Many thanks to you, Mark! I have a 1994 VTX 600A. Your vdo helped me a lot. Not easy to work on this Shadow 600, everything is very compact and it takes a lot of patience... which I lack sometimes. I watched a few other vdo's about carb removal/cleaning/reassembly, which I needed because my Honda was not doing so well. For my part, by following step by step your maneuvers, I managed to remove, disassemble and reassemble my carburetors. I'm quite happy with the result. I'll have to start the engine. I hope, see the work...if it was well done. I will give you a follow-up in the next few weeks.
so glad someone made these videos. very helpful. project vt600 hasnt ran in 5 years. currently cleaning the carb ans gas tank before trying to start. she turned over and has power
Very helpful videos, remove and install. Gave me confidence to tackle the job myself on my 1994 model and a good idea of what hoses etc needed to be removed and what didn't. Thank you very much.
The 2 little hoses on top the ones you said your not sure what they are. Where does that hose connect to I see it running down under the seat. On my bike the hose was just laying off to the side I didn't see any indents on the end from a hose clamp... my bike runs better if I pinch it but I can not find where it belongs haynes has a manual i wasnt trying to spend 50 bucks on one but i might as well. The bike came with a parts bike of the same year im probably gonna get them bith running
Ya mine goes under the seat and just hangs down to the bottom of the bike. Not hooked up to anything. So I still don’t fully understand if this is right but after doing a quick search it says it’s for the air to escape so the bowl can fill up with gas. So maybe by pinching it, not as much gas is getting through the carb making it run lean. Which if it runs better, then maybe your carb is running too rich? This is all a guess though. I’ll do some more research!
Just wanted to add a little tip I discovered while installing my carb, get a small tube of brake rubber grease, a few dollars, used for brake piston rubber seals, just a light smear on the intake boots and also the intake hoses makes the job seriously easier.
Hello I have a question I just see your video you putting back your carbs back on your Honda shadow and I see you don’t connect all the hoes back on the carb you just plug the gasoline lines and another little ones en the middle of the carbs so If I do that to my Honda shadow 1988 I can drive with any problems or I need connect all the hora from the air box ?
So the guy that cleaned my carburetor put the two little connector fuel lines on for me. So all I had to do is connect the main fuel line. Other than that just make sure the boots are tight to the cylinder heads and all the other intake and breather hoses are back where they belong. It took a minute for mine to start back up for the first time too. Good luck
Interesting video, and cool to see how an average backyard mechanic tackles this job. Try searching TJ Brutal Custom's video series on the shadow 600/750 to see how a pro does this stuff.
Haha yup, definitely my first time doing this. Ya know I watched his video about cleaning the carbs just long enough to realize that was over my head but that’s the only one I watched
Thank you , I find your video after I did the mess” , the nail of the rubber membrane is different ... but I change I ve the screws inside of floating and are different too I must find the old once’s too ... Do not throw the old stuff from your motorcycle like I did ...I feel so stupid 😅. I still have problems with , tomorrow I start again

Good question. I did a brief search when I was first getting them cleaned for a bunch of money. I only found them used on eBay for more money than getting them cleaned. Good luck!
Yaaa, I didn’t have the time or the means to do it correctly. That’s one of those jobs that’s better left for the professionals. It’s more than just cleaning them too. Since they’re dual carbs, my mechanic was careful at putting them back exactly the way they were.
Many thanks to you, Mark!

Nice video, looks and sound good
Thanks! Ya it was nice seeing a difference in performance.
Just noticed after removing both boots one boot is slightly longer than the other. How can u tell which one goes where ?
So mine are exactly the same size and shape. Do you have the same year bike as mine?

Did your mechanic use the gaskets from that kit? Is there anything your mechanic used from that cheap kit you bought?
Ya he used the gaskets and the screws. He kept the original jets in.
Where can I find a carburetor for my bike I hav the same one as you

How much cost the carburetor rebuild???
It was cheap, like $20. BUT! Not everything fit correctly so thankfully some stuff could be reused. So maybe not buy the cheapest. Good luck

you did not make a video to clean the carb! T_T
