Thanks for helping me to get started. Cleaning the dirt out from around the white clip helps. Sprayed some WD 40. On the back side of the white clip you have to squeeze in a couple tabs to get it moving. Also remove the metal shield so cable can be pulled back. Half hour researching, half hour looking it over and cleaning up and then another half hour doing it. Done, Feels good man. Thx again
This is just what i needed. My S10 stopped one day ideling. and i could not get it to start. The only thing i would hear was a clicking sound when turnng the key to on. I had the issue with not being able to go into P. So following your video and got it adjusted and now the car will turn over, just need a battery. This could had saved me from, replacing the Fuel pump, distibutor cap, and many other parts!!! .Thank you very much.
Thank you so much Matt Plan for this upload. Had I not found it, I'd've bought a new cable, discovered the adjustment locking wedge, then return the new cable (if I didn't destroy the old one in removal that is). Sidenote, I had/have no horseshoe, so I just tried the white adjustment locking wedge, & it worked. Again, thanks.
Been so frustrated ebt man ur close up view of where to put what on which side of the U shoukd be the game changer that ends this friggin nightmare. Can’t wait to get started on morning . Thank you Matt!
just wanted to say that this video was awesome. I couldn't find how to adjust my shift cable for my blazer anywhere and the s10 and older blazers have the same trans therefore they have the same shifter cable mech. I couldn't get it into park and couldn't find ANYTHING showing me how to adjust it. after watching this video It took me 5 minutes and it is now working properly. kudos to you!
@@anthonymaniz1933 yes and no .Off oxygen but on the cusp of going back on. Plus I'm homeless so that really complicates things. But thank you for asking.
Thanks , this was helpful. Most of the ls swap stuff is using aftermarket shifters and cables. I opted for 2nd gen blazer in a 1st gen sonoma. Trying to stay away from the racecar look
Had the exact same problem happen to me just a couple days ago it took me damn near 20 minutes of scrolling to find this video but I did what you said and I'll be damned but it fixed it🤣
This worked for me after I figured it out a bit. Now it's real quick. One thing to note is you actually don't have to do most of the steps in this video. Just pry out the white clip he says only comes half way out. Then slide in or out the black shaft with a spring around it that goes through this clip. Then push the clip back in. The horseshoe clip is only if you're replacing the cable. Also, if the other clip does come all the way out it's fine. It only fits one way though, just look to see.
On mine the white horseshoe clip had tabs holding it in the back so it wasn't going to be pryed out until those were squeezed in and pushed down a little. It is a 2003.
Thanks for posting. Just wished I would have seen it before I ran a new cable and found out it doesnt fit. By the way 2003 sonoma part number 15189200 unavailable anywhere ibcluding bone yards. But the replacement they will tell you fits on autozone and others. CA-1194 Does not fit at all at the top. Lesson learned.
Seriously, as needed as this is, it would be much better if you showed us how to do it. I watched it twice and have no idea what two tabs you are talking about.
great video was mine also adjusted 3ur4 times still no luck so replaced cable now all works perfect ,also for others there was no sign it was bad even when taken out just would not go out far enough to go into park ,also the old one works well just messed up inside the casing somewhere??? but as said new one is perfect ps.that clip can be a bear to get loose or pull out and adjust advise to clean it good w/wd40 or equal to slide easy
So I did this adjustment then, pulled the cable and went to shift gears and trans got stuck in Drive, the cable disintegrated and broke apart. Any of you having to adjust the cable on a 20 year old Blazer/Jimmy, best to just get a new one. Mine is on order. The cable takes alot of abuse being pushed into Park.
my buddy has a 2000 Blazer and he said he needs a clip that locks the cable end onto the trans linkage, but I can't find a clip online anywhere. Is there a clip, or is it just a bushing in the end of the cable that the linkage snaps into?
Sara Richter what gear did you leave your shifter inside the truck while doing this? I seem to get drive and Nuturel if I it in park. ..but only reverse and Nuturel if I leave it in Nuturel
Remove the metal tab I mean plastic tab it only comes halfway out ohh remove the metal tab I mean plastic tab you don't have to take it all the way out only halfway it's not metal it's plastic sorry. Jesus just do it bc youre not describing it very well sorry to say. Oh it's a plastic tab

My sentiments exactly as the person before me. I'm disabled on oxygen and heavy pain medicine. Thank you so much for this video. God bless you.

I'm forever grateful, it did help. luckily my truck has a very similar cable adjustment. Thanks!!!

how abouts did you guys pry the clip out? pliers?

How did you get that white clip to release ? Did you do in while the cable was in the bracket?
The cable im dealing with wont budge at all! I took the horseshoe clip off and pulled the plastic tab but the thing will NOT move either direction.
Thanks for this video man..gonna try first thing tomorrow

So you just screwed your friend out of 60 bucks? Thats low

Where can I buy it
LoL....I can't even get the white clip out...its like it is welded in there...any Tips?
Can you tell me how to remove the shifter ?
Thanks you it will help me a lot will do that thanks again

bushing
Will this work if I can't get any gear but reverse nuetral and drive
did it work? i cant get mine into reverse or 5th
Where can i buy the horse-shoe clamp thing ?
What gear do you need to do this in? As mine won't go into park.
Worked perfect 1st time
It worked! But you were wrong about adjustment.
When you push it forward it makes it throw more forward not back like you said. But helpful thanks.
Thanks for the Video helped a lot
Well for one thing the shift arm on the transmission is on backwards flip it around so the cable is on the outside of the transmission
Nice video as you mention there is nothing on how to adjust this piece,
i will try for my gmc jimmy
I have a 2002 Isuzu Rodeo won't go on Park and transmission unless I get up put it up and put it in by hand
These usually get bent during a filter change. Lazy techs would rather bend the tab so the pan clears than remove the nut and tab.
Mine keeps popping off
all fixed this worked for me
Sara Richter what gear did you leave your shifter inside the truck while doing this? I seem to get drive and Nuturel if I it in park. ..but only reverse and Nuturel if I leave it in Nuturel
maybe me but that was clear as mud.
God damn zr2s
Thanks
me too, thanks

What was the point of making a video if you were not going to demonstrate the removal of the parts in question?
You literally don't show how to remove the white clip to adjust the shift cable🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Did you figure it out
Can't hear
