Hey Jeff. I use the identical product. I've used some UV protectant purchased from a pool, spa supply shop and its crap compared to 303. Before I apply, I use my car wash mitt with some car washing soap and hose it down. I had my tub serviced last year and the tech was impressed with the condition of the cover after 7 years. He asked me what I was using. A small investment in keeping your cover properly conditioned and protected from fallout and UV from the sun.

How do you clean the mold off the inside of your cover? What products do you use for that?

Getting ready to have a new hot tub delivered... Really appreciate having this knowledge before it arrives. We're in the Southwest liked you so I anticipate having to do lots too protect it from the sun until I can build a portal (cover). Thank you for your honest help here!

Good video, never put much thought into protecting the cover. Just usually washed it down with water. I will be using the 303 product.

Another good thing, especially in hot climes, is to shade your tub and it's cover. Mine is under a pergola, and I have sun-shade fabric over the top of said pergola, tub in the shade during the high sun.

I would love that! My wife, on the other hands, wants to be able to see the stars at night. So we're at an impasse (which usually means she wins)

I have heard some people say that water can eventually get into the cover through the stitched seams. Sailrite has a video suggesting a vinyl adhesive product called HH66 which can be used as a seam sealant that dries clear. I am currious if the covers manufacturers have anything that keeps water out of the seams. Others have suggested annually inspecting your foam insulation and it's wrap. Water getting inside to the foam will affect its insulating properties. May be less of an issue in warmer climates but my winters usually get well below freezing. My cover is 6 inches at its thickest.

Great video. 303 is a high quality product. Armorall is crap and in my experience is worse than using nothing. The 303 product you used is the same as the one labeled marine. I clean the entire tub and cover with a little dishwasher soap first. After a thorough rinse and dry, I apply 303 with a microfiber cloth. I have an Hot Spring Envoy and use 303 on the cabinet sides and corners as well. Leaves a nice matte finish with no greasy residue like Armorall. It is better to apply 303 when its not so sunny out.

I was told at the hot tub business that I bought my hot tub from that the damage comes from the condensation on the inside(underside) of the cover. I was told that the moisture infiltrates from the underside and deteriorates the foam inside. Have you heard this? If so, what precautions can be made to prevent this from happening.

So what causes hot tub covers to ruin? Is it because they get water logged or the sun? Do they make covers for the covers or can you put a tarp over the cover to make it last longer?

Why are the skirts up under your cover? That is my biggest peave with covers is the shrinkage of the skirts.

If it’s leather u shud use a leather feed. This is used on Rolls Royce upholstery it feeds the leather keeps it from cracking then use ur 303.
