Thanks for the updated review. Wanted to get a pair to add to the beam but we were able to get our hands on some used One Gen2s for a really great price so I’m glad to hear the sound quality isn’t that much different between the two models so I don’t feel like I’m missing out! They are used as surround speakers anyways.

I have two Play 1's I use as stereo surround sound to my beam (gen 2), sub (gen3) setup. I've been thinking of upgrading them to era 100s but from the reviews I've seen (and your video), it looks like it's not worth it unless you are predominantly using them for music and not TV/Movies etc. Think I'll either wait for the Arc (Gen 2) or see what the next gen for single speakers are like.

I have a Beam with a Gen 3 Sub with Symfonisk rears for my LG OLED 55C1. I upgraded after X-mas to Sonos One SLs and really didn't hear a difference. Don't want to purchase the Era 100 for $500 just to end up with similar sound quality as my previous Symfonisk or One SLs. Mostly have the system in home theater mode with Atmos and Dolby 5.1 content.

After hearing the set with arc, two ERA 300 and two subs.. I can’t like anything else for Atmos .. now I’m just missing the second sub. Lol

Personally I like Sonos a lot. I started with a Roam, and then I bought a Beam Gen 2 as PC speaker. No complains about it. It just works for me, and I'd like to add a pair of Era 100 and a Sub Mini to have a better inmersive experience. Do you think that a stereo pair of Era 100 using the line-in cable connected to a PC will have a significant delay?

If you have a problem with reach on your wifi, you can use the sonos boost, it creates a mesh using your sonos speakers to bounce the wifi from speaker to speaker and as far as i know it creates its own network so it wont interfere with your existing wifi mesh system.

Great review! Can I get your thoughts on whether I should go with a pair of Sonos Era 100s or HomePod minis for my desk setup? I use a KVM switch to switch between my work and personal Macs. But ideally I’d use Bluetooth or WiFi to switch back and forth or even keep both connected.

@@RandysDirtyBurger that’s for the heads up - also, I bought the era 100 and I am returning them. They sound amazing. But for my computer setup, the connection is just not fast enough and the connection keeps turning off (maybe once per hour). They also don’t work for zoom. Only music and video. I need fast response to volume adjustment, which these don’t have. They’re really just for listening to music and I would rather have slightly lower quality, but more flexible speakers. I’m going back to regular computer speakers. Probably the Logitech Z407. If you just want the era for music, they’re a great buy!

Era 100s can sound far superior to Sonos Ones IF you know how to use their potential. Era 100s when used as surrounds provide you a 7.1.2 system, unlike with ones that maxes out at 5 channels. So if you use Era100s and watch physical medias with Dolby true HD 7.1 or DTS-HD 7.1 audio tracks, you’ll get a much better surround experience.

@@techspec1 I didn't follow up on this, so I'm glad you did. Sonos products, while good, have a shelf life of between 5 -7 years.
That makes them a rental for the high ticket item they have become. Are they worth it? More or less, yes. Audio engineering
will keep extending the shelf life, so it only gets better from here. Playbar is at the end of its shelf life and was a good soundbar

Tried a demo set of Era 100 at an upscale dept store in SG and the sound is really unimpressive. Bass is almost non-existent like their Play 1s. So its totally not applicable in a TV/movie setup. For music, any genre tats bass dependent like dance, hip hop or electronic, even pop will sound lackluster. Plus at S$429 its way too overpriced to its competitors. I'm going to stick to my HK Omni 10 tat sound way better and looks great too. Additionally, the reviews from other RUclipsrs of the sound latency and inconsistent performance is a big no-no.
