Great Video, I love the tip on slowing the machine down, that definitely makes sense and I will do that. Also I have just purchased some fast frames and looks like I am ready to try embroidering a dog collar. Thank you very much.
Wow, this had some GREAT tips! I especially appreciated the note about the font and the sticky stabilizer. I only have a one needle machine, but I can't wait to try some cotton webbing. Thanks!
I am just starting to learn how to do this for a customer wanting embroidery on a strap. Where do you get the sticky stabilizer and you said it is tear away correct?
very informative vid!!! thanks! I am trying to embroider on nylon webbing. speed down to 480, needle 11, so mess. some many jumps of top threads, then trying to lose the bobbin, tighten the top line, doesnt work well either. how frustrated.... however, on cotton webbing, works well. ....is there any other things I need to change?
Great video. Can you still do this on a computerized portable machine? I have a singer 9960 my mom gave me. I'm into the tactical stuff you were talking about and would like to try to make a few velcro name tags.
I would think it would be worth a try!! I have a single needle portable machine and I think it could probably handle it. Maybe depends on the thickness of the material?
@@1922project Thanks! I'd prob just go with the milspec 17337 webbing since it's thinner. It'll be backed by velcro too so it doesn't need to be real sturdy. I'd be cool to see a video on the tactical belts you mentioned. I'm interested in making one but not sure my home machines could handle it.
@@charlieghague I probably won't be doing any videos on the tactical stuff simply because it's not my business and I'm not exactly sure what all they would want shown. However, I'm totally willing to answer any questions you have! Your domestic machine should definitely be able to handle webbing+velcro. Just make sure to use a thicker needle (ones labeled Jeans work fine). If you increase the thickness at all- like adding two layers of webbing or adding in scuba webbing, you'll need an industrial machine. I currently have a Juki 1541 but have also had a Juki 1181...both work very well for webbing! Hope that helps!
@@1922project Thanks for another reply. I've come to realize my machines aren't going to work. My computerized machine only does line embroidery and doesn't create the thick lettering I want. You can get custom name tapes on Amazon or Etsy for cheap so I'm just gonna do that. And ya, unfortunately, I do want to use Scuba webbing. The webbing I usually use is the same stuff for MOLLE/PALS attachment. I can sew that stuff all day but something as thick as a dog leash or scuba webbing isn't going to work. I just need to save up for a machine that does what I want. They're just so pricey! Thanks again! Might have some questions in future. Also, out of curiosity, who do you make the belts for? I need another one and would like to check them out.
My machine has tension dials- no numbers or anything for tension. You will get some gaps though- it’s never going to be as pretty as it is on something not as thick.
I'd be hesitant to try any thicker than what I'm using currently but I'm not sure how thick it is which isn't at all helpful I know! Ha! Just go slow and see how your machine reacts!
Great question, Mary! After I posted the video I thought I should've covered that. I just use the regular 75/11 that's always in my machine. Just make sure that if you typically use ballpoint that you switch it out for a sharp one!
Really wanted to see the embroidery part. That was the important part of the video.

So glad you found it helpful!
Thank you! This is helpful…going to try right now. lol
Very helpful I'm just starting to work with webbing thank you so much!!😊😊
So glad you found it helpful! THanks for watching!
Thank you for teaching us. I love your channel.
Thank you, Irma! I appreciate the support!
I have been wanting try some of the dog collars and leashes ... maybe soon :)

Great Video!! Thanks for sharing 🤗
Thank you!
Where can I buy that hardware. Need to back collars for my escape artist dogs.
Love it! Thanks!
What is that sticky backing for? Where can I find it
To save on sticky tape, could you do multiple collars at once?
Thanks sooo much
If I do t have a 6 needle machine but just a single machine, and no pointer light can I still do the dog collars ? Thankyou I’m in the U.K.

Honestly it could just be the webbing. They definitely are all a little different and some embroider better than others!
@@1922project THanks!
Great video. what weight thread and bobbin thread?
Just regular 40wt embroidery thread! My bobbins are prewound so not sure on those but I assume 40wt as well!
What type of embroidery machine are you using for webbing? Can you suggest a machine to use for nylon webbing. Thanks!

Keep an eye out on FB marketplace! Sometimes you can find a really good deal on a used machine! Also- check out Klik Belts! Best there is ;)
Hi!! Love your video ❤️ just wanted to ask what machine and model are you using?
I have a brother PR655 and I love it!
Hi Kelly
What needle you use fir the dog collar ? I have two big dogs Sussie And Cookie
I just use my regular 75/11! The key is slowing down the speed!
Hi Kelly!
Thank you for this! What machine would you suggest that works in nylon?
I've only ever used the Brother PR655. It works great as long as I slow it down! THanks so much for watching!
What size needle do you use?
Thanks for the tips! It's probably not for a dog.. more like a size for a alpaca lol
That's hilarious!!! You are probably right. Ha!!!
What size of needle and tension
What tension did you use? I keep switching tension up and down but my letters keep coming out with spaces
My machine has tension dials- no numbers or anything for tension. You will get some gaps though- it’s never going to be as pretty as it is on something not as thick.
can i ask what needle you use i get little thread hoops on lettering when i try this thank you
sorry just read the comments below have you every tried embroidering on horse head collars???
@@penhenge I have not! Are they really dense? Webbing that doesn't have such a tight weave usually works best.
Hi, do you use embroidery thread with webbing? Or just general cotton thread.
Thanks
Just normal embroidery thread!
@@1922project 😊 thanks
What size needle do you use on the webbing?
I use a 75/11 needle on pretty much everything! Including webbing. It's the slowing down the machine that makes the difference!
What type of thread do you use?
Just regular 40wt embroidery thread! I typically use the MetroPro brand.
Is there a thickness that’s too thick to embroider on a dog collar?
I'd be hesitant to try any thicker than what I'm using currently but I'm not sure how thick it is which isn't at all helpful I know! Ha! Just go slow and see how your machine reacts!
