    I have been using these wires for many years. The most important thing is that it is very convenient to charge different devices with the same cord. Now it doesn’t matter if it’s Apple, Android or what else. Protects the charging port from destruction. It is also convenient for people who do not see well enough. And It's also cool that they glow in the dark

      Yes exactly! From the cable running to my game seat I can charge my PS5 controller, PS4 controller, Sense controllers for the PSVR2, my phone, and more! Super handy, and no wear and tear on the items sockets either! Love them! 🙂

      I can't believe I never thought of this. I always get stuff in my charging port from working on a farm, hay dust & grinding dust are what killed the charging port on my old phone. I'm gonna have to try this

    Some observations after having used the Statik 360 Pro for some time: after measuring (from the battery, as unfortunately I haven't been able to test yet) I'm able to consistently get 1.8-2A from non-OEM chargers ranging from 15W to 180W, so the connection type *will* mitigate charge rate, but not so much to make the trade-off unacceptable. Also, there are physical considerations if you're using this type of connection (i.e., magnetic)-metal debris will build up in the cable-side of the connector, but you can easily remove it by using the adhesive side of some duct tape to pull it out. Also, corrosion will build up over time and reduce charging efficiency; don't use anything more abrasive than 3M 7445 Light Duty/Scotch Brite or you'll remove the protective coating and the corrosion will simply get worse.

    • @DarrellVermilion
      @DarrellVermilion 13 дней назад

      @THOTH36944 So far I haven't experienced them getting hot at all, but I'm also _only_ using them to charge phones so the amperage is likely too low to generate much (if any) heat.

    Any recommendations for a set or brand that's actually rapid charging? I've tried like 4 different brands, 2 of which said "fast charging". I used the rapid charging bases that plug into the wall, and with the regular chargers, it worked fine. When i used the magnetic charging cables, they were only as fast as a non-rapid charger.
    You know of one that is actually the high-speed charging that's also magnetic? The magnetic charging cords are a game changer. I just need them in the rapid charging speeds! The magnetic port had saved all my devices that still use the old micro-usb, and with having 3 little kids, it saved some ipads from taking a tumble during charging. Amazing stuff!

      Statik are the ones you are after, just make sure they ARE Statik cables and not just using the name in the description. They are a lot more expensive than the ones in the video, but are very very good! 😀 And yes I love the 'quick release' of these too in case of being snagged or pulled!

    The dogs or cats running into the cable and pulling my phone out of my hand could be a problem, depending where im sitting. Most of the time its not since my charger is right on the floor at the corner of the couch were i sit, and theres a night stand there as well, but if i sit further over, or they get in my face and jump up on the couch, for sure, but no doubt if its across the floor. Also, depending if im holding my phone vertically, its usually fine, but horizontal its a problem, unless i use a 90° cable, but its too much of a hassel to switch back and forth. I can really see this cable being super useful, especially with multiple different ends. Great review!!

  • @roaransky7163
    @roaransky7163 9 месяцев назад +2

    The only bad thing with these cords is that they don’t follow any actual safety protocols that normal usb cables follow. This means any warranty for the device is void when you start using them. And because they don’t follow the same industry standards it can end up frying the device and in extreme cases it could even cause a fire (I haven’t looked up any examples of this but saw other people saying these were causing fires).
    So for cheaper replaceable items, these work great. But they aren’t worth the risk for more expensive or irreplaceable items. And it’s probably worth spending a bit more to prevent a fire due to super cheap/poor cables

    • @honestrob
      @honestrob  9 месяцев назад +3

      I've seen devices get damaged by 'official' USB cables too, including fires, and indeed had an expensive item get fried by a 'industry standard' USB cable before so not sure the safety element is any different. And if on the slim chance the magnetic cable did cause damage to something under warranty, the vast majority of people are not going to mention the charge cable type if indeed that was relevant. I know what you mean though regarding the super cheap cables and expensive items. I would not charge a £1000 item using a £1 cable from Temu for example! 🙂

    • @roaransky7163
      @roaransky7163 9 месяцев назад +1

      That’s totally fair. The ironic thing is sometimes that Temu cable is the exact same quality as the cheaper cables on Amazon. I guess the most important thing is to be aware and supervise new cables just in case!
      I’m still going to use these cables for kids items since then they can charge them themselves. It’s rather perfect for it! And it’s not like the cables will do anymore damage than the kids hahaha

    • @honestrob
      @honestrob  9 месяцев назад +2

      @@roaransky7163 Haha true! I'm reviewing some Temu stuff soon - most of it is not as bad as a lot of people may think! 🙂

    The other MAJOR CON of these is that if you get any debris near them that’s ferrous in nature (ie metal filings) they will stick to the magnets FOREVER!!!!! You can do your very best to get every particle off them but you just can’t and if they get in the way at all of the connection rings they can actually short circuit the cable and burn them and create a fire hazard and definitely wreck the cable and may wreck your device as well. Sadly I have learned this the hard way. Luckily my devices were fine but I have gone through several cables and tips and it keeps happening and the once brilliant idea and ease of use to have literally 1 cable charge everything and all the money I spent on it thinking it was the greatest invention of all time has all gone to waste and caused me to throw out every ounce of it. Unless they can come up with a system where the magnet isn’t near the connectors and only the cable is magnetic and not the tip that goes into your devices then sadly this whole idea is the biggest bust ever. Buyer Beware!!!!!

  • @cary_matheson
    @cary_matheson 9 месяцев назад +2

    Neat idea. Does it charge just as fast or is it slower? Does the magnet affect hte electronics?

    • @honestrob
      @honestrob  9 месяцев назад +4

      The charge time for the cheap ones I got in the video was the same as when plugged into the device/console, but will depend on which ones you get, make sure you get the faster charging ones. No effect from the magnet so far that isn't any different from the standard cable 🙂

  • @g-ed0818
    @g-ed0818 Месяц назад

    I have been using this kind of cables for many years now (6 pin data cable), supports fast charging and serve all what i need, my only problem with this kind of ports was if the magnetic port head falls to the ground, dirt will stick to it and need to clean it to avoid short circuit, just like what happened to my other one.. but it was great it last longer than normal cables, just keep the magnetic head free from dirt..
