The grey squarish part of the carriage at the back is a water tank. One of each side. They connect to the engines via a hose on each side to feed water until the boat is in the water.
Never had opportunity to crew a boat, so I sent my money to crew the boat. He don't mind 3am in January for a 20 mile rescue, no my money don't mind one bit! Always put money into the box at the station , could be some teabags or diesel, my money don't care. Glad to give, and glad to help where I can, but than your dad for his service!!

My dad left the sea for my mum. He always regretted having to leave the RNLI crew.
