- We have a more detailed, updated M20J video. Please make sure to watch that here: • Video
I used this 1977 Mooney M20J complex GA airplane to review the features and performance of the M20J model. This Mooney aircraft is currently for sale also; I have all phots, scanned logbooks and more details here: www.aerolifeav...
It is called a Mooney 201 because it has a top speed of 201 mph. With only a 200hp engine. This aircraft performance beats all other 200hp GA aircraft: with a speed faster than many 235hp aircraft and a ceiling of 18,800ft but one of the greatest advantages of this Mooney is the low operational cost. Some pilots will fly them Lean of Peak (LOP) at speeds of up to 170mph with a fuel burn of only 8gph. It has a very strong construction including a steel cage around the fuselage and a single piece wing; I've even included a cool photo I found of over 30 people standing on the wing of a similar M20J.
As an aspiring pilot this video is outstanding for showing every step in detail with actual explanations. Thanks.
Thank you, your comment is appreciated. We wanted to do exactly that - educate people that may not know much about this type of plane.
That’s a beautiful Mooney. absolutely love the red white and blue very nicely done
I loved flying the Mooney. And I'm one of those who thinks that it IS easy to land. I love the fact that you can come in on approach with a level attitude and even enter ground-effect at that same attitude. It reminds me of doing an approach and landing in a KC-135.
With the right power management and approach speeds, it is an easy plane to land.
Cool stuff. Just got my PPL in a 172 and I’m now going to get passed out on the Mooney. Can’t wait!
Great video and excellent representation of the plane! I just recently purchased a 1985 Mooney M20J and absolutely love it! I just started a RUclips channel where I fly my Mooney M20J cross-country to repossess vehicles.
I'm not a fan of the Gator colors but I do live in Florida and am starting my search for a Mooney J model:) I will look at this if it's still there in a few months due to this worldwide drama we are going through, sigh. Might be a good time to find some planes for cheap;)
We had nice upgrades done to this plane. I'll be posting a more detailed video about Mooney M20J soon. If you subscribe to the channel you will see it. I don't think used plane prices will go down unless this drags for very long time. Most people own planes are financially stable. They love their planes. People plannig to buy new will settle for used planes. A veery limited number of these models available.
Yea. Someone talking numbers. Thankyou.
Beautiful airplane
thanks
i own one in flight simulator x mooey m20j they are fast great video aero life
To land u must be on the performance numbers for given conditions. This will make all landings much easier.
You're definitely right, especially low wings. Fly by the numbers and compensate for the weight and wind so you can have a nice landing.
This is my absolutely Dream plane. 🥰
It is a nice plane to own.
Nice review! Is this plane for sale?
Yes it is. You can see all the details of the Mooney on this website: www.aerolifeaviation.com/Item/Index?idun=2&1977-MOONEY-M20J-201
Gosto muito desta aeronave.
Linda também. SBSL
obrigado
128 knots @ 6GPH, was the nose pointed straight down. Its not a RV6
M20J can do even better than that.
Here is the link to POH .
page 84. 6.7GPH 129 to 138 knots depends on the weight. With a little tailwind, even faster.

thats what mooneys are known for bro
Actual performance numbers you must refer to POH!
absolutely, everyone should use POH numbers.
Nice plane and competitively priced to sell. How come you haven't owned it for very long?
I have a newer video for this plane

The Interieur is Great!
Thank you very much, very useful video for me.
Sad that's already sold :-(
I'm looking for nice Mooney/Arrow/Bonanza below 80K USD.
Thank you for watching the video. I am glad you found it useful
is it normal to land with Zero Flaps?
How much do you want for it?
what size is the Lycoming? in Liters?
Thanks
We usually land M20J with full flaps. Gusting winds no flaps. Flaps are not as effective as in Cessna's
@@aerolife1646 I see I see Thanks for that tip
How much are you asking
You can see all of the details of the Mooney on this website: www.aerolifeaviation.com/Item/Index?idun=2&1977-MOONEY-M20J-201
You can contact through the site or call the number there with any questions. Thanks
Is that a Narco Superhomer...lol
Money would be better spent on the panel than the paint imo
Exactly my thoughts. They highlight previous owner was a Navy instructor and Airline Pilot. Must have been a scud running scum bag. No back up vacuum pump, A/P inop! Electric trim Inop!
Actually, we had a flight with him. He was a very good pilot. I like to buy from an experienced, knowledgeable pilot/owner. The autopilot is operational now and it's just the yoke switch needing to replace for the electric trim.
18k ceiling?
18,400 actually - that is an impressive number for a normally aspirated engine
My dad got his up to 19,000
But the average person weighed a lot less in 1977.
Thanks for watching; You may be on to something there.
It has an Engine, not a motor.
You're correct. I've used the term engine for all newer videos.
We don’t travel in mph
Robert, I did not quite understand what you meant. Mooney M20J is also called a 201 because it's top speed is 201mph - that is what it was named by Mooney. The POH of this model also refers to speeds in mph. Newer aircraft models and avionics reference knots.
Robert D, you could also look at the Mooney 231, and 252....guess how fast they go in MPH !
Wow...you need a better narrator. Or maybe she shouldn't try to read the script off her cell phone?
We do need to improve the quality of our videos - we are working on that.
I trained in Archers and Seminoles and currently instruct in Skyhawks and Twinstars. I've had my eye on an M20 as a first plane. Theres always room for improvement but this video was plenty informative.
@@domc327 Thank you for your comment. We are making another video with much greater detail which will come out soon.
You sound cute
What a piece of junk Beechcraft the only way to go
These are the type of comments I would never make for any airplane. Each person has personal preference but doesn't give the right to condemn other types.
