Benedict XVI spoke I believe it was 11 languages! A very wise, intelligent man, a noted theologian, author and Holy Father. I love him, miss him dearly, given what succeeded him.

Im sorry if this comment sounds negative. But I noticed that all the Pope in my lifetime are not preaching the gospel. Their sermons sounds monotonous. I am saying this not just because of wanting to criticize as I want all priest to be excellent preachers of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Their messages are very shallow and basic. I am a Christian too and I do really want to listen to Catholic priests preach the gospel about sin, repentance, in Christ alone, Judgement and hell, rewards in heaven, eternal life, healing, and salvation of souls. They all read their sermon, and not spontaneous.
He is quite humble as a man and sought to elevate the external dignity of his office by wearing the symbolic and historical clothing which had been neglected in recent decades.
