God bless Jon Anderson. It just lifts your spirit listening to the guy. Go listen to his rendition of Awaken with Todmobile , it’s the greatest “live” performance on you tube in my estimation. Hope he carries on for years into the future, he’s created a niche of his own with his amazing voice and his captivating personality. How is it possible that Yes thought they could actually replace this genius??

The two best albums that Jon Anderson has done are
    The friends of Mr Cairo
    And
    In the city of Angels.
Even when you consider all of the incredible albums that he recorded with Yes these two albums really stand out.

Roine Stolt is the nordic guy he's referring to and he has an AMAZING album with him called Invention of Knowledge. It sounds to me like Roine is going to be playing guitar instead of Trevor with Yes in the future and that to me is EXCELLENT news!! YAY!!! :-)

Disagree with replacing Trevor. Jon and Trevor have magical chemistry and hopefully they still gonna release new stuff together. Chemistry with Roine (with all respect to Roine's achievements, particularly with Transatlantic) is nowhere near that. Actually Invention of Knowledge sounds lot like a mellow Flower Kings album (with JA singing on it).

There is this guy called Steve Howe if Jon wanted to create more YES, dont need replicas just the same way as todays YES dont need a replica for Jon to do the vocals. Trevor Rabin is a popmusic guitarist, great in his manner but he's not a good replacement for Steve. Steve, Jon, Alan and Rick is the guys if there shall be any more YES. All other combinations is ok but not the real goodie. Hard to replace Chris... But, good luck to Jon and his wonderful voice/music.

When I was 13 years of age, in 1977, I got into 8th grade. There were many new classmates, there was some 'storming' period. I ran into this unusual, sharp, witty, yet very down-to-earth boy called Alfred. 'Alfred' was an unusual name back then as it is today. Lisse 1977 wasn't particularly loaded with Alfreds.
Like me, Alfred was the youngest of an extended family; and like me, he made up his own mind about things. Yet unlike me, he got a weird musical taste of bands I'd never heard of because they were not in the Top 40. Alfred had a few older brothers and sisters who were 'into' that kind of music.
He told me about two acts, both starting with a Y. One was Neil Young, the other was YES. From then on, I checked out the 'Y' bin in the local record store.
Alfred got me a few cassette tapes, which I listened to during homework. Then I started to buy second-hand LP's for a few quid (bucks) (guilders, actually) from my pocket money. I still play those second-hand LP's now, 41 years later. Who would have guessed vinyl making a revival?
Alfred died at 21. At the brink of life. A victim of 'soft' drugs combined with a susceptibility for depression. I really loved him as a friend. In my life, and somewhere in my brain, I try to make up for his loss. At his burial, I got the urge to physically fight him. I still do. I still love him. He won't be gone till I'm gone. Maybe longer.
I am still grateful to Alfred who put me on this musical road. As different as Neil Young and YES are, they are both perfect matches for two parts of me. There's no ignoring it. I've played their music to death, and went to their concerts, and been a mostly loyal fan ever since (YES until Anderson was left behind). I can't stop listening to YES music for more than a few months, then I get back to it.
41 years of being a fan is a long time. This fanmanship has seen some ups and downs (Anderson & Wakeman was a downer, I hated to like 'Drama', but to some extent I liked it more than i cared to admit) (there was some musical hiatus from 1985 to 1997, which was bridged by AWBH in some way, and by the 'Keys' releases).
I loved Jon's early solo releases, 'Olias', 'Song of Seven' (which I gave as presents to my dear friends), 'Animation' or his work with Vangelis, particularly 'Short Stories'. I remember singing the entry line at the start of a class (a religion class, of all classes): 'After the first embrace from you, my senses knew the look of love was in your eyes'. And my classmate went: "Wow, I didn't know you had such a singing voice". It was flattering, and a sure incentive to go on singing (I've been singing in a chamber choir for 35 years now).
Two years ago I went to see Jon live in concert with Rick Wakeman and Trevor Rabin, along with a VERY good bass & drums player. It was magnificent. It was bliss. I was standing five foot away from Jon, a guy who had influenced the musical part of my life so much, amidst a crowd who must have had similar experiences and went wild (for their age). It was A. Very. Happy. Moment.
So thank you Jon! You and Chris were the Heart & Soul, and the McCartney & Lennon of YES. You gave the world a LOT of your love, and a LOT of your musicality. Many happy returns! for as long as you want to.
(Isn't it great that during our lifetime, pop and rock have turned into legitimate musical styles for both the young AND the old? I guess it is.)

Been a fan of Yes music since 1969 - And for many years Jon was my Musical hero, sadly I feel whilst he is still striving to make new music much of is sounds 'too busy' I so wish he would allow his amazing voice to be heard in songs that are paired down so that we can hear its beauty instead of it being amongst a jumble of sounds. Less is more Jon. See you at Debbie's Birthday Party in London Jon. ;O)

You have one of the greatest songwriters/composers of classic progressive rock ‘n’ roll and you don’t know how to interview him to get him to talk about the wonderful experiences of the 70s and 80s and what inspired him to write these wonderful classics.

I thought the interview was very relaxed and very human. There's no need to pursue encyclopedic knowledge or subconscious musical motives in Every Interview. It would kill artists.

@@JOEB955 Artists of worldwide renown have easily given thousands of interviews throughout the years, on top of their exhausting musical job. I meant to say that you cannot expect them to go very deep into the past or into their psyche in every interview. I like the easy-going interviews, in which I get to see the relaxed person who is behind all that beautiful music.

The album is still “in the works” - with the possibility that tracks will be released ‘in three phases’ because of the amount of material (which includes a number of extended pieces). However, while compiling all the material is taking time, all 3 guys have been working on solo material which is one hell of a ‘work ethic’ for such veteran artists.

Indeed. Howe & Anderson are the key to classic Yes, always have been. A shame it is that they are poles apart now it seems. Anderson working with Howe, White, Sherwood & Downes would be very interesting indeed! No need for Wakeman to be involved these days, as wonderful as his past with Yes is. Anderson & Downes have never worked together, have they? It looks like Anderson will be going solo etc. Hopefully not forever.
