Classic Uncle Milt Jackson 🇺🇸 on top of his game in his later years, there will never be another one like him to bless humanity with his jazz chemistry, may his soul RIP. From Ballito, South Africa 🇿🇦
There are 7 people who have taken the time to dislike this....you might accidentally run into them somewhere along your journey .....see if you can help them out ...but don't get hung up if you can't.
'another?' Milt Jackson is Grand Master in lineage of vibraphone, the foundation of whom so many of us strive to build from. Lionel Hampton, before him, may be considered the father of the vibraphone, seeing as how he was 1st to record & apply improv to the instrument in the swing era. But Milt connected, that era, blues/gospel/soul, to bebop, & along with the Modern Jazz Quartet, significantly expanded the possibilities, that set the stage for many to come, including Bobby Hutcherson, Gary Burton, & Roy Ayers.
Milt Jackson is a vibraphone legend..... I would say he's up there in the top 3, together with Bobby Hutcherson and Lionel Hampton....... Unless of course you can name any more who might qualify....
I'm not into rating vibes players, but I used to hear a lot of Joe Locke on Bob Parlocha's radio show (clearly Bob liked his playing), and thought he was very good also.
What about Ray Norvo? Hampton, Jackson, Norvo and Hutcherson are the big four of vibraphone. Of course Gary Burton and Joe Locke are commendable players in their own rights.
This is jazz. The real thing ❤️
When the sun goes down and the evening comes on, a vibraphone, and the clink of crystal glasses.
My god! This is the real thing!
So great player ❤

I would include Gary Burton to that list.
I would say Gary Burton. I mean 4 mallet vibes is also a completly different world in some ways too though.
What about Terry Gibbs, Victor Feldman, Steve Nelson, Nat Steele, Ed Saindon, Victor Mendoza, Stefon Harris and 20 year old prodigy Sasha Berliner?
SWING IS THE THING WOW!!!!!!
Who on earth gave this a thumbs down!!!!???!!!
Who's in this band? Connie Kay on drums?
Red Norvo and Cal Tjader got busy. Gary Burton and Mike Manieri as well... Then you have a young dude, in respect to the vets,Steffon Harris.
