Back when my father was young he lived 10 miles from the Reidsville NC main tobacco plant of The American Tobacco Company . That was considered a good high paying job in those days of tobacco dominance
Indeed. Lucky Strikes and Pall Malls were leading sellers. Think of everything they sponsored: Jack Benny, Danny Thomas, The Hit Parade, Brooklyn Dodger baseball.
You obviously don't know much about the 1950's, and do you really need to post your same comment every 6 months on here? Please stop, and then we'll have a "happy Christmas" indeed ..Thank you!!
I wonder why these early seasons of the show are never shown in syndication? Probably due to Jean Hagan and the fact that she was dismissed from the show.
@Muzikgirl67 she wasn't. Sherry was still on the show when Angela started as Linda, Kathy's daughter from her first marriage. Terry got married and Danny adopted Linda.
Hey! Lucky Strike tobacco company commercials in general aren't good! I'm LDS Mormon and I don't believe in smoking 🚬🚭 anything at all under any circumstances either!❤😂🎉😅😊!👍🏿! 10:51
Unfortunately many of the old radio shows and especially TV shows were sponsored by cigarettes this is one positive change in television today no cigarette commercials
Get it right pal.... 2 minutes of research will tell ya: Dorothy Collins lived to almost 70 (67), and died of asthma and heart failure. Yes, smoking is bad for your health. But so is misinformation. And this type of smoke-blowing is similar to the Covid situation. One person puts out misinformation, many take it as gospel and spreads that bull shite.
You sir, say nothing but lies...Her name was Dorothy Collins, and she died at the age of 67 due to asthma and heart disease. Why must so many people do nothing better than spread rumors and lies? Do your homework first please, before you end up looking like a fool...thank you.
As granny Clampett used to say, "Winston tastes good, like a cigarette oughta". Back in those days, 80% of the adult population smoked, with age 16 the legal age. Now, less than 20% smokes. The federal government was very successful driving down the rate of smoking. Smoking is a rolling average of 11 years off the lifespan.
@ harris nina: What would you do if you had farm on which your family's livelihood had depended for at least 2 generations? You had never grown anything but tobacco all your life, it made good money for you, you had no idea how to switch crops and not lose your a$$. Unfortunately, many people over the centuries have worked at jobs that killed them (coal mining?) but it was their only way to make a living.
The commercial is false. It is cancer causing and I lost my father, brother, and who knows how many others, all for the sake of a company that was only interested in making money. How sad!!
Wow. Rusty was such a little guy here & yet such a great actor.
Absolutely love show from that era
How fondly do I remember "Make Room For Daddy" and this particular show when we 3 little girls, my 2 sisters and I, watched it! What great memories!
I have and always will love Danny Thomas
This is one episode that I missed somehow as a kid. I 've never heard the Christmas song either. Very enjoyable to watch.
Holiday time is nostalgia time this is one of the greats from the past comedy and song ❤️💚🌲❄️⛄❤️💚🌲❄️⛄
Love these old black and white 🎥 !!
The songs at the end, from the heart!
After watching this, I'm not only feeling festive; I'm switching to Lucky Strike...

I went to Duke, 1970s and remember the sweet smell of tobacco over the East Campus tennis court. Wonderful.
Dad was in WW2. They put cigaretts in the K rations.
Ol' Tom Tully, as a variation of the Scrooge character. I just love a happy ending! Very touching.
Merry Christmas 2020!🎅🎄🎁⛄🎇
Herbert Tarrington and Spiedel watch bands...Wow I haven't heard those brand names in 40+ years.....
And the kids - so adorable!

Merry Christmas to you also.

Love this
Rusty had a cold in this episode . but delivered his lines .
The bandstands at 3:22 looks like the ones used by the Desi Arnaz Orchestra.
I want that watch!
Good show
My late mom preferred Jean Hagen as the mom. I think she died of cancer. Sherry starred in Our Lady of Fatima. The show was way before my time.
As his dog... As his Cat....
Loved Jean Hagen - a great actress in her own right - and never accepted next actress in the part.
Marjorie Lord was lovely.
Loved her in Singing in the Rain.
Rusty was such a cute little guy 🌲❤️💚🌲❤️💚😅😅
Not sure why they didn’t sing Christmas songs throughout ...would have added a lot
Because Danny Thomas was Jewish.
@@kathyflorcruz552 Danny Thomas was not Jewish, he was Catholic

My husband told me that the LS/MFT on the Lucky Strike cartons and cigarette packages meant: Loose Sweaters Mean Floppy T[+$. I don't know about that.
Speidel picture watch - lol!
I wonder why these early seasons of the show are never shown in syndication? Probably due to Jean Hagan and the fact that she was dismissed from the show.
Why !?
The wife Jean Hagen hated Danny Thomas. Eventually she was killed off and replaced with Majorie Lord.
Well ..if that was the case, then why was Sherry Jackson replaced with Angela Cartwright??
@Muzikgirl67 she wasn't. Sherry was still on the show when Angela started as Linda, Kathy's daughter from her first marriage. Terry got married and Danny adopted Linda.
Jesus is the reason for the season!
Smoking=lung cancer, happy Christmas.

The girl singing the lucky strike song died of throat cancer at 54....no joke....Lucky's taste better indeed
That's the wonderful Dorothy Collins, who sang on 'Your Lucky Strike Hit Parade'.

And commercials!
Wrong screen ratio.
those tobacco leaf picker, how long did the know that they were selling CANCER by the bucketful?!! these cigarette commercials 'kill me!'

Thank you for your moral superiority.
Ironically I know no one who started smoking because of cigarette ads.
this is from 1953 and cigarette TV ads were not banned for another 18 years
