It was on a GamesMaster youtube channel about a year ago but it got deleted for some reason. They had uploaded the entire thing, not just the Playstation section.
1997 was the best year of my life, and it was the year that I was introduced to the Playstation console. In my opinion the Playstation is the best console of all time. It had a massive selection of awesome and memorable games. I love Tomb Raider, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Final Fantasy VII, Syphon Filter, Dino Crisis, Guilty Gear and so many other titles. The Playstation is a masterpiece, and the hard work and effort put into the Playstation, and it's games is apparent.
The music track fits the video perfectly. I've Shazammed different sections, but it came up blank, so assumed it was composed specifically for the video. The whole audio/visual piece is an amazing piece of work, especially as seems to be made mostly from 'found footage' of the games and console that it's promoting. The editing and transitions are superb. I find it all mesmerising, and wanting to buy into that universe all over again, now. Whatever Sony paid for it, they certainly got their money's worth. Disclaimer: all my opinion, of course. All art appreciation is personal to the viewer. YMMV
My first console was the Atary (dont remember number, but it had a typewriter keyboard thing) I got it at a yard sale for $15 with 30 games, but the first game I ever played was Super Mario Bros. that is when I knew I was a gamer 4 life, then I got the Genesis, then Playstation blew my mind and first console purchased by me, then the masterpiece that is the PS2 my favorite of all, and now with the PS3 with gameboy's and PSP in between, what a ride...
Bro, thank you for this upload, I remember this soundtrack and been searching for this video for years, I also had the VHS promo tape. Brings back memories of the good ol'days.
Fantastic video, they couldnt do that nowadays, with such a touch of love :) Do any of you remember, there were another 1997 video compilation of PS1 games? I had one on VHS, there were V- Rally, Ray Tracer, Final Fantasy VII and many more. One music track used that i remember was Orbital - The Saint. I really would like to see it uploaded and watch it again.
From the first time I saw this my brain has been determined to interpret it as all being footage from one impossible, perfect super-game. Obviously I know it isn't, but the weirdly profound influence this promo had on me was to try and imagine what that game's world and story would be like.
I remember the terminology chipped, in the school playground, almost every kid was talking about this magical "chipped" thing that lets you play any game from any region. Fell beautifully with my already electronic interest, so I ordered myself a chip and that 3 wire mod was damn easy. Then come the Dreamcast with its no mod needed boot disk and later selfbooting games, it really was a dream come true. Then the PS2 with its 21pin mods, Xbox original sop mod, GC Wii. Those were the golden age of modchips, these days it's all CFW and soft mods.
@suddnstar i feel u on that one i was expose to playstation at the age of 9 and it was great my eyes had a such a orgaism like u would never belive and now iam 22 and still playing to this day and yes iam marrie to sony playstation and two kids psp and psp go and luv them much thx fot the great post
@MrJKILLA7 Thanks for saying so. The Playstation is what got me into gaming it had a huge impact on me. Alot of my videos are dedicated to the greatest console of all time, the Playstation.
Sony didnt make this video. It was outsourced to maverick media who still exist and make promos to this day. Still an amazing video though, I get goosebumps every tine I watch it
the PS1 wasn't the first 6th gen console i've played, in fact it was the third one (the first being the Sega Saturn and the second one being the Nintendo 64), but when i bought my PS1, around 2002 (i was 7), it was a groundbreaking experience, a feeling that i only had again now in 2012, with the recent purchase of my PS3, it was with great joy that i gave my PS1 to a little kid, so he could have the same experience i had when i first played it.
Prince: There was a VHS tht came with the Gamemaster mag once and it had this on it. I loved it. And still have it actually i might upload the whole thing so you can see it.
Damn you, Sephiroth, damn you!! :( (I haven't finished playing the game yet, so please don't tell me what happens past the part where you're in the Northern Crater on Disc 3!)
I always thought sony got the marketing spot on with PS1 in way they haven't managed with the PS2 and 3. There was no pissing around with creepy plastic babies, alien girls or a bunch of people with major facial tics. Just a chilled out tune in the background and a load clips of some amazing games.
At the time of the first two Grand Tourismo... Everybody was talking about it, was awesome, peeps would share their garages, talk about the races, car mods, multiplayer from 2 was really cool... Then it kind of died out with the 3rd one.... Even if there is up to GT6... The excitement is not really there anymore....
I don't know...the PS1 was very longlasting but the PS2 wasn't. My friend went through about 6. Mine lasted a long while but could only play discs that were in near perfect condition, whereas the PS1 could play a CD that had been chewed by a pack of hungry dogs.
Hello from the future, the ps5 is coming out this year in 2020, unfortunately we are on the brink of ww3 and a major outbreak from a new virus thats sweeping the world, either than that im gonna buy that ps5 that comes out at the end of the year and im buying the ff7 remake next month so thats cool
Dear uploader, dont ever remove this video, you will be taking away part of my life.
The 90s were a good time. N64, PS1, Dreamcast.
When everyone cared about the games, not the console.

Good Times! I remember watching this on an GamesMaster video back in the day with UBIsoft after this video!
Oh thank you this was on the Gamemaster xmas special vhs in 1997 and i've been searching high and low for this...downloaded :)
The music track was written for the video by Michael Conn and Nick Franglen. Vocals by Cathi, rap by Adrian 'EQ'.

Bro, thank you for this upload, I remember this soundtrack and been searching for this video for years, I also had the VHS promo tape.
Brings back memories of the good ol'days.
Honestly that opening video was extremely spot on especially between cool titles like Hercules, Crash, FF, Z, Oddworld. And much much more
Like literally the best part about all this was that it had Square soft CGI, Disney animation. And surprisingly Live action that looks accurate
holy shit, have been looking for this for years (had this on my playstation). thanks for uploading it :-)
Same here. I could only remember the freedom to destroy lyrics :-)
Fantastic video, they couldnt do that nowadays, with such a touch of love :)

Ah memories. MDK was a stunning game, amazing for it's time. 'Overboard' was bloody impossible!
Yes.
@MrJKILLA7 Thanks for saying so. The Playstation is what got me into gaming it had a huge impact on me. Alot of my videos are dedicated to the greatest console of all time, the Playstation.

4:51 - 8:11 PaRappa The Rapper (PS1)

I loved both. The Sega Saturn was awesome...I miss the Sega Saturn controllers, they were nice.
Они были просто Good

@Mat21III Thank you so much!
I guess those scenes were in the Spawn game that was shown.
Always wanted to find out the song that plays at the start of this video but never could
I remember reading Marshall McLuhan's theories that all games were a tribal exercise.
i bought it in 1996 with the old time classic game...Crash Bandicoot!!!16 years ago...oh god!
I want that song.. fucking awesome video
omg ive been trying to find the answer to what that song is for YEARS!!!!! someone help me!! i have the video too!

Prince: There was a VHS tht came with the Gamemaster mag once and it had this on it. I loved it. And still have it actually i might upload the whole thing so you can see it.
Ok
Playstation was not sixth Gen, it was Fifth Generation. Sixth Generation was PS2, and we are in the twilight years of the Seventh Generation.
Wow! Between 6:20 and 6:25,you can clearly hear Mario Shouting to his death from Mario 64!
Where's the rest of the video (for other consoles). I loved this promo video, I still have the VHS somewhere, kept if for all these years!
Restayvien hey I know you made this comment long ago but is there a title for the vhs? I want to go searching for iy
Je trouve que aujourd'hui il y a certain moment de la vidéo c'est un peu creepy la musique 😱 mais la vidéo était impressionnante pour l'époque 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Play station marketing sure ain't the same now. In fact, judging by the sudden release of Sy 4, there is no marketing
6:00 What the heck were scenes from Spawn the animated series doing in there!?
very cool music! does anyone has tracklist ? at least the very first song.
Damn you, Sephiroth, damn you!! :(
(I haven't finished playing the game yet, so please don't tell me what happens past the part where you're in the Northern Crater on Disc 3!)
have you beat the game now? :)
@@AshitanoJonas
No. He's still in North Crater.
Those branching paths, man.
PS1 raped the N64...hard.
I always thought sony got the marketing spot on with PS1 in way they haven't managed with the PS2 and 3. There was no pissing around with creepy plastic babies, alien girls or a bunch of people with major facial tics. Just a chilled out tune in the background and a load clips of some amazing games.
wild 9 sir
There is still marketing. It's just all done online now.
I need the song BAD !
Jesus fucking Christ, look at the age of this video and these comments. I always forget RUclips is 20 years old as of 2 months from now
D: You missed a golden age :(
Good thing the Xbox 360 and not more things Appeared spots consoles like the second spot in Mr plow in the simpsons .
La psx1 era la ostia.
im kinda sad i was never introduced to gaming before the PS2. i think my parents were a bit afraid of video games
@salared2 It was more than just that, if I were to list all the great moments I'd go on for a while.
@suddnstar forgetting grand theft auto 1 and 2 and Gran turismo 1 and 2 arnt we
@suddnstar I totally agree
@lyris1 Sega were guilty of the same thing with the Megadrive (Genesis) during the early 90's in the US & Europe.
oh yeah, thanks, i got confused there
At the time of the first two Grand Tourismo... Everybody was talking about it, was awesome, peeps would share their garages, talk about the races, car mods, multiplayer from 2 was really cool...
