This is a compilation of Sega Genesis commericals during the 1980's and 1990's. It's a fun trip back to my first all originally owned game system outside of my brother's NES. No copyright infringement is intended. Covered under fair use for educational purposes. I tried to put the videos chronologically with dates I knew they were recorded or with researching the release of games. Enjoy....I might do the same for other systems.
1st Sega RUclips Video got around 3700 views
2nd Sega RUclips Video got 51127 views Игры
6:57 wins every advertisement award ever.
@Retro Dave lmao
Just Google Veg-O-Matic by Ron Popeil. But wait, there's more! Every trope in that commercial was first created by that genius of a man and his people.
The the voice of Mark Elliot. ruclips.net/video/JQRtuxdfQHw/видео.html He is famous for being the voice of Disney trailers.
it's hilarious. I love when advertisements were really out there. 90s were awesome.
@stephen schneider 11june1986 😉
The 90s was the GREATEST decade ever and I thank God I was a kid during that time.
That wouldn’t be me. I was born in the late 90s.
Yeah I was a kid in that era. I wish I was a kid in this era.
@@tonyp9313 No you don't
@@danieldevito6380 For sure. I heard in this era as a kid you get an Iphone 12, Newest Ipad, a PS5, tons of video games to choose from..You can even go retro & have an arcade with 100's of games at your house.
@@tonyp9313 You obviously never heard of the Sega Genesis, SNES, Game Boy Color, Sega Game Gear, Nintendo 64, Sega Saturn, NeoGeo, PlayStation, Sega CD, Jaguar, 32 X, Mega Jet, Virtual Boy, Nomad, GB Color, among many, MANY more? The 90s was the Golden Era of gaming. More gaming consoles came out from 1990-2000 than from 2000-2022 and beyond. Ask any gamer who was around during the 90s and they'll universally agree that the current state of gaming doesn't even come close.
The move from 8-bit to 16-bit was the greatest step humankind ever done. I was literally blown away by the 16-bit graphics and sound in the late 80s.
I'd say 16 to 32 was bigger, but yeah, this is great.
@@ninjacat230 I agree
@@ninjacat230 i was blown away from 16 color to 256 color transmition. That was huge jump in PC history, maybe mostly noticable.
That and from 2d to 3d.
16 to 32 is the biggest leap ever.
to be fair, the "space age polymer plastic" that sonic 2 is made of is still holding up today and shows no signs of slowing down.
And he s even faster now !
And every cartridge from Atari to NES Nintendo 64 still holding up just fine too surprisingly even the unlicensed titles on NES color dream tengen they're all still holding up

Cual ese pinche erizo de mierda?
This ads still doing their job, now i wanna buy genesis
Remember seeing those as a kid. Amazing how long ago that was now. Really was a great time to be a kid.
Back when ads weren't a chore to sit through.
When you didn't go scrambling for the mute button
When they showed actual gameplay.
only the infomercials always were
Today is the 30th Anniversary when the Sega Genesis was first released in North America

The Genesis had the most badass commercials. My favorite console ever.
@@mathieudutertreyoutubeurs2074 after super nintendo
I have a Genesis with like 7 or so games
@ChillLetsPlays i have a SNES as well and i agree entirely
My TerraOnion Mega SD has yet to arrive. It will make my Sega Genesis a complete system.
@@machrider2333 do you have a model 1 or 2?
To be honest, these commercials are interesting to watch, compared to today's video game commercials.
I had a Megadrive and grew up as a teenager in the UK so we were spared garbage advertising like this.
Honestly, no wonder the rest of the world look down on the U.S.A.
@@bigbabatunde1218 dunno what you’re on about there checked UK sega commercials and they were just as cracked
@@CBHPwnz Nah, British ads weren't as in your face as the U.S ones were.
I remember the 'cyber razor cut' ad. That was classy compared to some of that state side trash.
@Eduardo Mendez You mean American companies
@Big Babatunde wow someone thinks very highly of themselves. And yes, video gm commercials are why ppl hate us. You brillant person
You never realize how much you love your childhood until it’s gone. Goddamn these were the days! When homework and annoying relatives were your only worry.
The ads that are just 20 seconds straight of screaming... *sigh* the 2010's feel so sterile.
Best console ever made. Still play it to this day.
You don’t have to use the Genesis anymore because guess what? They’re back on the Nintendo Switch!
Yes you do nintendo suck@@George-zk4nv
6:57 Wow, what a great commercial! Seriously if I was a late teen or 20 year old something back in those times who just had a Nintendo, I would instantly go get me a Genesis after seeing that commercial.
The best line from Sega.... "Discover Genesis and your world will never be the same".
That Sonic 2 commercial is gold. Gold.
I still remember that one commercial from when I was a kid where everybody was like "I heard Matt got a Sega Genesis"! He must have been Mr. Popularity haha!
Wow! This brought back a lot of memories. I remember watching some of these commercials way before flat screen television sets were introduced the public.
I sometimes forget how Xtreme the early 90s were. It's amazing any of us survived
I’ll take Xtreme over today’s EXTREME any day
I survived by playing BattleToads
Just imagine you travel back in time with ps5 , you will be the coolest kid ever in your neighborhood.
omg you will be the god of video games!
4:45 I love this one. "You can choose between two Master System games or the add on you need to play them!"
I saved up forever to get this when it came out. It was the first time I hooked up my console to my stereo speakers, what an experience. Soo many memories, Streets of Rage, Revenge of Shinobi, Moonwalker, I swear even the Mickey Mouse game was fun Castle of Illusion. They even had a game about a dolphin that was fun lol
I still vividly remember being 9 years old and seeing that very first “biblical” ad. I was totally blown away by the messaging/visuals and from then on obsessed with getting this system. Thankfully my mom capitulated and so started an amazing few years of 16-bit gaming.
My mom got me into gaming by buying me and Amiga in 89, Mega Drive in 91, PlayStation in 95
Brings back memories i was 15 years old when this released in 1989 and i want to go back
lmao I was like 4. Didn't even understand how cool genesis was till about 91.
Bro, you ain’t the only one.... I’d trade everything I own to go back to that time.
Y’all are not alone because I also want to go back to the 80s and 90s!
I guess I'll get started on the time machine then....
@@MrOffroadjunkie Good! Do that!
Nintendo: now you're playing with power
Sega: HOLD MY BEER
Nice one...I had the Sega Genesis...my brother first had the NES and then the Super NES..fire up the emulators
I still have my SEGA :3
So I don't need an emulator
@@sirhellguitarlord5176 Same here...just easier to run the emulators..I also have a Sega CD
Somehow I see Sega drinking a Pepsi
The level of absurdity in 90s commercials still amazes me
Sega Mega Drive kicks ass! I used to play it back in the mid-90s up until 1999. I resumed playing it in 2000 when I discovered Funcoland.
Wow
Hey everyone, Matt got a Sega Genesis.
I remember my mother saving pennies when me and my siblings were little ones and she went and got us a Sega Genesis with it. First Sonic came with it.
I remember when my uncle bought me the Sega Genesis, it came with Streets of Rage 2 and my uncle also bought me Golden Axe 2, Good times times back in the early 90's.
@@kardariuskannon8477good times
sega commericals were ahead of the time in terms of bizarre and gross humor, fast editing, pop culture references, and the trends of the 90s. god bless sega
*16-17 minutes of genesis commericals later*
me: i’ve reached gaming enlightenment
Contra: Hard Corps. One of my favorite Genesis titles!
Hard AF
I am a Sega kid, and always will be....Sega!
I'm right with you👍👍✔
I was a nintendo kid, but Sega was great 👍. Bought one from the thift store in 02. Saturn, dreamcast, master system, genesis were all great. 32x and cd sucked tho
Sega Rules👍👍

Ad executive 1: "Perfect!"
Sega Genesis is a legend !
Nice to meet you.
I am Japanese.
Thank you for uploading the video.
Thanks to you, I saw a commercial of SEGA in USA.
I am very happy because I am a SEGA fan.
Sega was smart enough to put game footage in their commercials that's what grabbed me I bought the Altered beast early console hit up Funco for most of my games also had the X-band and Sega Channel
I remember everyone of these advertisements. I actually laughed so hard I was in tears at the Aladdin commercial. When the kid said prove it and he turned him into a dog...the laughter coming from his friend was so damn funny, then he gets turned into a fire hydrant. This accurately translates to- piss on him. ;)
2:00 this one is my favorite because getting near arcade quality games at home felt like having an amusement park at the home. Mega Drive started bridging what was a huge gap between arcades and home consoles and the Dreamcast was finally able to to it near perfectly.
I totally know that feeling of viewing great arcade boxes/titles like they were created by some ultra-advanced alien race due to their exotic high performance and proper "unobtanium" status for literally anyone w/o assloads of $ or loaded friends/parents. Sega captures that sentiment well in that ad, but they also tooootally oversold & underdelivered on the notion Genesis could faithfully recreate arcade-tier gameplay at home instead of the watered-down facsimiles tailored for its hardware. You''re spot-on about the DCast though as it was the first home console to truly reach arcade parity without the fucking obscene costs attached to it like the NeoGeo did. Btw DCast still looks phenomenal when properly upscaled on a modern HDTV & to the degree that it makes the PS2 look yuck imo
@@kurtilingus Yeah exactly. The arcade games at home marketing on the Mega Drive didn't bother me back in the day because the MD was still such a huge step up in graphics and features compared to the 8-Bit generation. It was comparable to stepping up from a 720p PS3 to a 4K PS5. And the quality of games in general went up because 7/10 i was kind of dissapointed in the games i bought for the Master System but on the Mega Drive i was happy with 9/10 games i got. And many arcade games were decent enough. Still when i was at the arcade i knew there was a pretty big difference.
I noticed the biggest difference with Bonanza Bros because i had it on the Master System, Amiga 500 and Mega Drive and the arcade version looked almost life like it was much ahead of the home ports.
I’d argue dc looks best on a CRT VGA monitor running at 480p progressive native, you get the benefits of CRT, clean RGB video, and progressive scan.
I'm dying here lmfao these aged well.
Genesis was the shit back in the day, I got mine in 1990, good times!
The first commercial got me so excited. I would watch that and beg my mom for one.
6:56: there was a Sonic Mania ad that referenced this commercial
Thanks for uploading it.
Rampart. I remember playing for hours against my pops growing up. So many good memories.
I want a Genesis for Christmas.
Perfect! Just exactly where my head is stuck in, mostly-the 80’s to 90’s! 😂 👍

Really GREAT TIMES!!! I played TMNT, SONIC, TOEJAM & EARL and other great games!!! When I got bored I just grabbed Actionmen figures and went play outside with my friends :) such a great times!!!

"You can't do this on Nintendo!"

Super Monica gp was such a fun game the box and instructions were well done too. Great memories there
Welcome to the next level changed a lot
This was pretty cool, i cant remember any of the the sega ads from back in the day... i remember buying both sms and mega drive (genisis) tho
I love how you use video games making them in real time.
A commercial apparently influenced by the Ridley Scott Apple commercial which was a take on George Orwell's 1984. Pretty cool and nostalgic.
I should have added that to this day I still frequently quote “this is not good” from this commercial. That’s the power of advertising!
6:57 just killed me. Every infomercial ever.
They also had it before the Sonic Mania game.
6:57 I Freaking Love This Commercial
An iconic system. Sega!
16 bit arcade! Blast processing! Space age polymer plastic!

It's crazy how some companies just had ads figured out: if you make ads fun and goofy, people don't mind watching them. When it's all "Save 20% on your car insurance today", people do mind watching them. Feels like this has always been the case, yet from my very limited exposure to live television these days, all commercials are just extremely dull and safe. Smiling normal people having positive interactions, company logo, jingle, cut.
I love how Buster Douglas owned that shit after he got knocked out. Didn't matter if he was the champ or not, still had a good boxing game. Not as good as Punch-Out, but still good, and Sega still used him to promote it after he lost.
Considering his game was just a reworking of the home port of Taito's Final Blow.
Sega always had some good deals. These commercials got me all giddy from nostalgia.
Does anyone remember the Sega commercial where a big fat guy used his stomach to mouth the word “Sega!” at the end?
Young Bobby later had his grades drop by 96% after getting Sega Genesis and Had to do the grade all over again!
"I said chocolate chip." 😹😹😹🎮
I don't remember watching much tv when I was younger(less than 8), which may explain why I never seen many of these commercials.
My GOSH! SEGA had such GREAT MARKETING, back then!
Sega ads were so fucking wild, and I love it
Sega Genesis is so very awesome I love Sega Genesis 😍✌️
It's funny how well it held its value.
30 years later & it still costs exactly the same 😂
Sega is so crazy i love it.
What's even more badass is that the band naked city is playing in the backgrounds of some of these.
That bit where you use the Sonic 2 cartridge as a napkin to clean up the stain and use it as a knife to cut up onion pieces, celery, and make fries.🤣😂😂🤣
What a way to start this video. The parody of the notable 80s Apple commercial.
I wish I was born back then so I could get my hands on these awesome games and consoles.
Well, you can relive your childhood memories when you play Sega Genesis on Switch!
Requires Nintendo online expansion pack just play mobile, pc, or console versions like the genesis classic or og genesis
8:57 This is exactly how I was.
06:49 love that 80's/90's room
I am a veteran of the great 90s Console Wars. I am a proud Sega veteran.
As a proud Sega Genesis owner, I can certainly say that Genesis does indeed does what Nintendon’t.
I own both systems the model 1 and model 2 till this day i absolutely love playing them till this day very day and I am only 37 but I grew up on this memory's
Had a Nintendo til high school when I got my Sega. Never looked back. Until I got my Playstation.
i love how they put the "SEGA" Scream every single time in the most unsuspicius places, The hotdog, the eternal champions box jajajaja
@Jim Notor jaja
@Jim Notor i dont see the problem its seems no to bother your mom jajajajajajajajajajaj
I had completely forgotten Robert Bakker did a Sega commercial.
The commercial at 5:00 slaps so hard 💥
Reminds me of the "Don't Do Drugs" rap commercials
The Best one for price, design, quality, power, catalogue
The X is neXt.
32X commercial sold me on it. A lot of people were disappointed in it. Not me, but I'm a collector as well. Still have my Virtual Boy too, still play it. Never once got a headache from it.
I remember a Sonic 2 commercial where kids are putting their ears to the ground to hear him coming
amazing. Commercial
I remember my Sega Genesis. Good times.
I'm just dying filled with nostalgia over watching these commercials and seeing clips of the games. I've played them all, some games I had at home while my friends had others. Thank God I grew up with the Genesis and not the SNES.
Both consoles were awesome in their own way. First Genesis game I ever played was Revenge of Shinobi...it blew my mind!
The Sega Genesis has blast processing. Super Nintendo doesn’t. So what’s blast processing do?
Des publicités avec une âme 👍
