i learned to wheelie in 3 months, i did not have any experience with MTB or anything with bikes. And these are the things that helped me the most: 1. The rear brake, and falling backwards. Once you kind of lose the fear of falling it becomes easier, so train on falling on feet backwards and train in soft ground like grass and not pavement. 2. Keep pedaling, these was one of my main mistakes. Once i popped one wheelie I started to pedal really fast until i cannot do it anymore, then i start losing balance and fall. But use your rear brake (just tap it) when you reach the point of pedaling too fast. 3. A really important one, once i kind of learned to wheelie. One day i just could not do it anymore, the whole day my wheelies were really short compared to the day before. And this solved everything: the air pumped in to the back wheel. This still matters for me right now. If i have too much air i lose balance i have too less i also lose balance and can't almost pop the wheelie. So make sure that the air pumped is on point for you to wheelie. 4. Training too much, at my first like 2 weeks, i was training hours and hours per day to wheelie. But my progress wasn't that much, so eventually i stopped training everyday. Instead i started training once every 3 or 4 days. And that helped me a lot. I'm not sure how, but it felt like my brain processed better what i was and wanted to learn, i'm not sure but it helped ME.

Then when summer brake was over in 2011 I came to the school way more talented than anyone and their reactions was priceless. *Train alot like alot alot* and never be scared of falling off eventually you will land on your legs and the most important part is learn how to use your hand brakes And make it tight so you can one tap To lower your height. *Sorry for my bad English* ~Thx if you are reading to this point~
*My wheelie guide & a little story: *They’re hard at first & you really need to be motivated. I’ve always seen people wheelie & was like I really want to do that and just the feeling of keeping a wheelie for a little bit while learning is just such a happy feeling. I put my mind to it and it came after about 2 years lol. I never get bored of it & never did because I loved wheelies & wheeleing. I’m pretty good now and I’m getting better & I surprise myself sometimes with what I can do. It really Is practice. One thing I found is sometimes taking a day break from practice or 2 day & coming back can really help. I remember it clicked & I was like what I can do it now 😂😂. *Learn to get the wheel in the air first.* start on a low gear & petal your brains out trying to keep that little wheelie going. (*never look at your front tire - it really holds you back*) Don’t even go for a balance point at this stage just work on keeping the tire in the air for just a little bit even just a couple pedals. *Second, try to get a balance point going.* balance point & holding it can be hard but try to get the feel for a balance point and start practicing with the break a little. At first, you’re just going to slam your tire to the ground or forget to use the break at all (*make sure to land on your feet. It’ll usually come to you but everyone has their falls) work on feathering the break to where you can pedal after your first brake touch without falling off the bike. The brake is the most important aspect to holding a long wheelie. That brake will be slammed the first times getting into the balance point because honestly, the first lots of times getting to the balance point is scary & personally I tossed myself back onto my feet a lot practicing. Eventually, when you get to that balance point & you can feather the break & continue the wheelie, just practice. Don’t stop practicing these techniques because it *WILL* come to you eventually - your level of motivation really plays a part. Don’t even start if you aren’t willing to continue & fail. Failure is a huge part & you will get mad, but use it to your advantage & try to learn from it. I’m no wheelie expert but I can sure wheelie & hold it for a pretty long time. I wrote this remembering all the practice I did and personally these were the steps I went with. Watching how to wheelie videos helps because you can learn a thing or 2 but just watching them really motivates me to go out and wheelie. As long as you’re comfortable on your bike you should be able to pull it off. Some bikes are harder than others but anyone can wheelie their bike (with exceptions). Good shocks really help. Thanks for anyone reading this far & I hope you learned a thing or 2. Comment what you think & stories if u want.
Same I learned the basics in a grass field at night. I still when possible practice at night even tho I have been able to wheelie for almost 4 years it’s still fun to practice in a lot at night.
A few secrets of myself doing infinite wheelies for nearly 20 years: When starting to learn it: Angle ur saddle a bit forward (easyer to maintain weight on saddle and less strain on arms when in wheelie), and have a proper rear brake. A RB that is too powerful and snappy isn't what u want either. My Shimano xtr brake is very nice for wheelie modulation but i've seen many other brakes that sucked for wheelie control. Also, practice stepping off the bike by flipping back on purpose, at low speed. Keep hold of handlebars when landing on feet so ur bike doesnt damage (this becomes alot more difficult if saddle is too high - medium saddle hight required, or low). Low speed is key, not more than 10mph or 16kmh but start way slower and build it up! Landing a wheelie gone too far on ur feet is a great way to create trust and faith, cos you know in worse case scenerario, u can land it on ur feet. If you want to know more, reply in this thread and ill get back to u soon. Here is a vid of my friends group from many years ago, where we're all nailing all kinds of wheelies. me and my friends taught ourselves how to wheelie. it was the summer between 7th and 8th grade, and we spent the whole thing drinking monsters and practicing wheelies in a large school parking lot. by the end of the summer, we were able to swerve cars, wheelie for blocks, uphill, downhill, coasters, off of curbs, etc. we were both on entry level xc bikes that costed around $400. a few years later, i’m still able to wheelie like that, but the a skill i never got down was the one hander. that shit still feels impossible even though some of my friends can do it forever.
You realy need to squeeze the saddle as tight as possible and get the right side of the bars towards you. If you dont realy have any grip on your saddle it gonna be impossible. You could try holding the seat with your left hand that worked for me
Thank you Ryan Leech for being the reason I mountain bike and trials ride! Wheelies are the first thing I learned, and the first thing I try do on any bike to see how it feels.

At the driving school I was driving 2 hours each time and did 15 courses. Now i feel like I could jump in a lambo and own it :)). This should keep you motivated if you cant wheelie!
I tried learning wheelies for 2 years and barely made progress. But in one night everything just clicked. A mix between feathering the brake, keeping arms and hands slack and loose, pushing in with the hips, and having a smooth pedal stroke allowed me to learn 4 times more in one night than in one year. Essentially, if you stay committed, there's no way you won't learn to wheelie.
This is a very good idea of how to wheelie. My top tip is to drop your seat. start by dropping it by half. Unless you're me, i slam mine. Keeps that front wheel niceeee and highhh. Also, my top tip #2 is. If you haven't looped out a wheelie and smashed your butt/back on the pavement, you won't be wheelieing anytime soon. YOu need to loopout a wheelie a few times before you get it, or you're never know where to start feathering the brake.
Everyone who can’t wheelie watching the how to wheelie tutorial number 351, thinking: “this one just cracked the code for sure”

"Many Trials, Many Styles, this is Ryan Leech."
Thanks! It took me a day to do 10m wheelie, and now a month and a half later i can do 200m+ wheelies!
Ryan Leech!! Wow, I remember watching his clips from Kranked... legend! Wheelies take some practice.
Manuals take practice and commitment....
