That’s bc these guys with the buckets are stealing $ if you really think about it. Plus, they be taking their sweet a** time like there isn’t 5 other cars waiting to get in the bay.
Why use a bucket for the soap in the first place just let it droop from the brush right on top of your car and wash it from there, then use one water bucket to rinse the mit
It's because bucket washing can take longer and if ppl want to wash there cars a car wash works time eqauls money a 20 or 30 min bucket wash can cost them cash flow if traffic flow is coming in
I wouldn't wash a car with a mitt unless necessary to scrub off spots. I prefer contactless wash from top to bottom spares gloss black paint and clear coat by preventing scratches. I only scrub if I'm doing a decon/clay bar/compound/polish/wax--a real thorough detailing/paint correction I might do only every 5 years to spare clear coat. Getting off a light layer of biweekly road dust usually doesn't need scrubbing. If the car wash has wheel cleaner, I prefer to use it over the expensive spray bottle stuff. That said, a lot of wheel cleaners can damage wheel and rim finishes and my wheel brush often can't fit between the rim spokes to get at brake dust. The wheels really have to be removed completely to get in there. So I just wash the wheels under high pressure. Instead of expensive per ounce spray waxes and cleaners, I save my money for a proper paste/liquid carnauba wax, which I sometimes do in the bay. Paste is better for large areas and I like liquid for smaller areas like grilles, bumpers, and ABC pillars where you don't want paste wax flung on the glass and plastics when using a DA polisher. Glass cleaners can be replaced by 70/30 IPA on glass. IPA can be diluted for a paint cleanser, but I'm not sure if this is necessary if one uses a cleaner wax and the wax has naturally decayed with time. Cleaner waxes require less prep time but contain harsh chemicals and often don't last as long as a pure carnauba paste wax. In short=more time, more steps is better, usually, but I like cleaner waxes and one step products for winter when it isn't comfortable being outside for a long time. I can also say a lot car of washes have hard water despite its supposedly being distilled. Some of it left a mineralized water mark on my hood when it dried but I thankfully got it off quickly enough that it didn't etch in. I don't like leaf blowers and air for drying because it leaves residue and takes too long. I dry the car by using a Swiffer mop with attached microfiber cloths or with the mop head inserted vertically like a hand into microfiber wash mitts. The microfiber fits into the Swiffer corner slots and the wash mitt's wrist elastic will hold the Swiffer mop head in so you can use it like a soft wooly brush or drying towel. I find drying towels and wash mitts, even those by The Rag Company, tend to leave lint when they are dragged across black cars. I'd rather use a lot of small, high thread count, tight weave microfiber cloths, frilly wash mitts, or even glass finishing cloths to get up water, smudges, and lint than dry with a big towel that leaves a fuzzy, streaky mess. Microfibers meant for eyeglasses and PC monitors usually do a great job for cleaning, drying, and most importantly, lint and smudge removal. The "Swiffer mitt" works for the car roof (I'm short) and low on the doors as well as hard to reach places like the interior back glass where it meets the body and where the front glass meets the dash. Reaching all parts of the car with the Swiffer mitt while standing really spares the knees, ankles, and back. Edit: if a car wash has good distilled water, I bring my own containers to fill so I can wash at home with pump sprayers. I don't see it as bad. I paid for the water.
Thanks man, barely got a car and went to the self wash for the first time just using the brush and high pressure wash. Noticed the dirt marks after the wash. Did this method and my car looks clean and no more dirt spots

This is what I do as well, and I still laugh at the idiots in the same car wash spending legit $16 to go through the automatic one that doesn't guarantee it's as clean as I get it. And i take as much time as i want because there usually isn't a line for the self service, only the automatic. I'll enjoy the savings and that satisfaction of a job well done 👍
Dont say “the right way” u mad a lot of scratches
No he didnt
@@cosmin6902 he did
@@cosmin6902 even pros making scratchings dont be fucking stupid lol
@@cosmin6902 he uses 1 bucket kid
@@mofromupside2573 what does that have to do with anything. Just because he used one bucket doesn't mean he scratched the car
@ smpl builds I need your help right away were I get side flares to buy like on the car in video being wash
Can’t do this in London
There’s always people waiting to wash their cars
F them bro
@@tizochernandez1943 haha…
We should do a car meet! Got a Wrx Sti 👌
Genius
You think using the car soap there is okay for your car bc I feel like they are using cheap soap
Heaps of them don’t allow you to bring stucf
Getting banned from a car Wash for flaunting their rules is certainly on my bucket list… 😆😂🤣
Ion know how to use My self serve dry thing
All the car washes around me have a no bucket rule
I attempted this once many years ago and they shut the water off right before I went to rinse.
Wish my local car wash didn’t get mad when I do this lol
Go at night
Presoak first. Never rinse first.
Please, don't ever throw your wheel sponge/brush into the same bucket as the mitt for your paint or your microfiber drying towels. That's a micro scratch disaster waiting to happen. The rest of the video tips however, I agree 👍
does it even matter? He didnt touch the wheels with the wheel sponge until he finished washing the car
@@michaelthompson2970 Sure it matters. You're not likely to get all the road grime and brake dust off the wheels with a basic wash like that. The point is, you don't want to potentially cross contaminate your sponges. If you can keep them separate by being a little mindful, why not? It'll make your seasonal detail and paint correction that much easier down the road. 👍
@@AskChristianYT He didn’t wash the wheels first, he washed the wheels last. The wheel sponge wasn’t contaminated until after he was done with the body. Right or wrong? That’s what’s confusing about about what you’re saying. What you’re saying makes sense of the dude washed his wheels before the car
@@michaelthompson2970 So you're saying he's never going to use those sponges again? What about the next time?
@@AskChristianYT I would assume they would get washed. If youre saying thats not good enough then okay. Two different buckets is cool too. I cant agree or disagree because I dont have experience
I got escorted out when I did this.
What’s your wheel specs?
Idk if you sold it but this car was parked up with me at motorama last week
Sold it a few weeks ago 😭
All facts
Need 5 buckets. Soap and one for each side of vehicle
When it comes to the automatic car washers with the big rolling brush, I learned from my old car, and now all the wax coat is gone. With the new car, it’s either take it to a hand wash or do it yourself😂
Just add a new wax coat
Right. I do the same. I just got my new SUV and definitely no shortcuts this time. I detail my own, even when I don’t feel like it. Paying someone over $100 when I can spend $ $3 to $5
All the places by me have signs that say no bucket washing 😂
They usually don't mind if it's not busy. You can always ask.
Wrong the first biggest sign on the car wash is no bucket washing.
Bucket washing in car wash bays is not allowed.
Idk about that towel choice. But then again I drive a black Lexus
Honestly it’s better to just hit up a friend w a driveway and hose and buy him lunch/hangout
MF DOOM
I never wash my car. It has no scratches so far.
$19.95 a month & I use the drive thru sparkle with free vacuum and trash disposal. 🗑. 👏
rip your paint
@@ultraseb7839 - Not proper pre-rinsing kills paint. Also using the wrong shampoo and wrong techniques.
The Ford is a proper demo object.
You are not allowed to use bucket in the car wash
well that is in your country
in France you can't do that...
Sure if the carwash is empty, but I wouldn't take all that time if people were waiting
pro tip bring a battery powered leaf blower
Lol imagine how people would look at you and won’t understand what u are doing lol
