Must have been 2005-2006 when I first saw this movie. This scene still makes me emotional to this day. Even when I wasn't able to understand the juxtaposition of the music compared to the crumbling environment and the emotional undertones. I knew this scene was special even as a kid.
Do you remember the moment when Tima had Kenichi in a chokehold, then paused as if coming to her senses? In that brief instant before they fell, it was as if they were dancing a haunting, beautiful waltz amidst the horror. It was a fleeting, poignant moment of grace.
Rock"No one is going to kill my father. You people will never take Dad from me. He's mine, and if I can't have him, no one will. I'll take us all down with me."
Made me sad and tear up a bit when rock committed suicide just to save Duke who he sees as his father and while Duke didn't really see rock as a son and instead just a worker. Poor rock.. even made me sad when tima died... again ig??? But at least she's rebuilt.
Totally Agree!, I am a fan of Evangelion and I love this movie and I know what yo are talking about..., "Ending of all Endings, The End of Evangelion, no other words to describe...", that´s my phrase.
Eduardo Abud was a great series but the ending... I felt like whilst I was watching it someone slipped a tab of acid into my tea and everything just started to melt.
we all have to die sometime, if the dead can help find me the two gifts i received, I got to have some faith that they re safe with me and is a test for me daily not to do stupid thing. And I think people die from car accidents so often, that the risk I am facing is not even worthy of consideration.
Anime apparently has it's own physics. Wind is always whipping through hair but somehow smoke and dust rise calmly into the air. They should have a "Wind Continuity Editor" to make sure the elements fit together and actually make some sense, even if we're looking at fiction.

it was also made by the same studio as Akira with a similar budget adjusted for inflation. imagine what they could accomplish with Disney level animation budgets! (they are typically 4-5 times bigger, and Akira & Metropolis were VERY expensive films by Japanese standards, around $15M. even Snow White was $26M in 2017 dollars)
i'mm gonna reply to you even though this was 5 years ago lmfao,, deadass the song here made the movie standout. I would have never checked this movie out if i hadn't seen glimpses of this scene with ray Charles in the background
Nope, there is a way and a place to make silent explosions. And this wasn't it. This song is the highlight of the movie, in the middle of (In my opinion) an ost that despite being great often doesn't match up with how the film feels, there is this song, and it amplifies the freak out of this scene. It's the end of the city, the end of Tima and the ironic destruction of man's structural technologic advancements. The song fits perfectly, because it is indeed, a bittersweet ending.
This scene made me cry
+jay topel I have an extra ticket to the FEELippines, my friend.
+jay topel i she a cyborg or a android cause im think in should add it as a sith borg during STAR WARS the old republic
+2bluegems & I Dalek Productions i mean is she
This movie is such a masterpiece in terms of animation, that the story almost comes short.
Metropolis or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Ziggurat
2021 and I still come back to this scene

Rock is adopted
If you think so..., I think this is a very beautiful scene, with a lot of touch and sadness.
this is just beautiful, captivating....and timeless.
At least Kenchi was able to rebuild Tima and open a robot company with her 😭
JB0523 How do you know that?
@@K1WarmWinter It is shown in a picture, after the ending credits. But she's being alive is kinda subjective there, but not improbable.
This was the shit back then, still is one of my favorite anime movies of all time
Love it. bitter sweet ending though. but an excellent movie
This is how we make an explosion so touching.
I approve of this video.
this anime is sad, lovely and making me wish for more ^^
I always put this scene on to match my feeling of my own humanity crumbling
This is so very aesthetic

My heart....
It just doesn't get any better than this.
i cried, but also laughed a little at "sing the song, children"
0:52 Perhaps Rock is now redeemed
Rock"No one is going to kill my father.
You people will never take Dad from me. He's mine, and if I can't have him, no one will. I'll take us all down with me."
Mima Masafumi is a madlad
Made me sad and tear up a bit when rock committed suicide just to save Duke who he sees as his father and while Duke didn't really see rock as a son and instead just a worker.

She's rebuilt? Really?m
And that's all she wrote for the Ziggurat. God's wrath descended on the tower...
NOTED AND WILL REVIEW
"Who-who am I-I?"

大卫David so does everyone else!
I have it in blu-ray. Who's Jealous?
I watch it totally free on illegal websites, bruh... one of the good things of living in a shithole country
In 1080p eng subs
Why the big explosion etc? its symbolic imo. And pretty if u ask me (especially in this context)
we all have to die sometime, if the dead can help find me the two gifts i received, I got to have some faith that they re safe with me and is a test for me daily not to do stupid thing.

Amazing what the push of a single button can do huh?
HD.... finally....
So sad >_
Don't worry, she'll be back.
As soon as all the pieces are reassembled.
Ok I played this at 2X speed and now I cannot take it seriously
Death of Loki General Hux And Disney Villains in 2020

me facina exelente animacion
Fucking sweaty hands
❤️❤️❤️😢
I don't see any humour in this.
Irony, yes, but nout humour as such.
Where's superman?
😢
MAN it's bizarre to see anime of a graphical quality on western par.
You should see some Studio Ghibli movies then if you haven't already.
flensdude | pTarian oh? will look over it, if I get the chance.
just to put it out, this was made on purpose in an older style
it was also made by the same studio as Akira with a similar budget adjusted for inflation. imagine what they could accomplish with Disney level animation budgets! when i watched this i couldn't stop laughin' xD
I can't stooop waaanting youuuu xD
watch the original
I know the music has some irony- moral theme to it, but I think the silence with natural sounds of the explosions would have been better.
