it can go park itself. LOL.

    Our 2016 nissan qashqai has a very simular auto parking system,ie you can park nose or tail in and parallel parking,Inc the manual adjust.
    However we have to select the gears and pedals.

    Does it have park out assist to get out of tight spots?

  • @NanoMine
    @NanoMine 7 лет назад

    I think It was doing that because it already found a spot at back. So if you came to that position in reverse (or avoiding the park space at back) then it might have found it.

    This is impressive, considering again this is a car that cost only ~$40k loaded. Companies like Ford have auto parallel park, but you won't find perpendicular parking on a car that isn't from a luxury brand. Nissan is really bringing high-tech to the masses with this car.

    So Cool... I am amazed by the all round parking camera very clever indeed they can get the camera to do that as if you seeing the car from above like your own drone staying above you :) In the last part Bjorn you where almost crapping bricks when the car inched it's self into the tight between car parking place? Really nice to see this feature shown off thanks! So you got a break from the cold Norway for some sun and new driving I am pleased you got it?

  • @sergeyyevtukh388
    @sergeyyevtukh388 7 лет назад

    I think, the Nissan auto park is actually looking for more “approachable “ spot, less risk is better kind of approach, so as soon as it’s spotted better spot it won’t recommend you a titter one, we can’t fool the smart system. Basically you need a long row of cars an only one tight spot available so that system would have no other choice kind off situation, than it might take the only available one.

    The Tesla should ba able to park in between lines too, with all the camera's on AP2 cars. However, up until now, it only uses the ultrasonics. That is one feature I hope is coming really soon (and not the Tesla "soon" :-) )

    LOL you are funny!!! Thank you so much for doing these videos!!!! I've learned so much about my car I'm driving and other ev's from your channel. The dealerships know absolutely nothing. Of course I'm sure tesla does but I don't have one of those yet. I was going between the bolt and the leaf and after seeing all the cool features. I think I'll be getting the 2018 leaf. I'll be leasing until I can afford a tesla LOL

  • @duoduocgh
    @duoduocgh 4 года назад +1

    To detect the spot between the two cars, activate park assist until you are right next to the right spot. Then it will not stick to the spot behind like in the video. Real world tested.

  • @flitsies
    @flitsies 7 лет назад

    Ok so what would happen if you set it up got it going to park and suddenly someone with a smaller vehicle jumped into the spot?
    Or what would happen if the space you wanted to park in was a little odd, ie at an angle?
    Or if someone stood in it's way or on a ramp, what if there were some rubbish in the kerb or if there was something sticking out from the other vehicle from a roof rack would it simply drive onto the object let's say a pole sticking out?

    • @decimal1815

      the Leaf automatically fires a guided missile at any cars that try to steal your parking spot, and pedestrians are deterred from walking in front of the car while parking by the built-in flame throwers.

      Bjørn Nyland non length (4.5 meters) but the width of the street.
      I have a road that misure 3 meters width plus 2.5 meters of the parking slot, the leaf will do the correction for enter in the parking slot because the road is not very large to do the manouvre?

    Very nice vid. Nissan's idea looks very clever, but the execution still seems highly problematic. Especially ergonomically: you have to push so many buttons before it actually works, and even then it's still sort of half-baked (for the parallel parking at least). Something to improve for the facelift in 3 years time, I guess.

  • @bluefoxtv1566
    @bluefoxtv1566 7 лет назад +4

    Well the system is cool its much to slow. I could have been in the spot in the same time it takes to cycle through the menu and select the spot.
    I guess it could be nice on a large van or truck as they can be hard for people who don't drive something so large often.

    • @gregandkaruna6674
      @gregandkaruna6674 7 лет назад +5

      Or for when you get old and lose confidence, this system will be a lifesaver to all of us as we get older! I have seen the Tesla self park and this is far superior, yes a little slow, but first time every time is better than scraping the dam alloys on the kerb :-)

    • @bluefoxtv1566

    Great demonstration. However, I must play devil's advocate and say that most people can park 4 times faster than this system can. It's perfect for situations where the parking spot is in very tight quarters, but I find this to be quite useless in a normal parking lot.

  • @ShawnSonnentag
    @ShawnSonnentag 7 лет назад

    I like the 360 view, but auto parking is a gimmick in my opinion. It's just too cumbersome and slow to be practical. With the 360 view, parking becomes a no-brainer anyway. I do appreciate the demonstrations though. It just seems that the software engineers' time would be better spent on other endeavors.

    Pro parking assist for millennials. Just kidding. Great video. I love Nissans and have 2 Infinitis with surround view and use it extensively. I personally don’t need a car to park for me. Nissan has come a long way with this technology.
