I couldn't understand one word! But I really don't care! I love this music just for itself. I am totally impressed by the exactness that this extremely complex piece of music is performed by this orchestra, choir, soloists and conductor. I have never listened to such a beautiful and satisfying piece of music. Kudos to all involved in this performance! I can't say enough good things about it!!!
One doesn’t need to understand the language, the entire orchestra and amazing voices speaks for itself.
It wouldn't hurt you if you use Google, you'll be surprised how mich you can learn trough the the music, especially European l. Give it a chance. Be brave😏
dont forgott Orff. This piece was written by him. it would never exist without him.
The lyrics to Carmina Burana are in 3 languages - Secular Latin, High Middle German and Old French. Not that I know those languages but we had to know the translations to have a feel for what we were singing. It's the most fun piece I've ever song. Twenty years later it still thrills me.

wow!!!!!!!! Thank you, GRACIAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is very literally the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I grasp the sacrifices these people made. Just. Wow. Wow.
Woooooo😅🤗💯👏👏
The transition from Ave formosissima to O Fortuna is pure beauty! Such as the entire piece of course but this always stands out to me.
Interesting, I feel you, same here. When I only listen to a snippet of the Carmina Burana, it is always the end, starting from Dulcissime.
@@dunkelselbst pppppPpppopppppppp
I always had the nostalgic feeling in this part. Like I want to listen to it again, I don't want it to end.
Can you explain for those not musically educated?
@@mrchrisadams43 Starting from roughly 55:55 - 56:18 the end of Ave formosissima and from 56:19 moving back to O Fortuna the theme or motif you heard at the beginning.
One of those exceptional works, one of those moments when a composer reaches beyond their ability and births a unique masterpiece. This has been a favorite for 60 years for me
Oh, my god. I cannot believe I found this. Oh, my god. This performance and recording are perfection. Perfection.
My only regret is that I cannot make it louder. Oh, my goodness. This is the most beautiful human thing I have ever seen. I wish with all of my heart that I might have been there. Wow. This is the recording I carry. Seeing it performed is blowing my mind.💐💐💐❤️🔥💥💥💥💋🇺🇸🌸
GUYS:" BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL SO UNBELIEVABLY, INCREDIBLY, EXTREMELY BEAUTIFUL ". THERE ARE NO WORDS ENOUGH TO ❤️ SAY HOW WONDERFUL YOU GUYS WERE. THANK YOU FOR SHARING. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Top performance!!! Congratulations to everybody!!!
An unparalleled rendition of a masterpiece. Bravo, bravo, bravo! . What an incredible performance! It’s like angels singing. So uplifting!.
Imagine listening to this after the fact, as a member of the choir or orchestra and finding fault with their performance? I know musicians don't like to listen to their own performances, but it just does not seem possible to find fault here.
Zpíval jsem v této kráse před 55ti lety a doteď to poslouchám pořád do kola!
This Tenor!! Absolute wholesome human being, I love his energy

Lol I forgot that I commented this :,)
@@themarruf yes 🤦🏻♀️! Thanks for correcting me. It is even said in the description of the video: Robert Orth is his name
Magnificent Performance ! So glad I renewed my yearly membership for this performance. Attending a LIVE performance of this well known work in it's entirety is an unforgettable experience. Goosebumps included *

YES ! Viva Ecuador, di Francia !
Human beings voice with real power. Very touching fine work. Thank you all.
This is perfection. I think it's the best interpretation I have heard so far, especially Robert Orth delivered a fantastic performance.
From Brazil. My favorite interpretation of this masterpiece.
That interpretation of Ego Sum Abbas really convert my sulking into laughter instantly
This and Ravel's pictures are my all time favorite pieces. Got the opportunity to perform both at university as a percussionist. So fun and such a challenge. This ensemble is so big... The tempos are all over the place. When I was a kid I'd sing along with a recording of this piece over and over again. You have to listen very carefully to everyone to sync everything together. And watch like a hawk.
Great Story, thx so much. Greetings from a crazy percussionfangirl🎚️🎛️🥁🥁🥁
@@HANSEN_Watt_Else pictures is better (more fun) from an instrumentation standpoint. But has a more straightforward tempo/time signature structure. But this... Lol... Is hard. It's fun in its own way, as in complicated. And... You can sing along if you want too. Lol.

I remember the first time I sang this is a "real" choir, I had thought that O Fortuna was the entirety of Carmina Burana. That's all I had ever heard of it as I heard it in a commercial, or TV show. Imagine my surprise when the many pages of music were handed out.
But my love of this work just grew.
These folks are amazing, I greatly enjoyed listening.
++ "I remember when I sang this _in_ a real choir"
This was simply a stunning performance for me, having seen a number of versions. I don't know the difficulty of the Latin text, but his relatively younger choir sang the whole performance without librettos! I can't imagine memorizing all of that Latin!!!
What an incredible performance! It’s like angels singing. So uplifting!

I've watched live performances of this in the past. Generally, the audience doesn't understand that the tenor is singing a humorous part and I caught myself being the only one chuckling during his one and only solo. Glad they allowed him to play a humorous pole during his performance.
An unparalleled rendition of a masterpiece. Bravo, bravo, bravo! 👏🏻👏🏻
yes Indeed bravo

Herr Orff, thank you so much for such a wonderful piece of music! Thank you to all the excellent performers! So many mixed feelings when I listen to it.

Music - it is the only one universal language, all nations can " speak" and understand. Great performance! I wish i could be on the tage and sing this magnificent piece by Carl Orff! I sang this as choir member in 1990- ies.
Solistes brillants
Bravo magnifique
Quels talents 😍😍
For those not in the know: the choir is supposed to say "abbas" at 35:35. Not "go owls". The owl is the Temple University athletic mascot. The white stylized letter "T" on a red background that the orchestra member is displaying on the right of the screen is the logo of Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, USA
The choir at 35:35 is supposed to say "Ha ha"
@@aimargarcia4716 I never looked at the sheet music, but nevertheless I'll take your word for it. Thanks

Great ! Bravo !! I love that and thanks for all !!!
Best version I have seen! Incredible singers!
Bravo. My wife and I heard Atlanta Symphony in the Atlanta Hall with Runnicles conducting, and we will never forget it. We bought the Telarc recording of the same orchestra in the same hall with the same director, and it was a marvelous reproduction, but this work here is equal to that. A great achievement to all.
incredible, wonderful, awsome, delightful the best Carmina Burana perfomance I ever seen, congratulations

I wish I could upvote this a hundred times. Kudos to the tenor soloist, he looks like he's having the time of his life.
Simplesmente ARREBATADOR!!!!
this piece is very difficult to perform, the choirs are SPOT ON! congratulations, fantastic interpretation
No it's not. Carmina Burana is Choral and Orchestral basic. Anyway, interpretation is good.
@@Rosendrache That totally depends on who is trying to perform it. My orchestra is trying to pick it up in two weeks, and it's not hard, but these are collegiate level musicians.
definetely one of the top 3, of the many versions I've seen and listened of Carl Orff glorious and magnificent top masterpiece. congratulations to Temple University.
I agree
This is the top version for me. Which others do you like?
Grazie e BUONA FORTUNA !
I think it's the best interpretation I have heard so far. Magnific
This is probably the best thing I have ever heard and seen. Strangely enough it made to go Church after a long time after I watching it.
the conductor knows all the words by heart and sings with the artists - it's cool
Conductors will often do this, even with well known songs such as the national anthem. This allows performers to more exactly follow the conductor and also encourages them to look up from their coral books so as not to get lost when trying to follow the conductor.
Ever since I first heard this musical masterpiece,I can never get enough of it.
@@snezanacarevic988 same feelings
It's his job to master the arrangement so it only makes sense
Feel like crying… absolutely wonderful!!!
I have always loved this since childhood 🤸🏾♀️💯!
I want this performance as my favorite audio version. That Baritone is amazing. What an actor/singer!
Robert Orth has performed many times with the Indianapolis Opera. I had the good fortune to work with him on Figaro several years ago. An amazing singer, actor and all around great guy. Check out the Opera Moby Dick that was recently broadcast on PBS. He's in that one as well!
Sadly, I read: Baritone Robert Orth passed away at the age of 72 on July 12, 2019 in Libertyville, IL. His website stated "he was the best baritone in his price range"! Nice sense of humor!
This performance is the best youtube version I have seen. The sound and video quality complements their great performance.
