Congratulations on your transformation from a beach expert to a desert expert. Recently, you have really shot the desert so beautifully that it makes me want to travel there! I thought salt appeared at the seaside, but I was surprised when it appeared in the desert. Nature is really amazing! That natural swimming pool is so beautiful. It’s great to swim in it. It must be fun to float! If you bring an air pillow, you might be able to sleep. You can try it next time! I really enjoyed this episode, thank you very much for sharing! 👍🥰🙌
Floating in those pools is the coolest moment in a desert I have ever seen. You know your channel is really amazing and Carolina is so beautiful...lucky guy.
What a Bizarre landscape! I had no idea so much of South America looked like that. Thank you so much for your videos and taking us to this part of the world.
The north and center of Chile are beautiful, but you should visit and get to know the Chilean south; Chiloé Island and the entire Austral Route. It will be an unforgettable trip. Greetings
Amazing how that area looks more like it's on Mars or another planet than in this world- and it's SO dry that there are areas of it that have received NO recorded rainfall whatsoever since the earliest records began being kept for that region over 400 years ago! And yet, people have been living there for thousands of years before this. San Pedro de Atacama was already a thriving town when the Spanish first arrived! Oh, and despite the harsh aridity, there are a surprising number of plants and animals native to the area. What a place you've found for us! Did you ever imagine it could exist (much less that people could have lived there) before you ventured there? Thanks for sharing your time there with us!
We didn't realize how big this unusual area is, you can drive for days and you are still surrounded by the bizarre landscapes. Definitely was surprised when i read that indigenous groups lived around the area. I think there are many natural springs from the ground which allowed them to live there, in san pedro de atacama there are many streams flowing through the town so i imagine it is all coming from under the ground
This was so cool to see the desert. I didn't know deserts existed there at all. This was a nice video. Chris you did a wonderful job on your hair, still handsome. You are such a gentleman and you both are such wonderful people and it shows in your videos. You and Carol are such a nice couple and your filming is breathtaking. Stay well and safe!
Another Awesome Adventure Chris & Carol🙂Your Adventures just keep getting Better and Better it is a shame that you can't fly a Drone there Everything looks so much more Beautiful and Amazing from the Air🙂Watching from NB Canada🙂
The variety of colors continues even in the desert. Those salty edges really look like snow. The atmosphere of the desert village thrilled me,the food looked very tempting,an oasis of calm near the church, fantastic shots of the sunset. The magic of the moment!👍
I just love your videos! Living vicariously through you guys…. Especially if you know where I live lol…Hello from west Texas. Thanks for sharing! God bless.
When i hiked the Valley of tge Moon last year, our tour guide said we could lick the salt crystals in the rock columns, so i did. We also got to see the sunset at the same vista point Carol and you went to. It reminded me of Dante's Peak in the Anza Borrego dessert of California. I do agree with you that Atacama has some similarities to Death Valley which I've visited several times but Atacama is even larger with flamingos and guanacos, villages and geysers. I did not know about the crystal blue salt lakes you visited though. If i visot Atacama agsin, for sure id like to visit those blue salt pools. I've been yo the Dead Sea, and it's not crystal blue - its muddy brown but you do float in the water. Since you and Carol enjoyed the Southwestern region of the USA, i recommend you try and get permits to visit Havasupai in Arizona. The lotto for permits is offered every February 1st if i recall correctly. I was lucky enough to visit twice in my lifetime and its still remains one of the most beautiful places i have visited.
Great content Carol and Chris, I loved the desert lanscapes which I would imagine resemble the moon, just an amazing place. The salt pools looked great too, just a pity there is no showers. Thanks for sharing, really enjoyed it. 👍👍🙏❤
Good video, I hope you liked Atacama (you can visit Puritama Thermal before you leave if you want to relax). I also suggest visiting the Chilean side of Patagonia if you have another time, it is something totally different from the north: Pucón, Termas Geometricas (the best hot springs in Chile), Lake Llanquihue and Frutillar, Río Blanco Waterfall Hornopirén, Marble Caves and General Carrera Lake, Cochamo Valley, Churches of Chiloe, Pumalín National Park, Queulat National Park and Hanging Glacier Falls, Conguillío National Park and Rainbow Lagoon, Carretera Austral, The Baker River and Patagonia Fjords (The only ones that exist in South America like Quintupeu and Comau) and obviously the iconic Torres del Paine.
My wife and I live in Kernville CA right off the KernRiver. We are not far from Death Valley which does look like the places you are at... we've also been to Israel's Dead Sea, same floatation, and it is just as clear as those large pools you and Carol are floating in with the same "healing" powers. And a big dumbs up to all of your choices for the background music. Our toes move to the beat as we lie in bed watching your video... another great job.
Another excellent and informative video. You did well to rent a car and make hikes! The rocky ground is probably the result of the massive saltpeter or sodium nitrate mining effort during the 1800s. This was a thriving industry and even a war, the War of the Pacific, was fought over it between Chile and Bolivia and Peru. The mining effort came to a fairly abrupt end when a couple of German chemists invented manufactured saltpeter in the early 1900. I hope you will have a chance to see the mining ghost town of Humberton, near Iquique, which was abandoned in 1960. You will be able to see the British Cemetery, which is quite well preserved because in the desert nothing deteriorates.
I've followed you two for years now... once offered you a free stay at our off-the-grid home on the green coast (Baia do Mar Virado) near Ubatuba, BR... keep up the great videos and work!
Very cool. Atacama lives up to its reputation as the driest spot on Earth. Like you were saying, it reminded me of images of the landscape sent back from Mars. I knew a guy who made annual trips to Israel to float in the Dead Sea for his Eczema. Said it really helped him as well. I know travel can be a beating at times, but what a life you guys are living!
One of the most awesome tings I've seen was when I pulled off the side of the road one night in west Texas and just looked up at the stars. I think the Atacama Desert may be the best place anywhere for that; I'd love to experience that some day.
I had no idea that a place like the Colorado Plateau existed in Argentina. I've traveled all over and suggest people visit the four corners area of the United States whenever it comes up. As always, I love the videos.
Wow Chris & Carol! You really got me on this one! You get me on every Vlogs. In reading other peoples comments I don’t want to be redundant, but the music is always great. Love the chill vibe. Have no idea how you managed to cut your own hair! Good job by the way! When you guys were floating in the water it look like 50% of your body was above the waterline. I don’t think you floated that high out of the water in the dead sea. Chile does look a lot like death Valley. One of my favorite places. Infrastructure there looks good. Wind, solar road conditions and electrical lines. Maybe not so much on the water. 🤷♂️ Carol, love that you’re such a good driver! Chris, how are you making out with your drivers license? Rich Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃
Love your videos. It is hard to find video content that focuses on the places vs having a face in the screen. We are going to be in Santiago in February and I am interested in the places you went. Could you share the places you bought tours and tickets from? Also did you rent the car online or just go to the airport? We tried to search for multi day tours but what we were finding was very expensive and not really what we want to do.
Licancabur is the name of that near perfect conic shaped volcano towering over SPDA, which can been seen from anywhere around the Salar de Atacama and SPDA. The best view point is from Laguna Verde at the Chile-Bolivia border
@@JumpingPlaces By the way I really enjoy watching your vlog, which I started following with your epic adventure in Baja California few years ago. Since then I have just returned from the most amazing holiday in La Ventana, just south of La Paz BCS. Thanks for the inspiration!
And I have done the same tour as you just did, but did it ex SPDA to Uyuni with a private driver, which was just amazing. He took us to his house in Colchani at the end of the tour and we met his family. He only spoke Aymara! That was more than 10 years ago, and the Altiplano was not as busy then! Is there a particular reason why drones are not permitted in certain national parks? I imagine there is some concern for birds but beyond that, I can't think of other reasons.
Hello, regarding the non-use of Drones in general in the Desert, it involves 2 issues that are very important... The first is that in the desert there are military bases that are strategic for national security... And the second is because of the scientific facilities that are located throughout the Atacama Desert... We must keep in mind that 80% of the world's observatories are found in the Atacama Desert... And their levels of security are very high, and the State of Chile has committed to guaranteeing the protection of the airspace in those areas.... It should be noted, as information, that the largest and most modern Astronomical observatory in the world is being built in the Atacama Desert, and the security levels are very high...
Pls, If you can, I would love to see some nighttime sky videos or pix. Clear vision of the full soutthern hemispshere. You both are in an area of the world where it's one of the darkest nighttime skies in the world. I don't know if either one of you have any interest in the telescopes but it would be cool.
