I was only going to get one, but I found out they were best friends. I couldn't separate two best friends from each other, after all. Right? 🤠

I have a soft spot for two specific horses in the game:
-The Amber Champaign Missouri Fox Trotter. I often get a female one in the late game and name her Bunbun.
-Also the Chocolate Rohan Dutch Warm Blood. Usually end up with a boy named Klaus. He's often my go to in chapters 2 and 3.
Though that's not to say there aren't other horses I'm curious about. Such as:
    - Arthur's first Tennessee walker in Chapter 1
    - Micah's Missouri Fox Trotter Baylock. Micah may be a rat, but his horse is rad.
    - Kieran's unique Tennessee walker Branwen because Kieran is best horse lovin' guy.
    - Bill's Ardennes Brown Jack, because quote: "He's a drunk, miserable bastard - but he loves that horse"
    - The Palomino American Standard Bred that I see so often from the guys trying to fix their horses shoes saying "Oh... you poor thing"
    - The Buckskin American Standardbred you can "borrow" in chapter 2 to chase down Jimmy Brookes, or find at Chez Porter (The optional robbery with Javier involving the family that speaks in a different dialect. This is the best horse at that location.)
Hope this generates enough ideas that some of them actually pull results! Seriously this is a lovely video to witness. And I really just love seeing these different breeds in person, even with the caviots. Sometimes it would be cool just to find the same breed, even if the appearances don't match. I'd love to just learn about the real breed

Fun Fact, Micah's horse Baylock is the low-honour horse from the first game, which seems like yet another red flag in hindsight. Also it brings a whole new meaning to playing as a low-honour John in RDR1 since he'd be pretty much haunted by that horse to really show him he's going down the wrong path.

Hungarian halfbreds or halfbloods are actually a different breed than the nonius. They originate from the same place though as far as I know. The noniuses are almost always black and have a heavier built, while halfbreds come in a lot of colours, and look like a modern sporthorse. It is a quite young breed, with holsteiner, hanover and thoroughbred ancestors. :)

    • @elisabethandersen1102
      @elisabethandersen1102 2 года назад

Thats par for the course in gaited breeds. They like to use a long shank to keep the horse inverted so they gait better, and on a hard surface to hear the beat.
Not saying its my cup of tea, just saying thats how 99% of gaited riding is shown off.

  • @kenpowolf1987

The Hungarian halfbred is a tricky one. In the late 1800s several eastern European breeds were called "halfbreds". The real life Nonius is an inspiration obviously but I am convinced that aesthetically the Irish Draft Horse was an inspiration as well. They're very close in looks and the Irish Draft is used by Ireland's mounted police.

7:50 acctually! the black spots on the stallion are not reverse dapples. when (for example) a horse bites him, the hair there regrows in a regular black color. that is why most blue roan horses have those black spots on them, fun fact

My favorite is the gorgeous Missouri Fox Trotter that appears during a mission where the wildlife photographer tries to get you to get the horses to run through the water and grass so he can get a photo. If you track the correct horse and skip through the monologue scene you can track her and find her and tame her. It's incredibly difficult and takes time, but is worth it. Mine turned out to be a Mare who I named Estelle, which means "Star" because I'm a huge NASA nerd and she is bright and lovely, like a star. I always have her with me.

I've owned horses IRL for nearly 25 years. I've helped rehome abused horses of all ages, and multiple breeds.
It was so nice to see that sweet, loving Nakota footage. I love them in RDR2, as every one I've ever owned is an "In Your Pocket" kind of horse. Male or Female. I whistle for them and they come RIGHT. HERE.
All the other breeds I've owned are "lazy" and stop anywhere from 6feet (2 meters) to 20feet (6 meters) away from me and don't budge 🤣

I would love to see if they can bring back the extinct breeds and make them pure breed. If the genes are in other horses can't they try and work out getting a turkoman back. The gypsy cob is far more versatile than people would think.
I used to ride one that stood around 15hh with a good 3 foot of mane. Absolute saint and plod.... most of the time. Until someone experienced... or me, got on him.
All bets were off since he had a ton of stamina from hunting in his early years. He also loved jumping, but he wouldn't try if it were people starting out. He had very littler interest in jumping crosspoles. They stuck me on him in a lesson where everyone else was on these big warmbloods and he was literally out-jumping them with enthusiasm.

I finished the game with the first 15 Dollar Morgan from the stable. Outran everything in the game, and never failed me once. ^//^
Having to say thank you to them at the end of game broke my heart.

One horse breed that I thought was conspicuously missing from the game was a common one for Cowboys of that era: The Quarter Horse.
One horse that was anachronistic was the Andalusian horse. However, Andalusian horses are by far my most favorite breed. As well as the Arabian for endurance.

My favorite is probably the tiger stripe mustang. When the game first released there was a way to get it for Arthur, now you have to wait until you access the southern half of the map.

I'm sticking with my first horse, a black chesnut throughbred. It shines an almost purple color on the sun, and it looks so cool. Plus it has got me out of sticky situations more than any other horse...

The Blood Bay thoroughbred is my favorite horse. Maybe it's the same as the Black Chestnut. The Blood Bay in chapter 2 does not have the white spot but in chapter 5 it does. Yes, that deep red color is beautiful.

Once I found a white Arabian in rdr2 (can be found near lake Isabella) which is the rarest and most expensive horses in the game but. Unfortunately Me and my rare horse fell off a cliff and the horse died, I was in rage

In game I'm always riding in first person view, enjoying the free view you have around you while riding, compared to not having to correct your direction you're going while looking to the sides or behind you. Somehow I've gotten used to paying attention to my horses ears, sometimes it reacts to something I haven't spotted yet! And the little sounds it makes, - I'm hungry, - groom me, - too fast, trees ahead, - look out, rattlesnake, bear, cougar or wolves! Having escaped say - a pack of wolves, I even find myself patting and grooming my horse, until it's ears are up and relaxed, happily riding on again...

I went to my friends house and her mum has a horse called pige which is short for pigeon. She usually has her blanket on because she is mostly white and can get sun Burnt easily. But when I saw her without her blanket on I straight away though of the criollo sorrel overo. The horse has the same markings as her accept some splashes on the Wither and neck. Pigeon even has the same markings on the front and head of her. I sadly don't have any photos or videos of her but she is such a nice horse.

That real life Nokota doesn't have dapples I'm afraid. Those darker spots are from scarring. Either from scratching, playing or maybe from those harsh training methods. When a blue/brown/red roan grow out their hair again from a scar, it only grow a solig color and always the base color like the black or brown etc.

Hey, Im from Hungary and yes, Nonius isnt Hungarian Halfbred. Hungarian Halfbred is not really independent bred. We have many traditional horsebreds AND THEY USUALLY GOT HUNGARIAN HALFBRED NAMES:
    -Hungarian sporthorse
    -Kisbéri Félvér (Kisberi Halfblood)
    -Mezőhegyesi Félvér (Furioso-North Star halfblood)
    -Gidrán (Gidran)
    -Shagya Arab (Shagya Arabian)
    -Nóniusz (Nonius)
    -Hucul
We usually use Hungarian Halfbred on Hungarian Sporthorse and sometimes on Kisberi and Furioso Northstar Halfblood's.
I hope I can help someones who wanted to check a real Hungarian breds and alsó sorry for my english, not perfect xD
