The sound in the car was pretty disappointing! Both the background noise of the a-c and the echo from the car.
I have had a Fulaim X5 for a couple of weeks and I love it. BUT… my $30 wired PurplePanda lav sounds better! Using some basic adjustments using LumaFusion can remove the differences and bring the Fulaim up to the PurplePanda standard. I use both with an iPhone12pm.
Hey Amy, Dave from DJNZ here, Really value your review testing of this unit, I'm eagerly awaiting arrival of mine. I have to say that overall, I think I prefer the audio in the previous clip simply because it sounds more natural and consistent throughout. This clip, at the 0:30 mark in the car, to my ear the sound seemed a little... hmm, hard to describe, 'stripped out' and thin? same again at the 3.00 mark, and I wondered if you had the noise cancellation function switched on at those points..? At the 2.15 and 2:30 mark audio sounds really good. I hope this is taken in the constructive and appreciative spirit intended... Truly appreciate your effort doing these reviews and tests.
I also thought maybe the noise cancellation was turned on because I noticed a difference in the audio as well. One thing that I have found that I don’t like is that when I turn on the recording, it’s the same button as the noise cancellation so I can’t tell if I’ve turned it on by mistake. I wish the unit had a hepatic vibration or sound that would let me know that I’ve turned it on by mistake.

@2:17 when u took the gopro and faced the window, bam! Problem detected! The audio you have been using came from the gopro, not fulaim. #fact
Hi Amy, your audio sounded fine up till 0:30 in. I’m not sure how to explain it but after that your audio seemed to have varying tones from soft and shallow to coarse and edgy, and variations thereof. I think it could be how the Fulaim is recording your voice. Have you compared the audio coming directly out of the transmitter to the recorded audio?
Yes. I have to long press to start recording and I honestly do think I turned the noise cancelling on by mistake
How do you actually connect it to the GoPro? I don’t think you showed it in any videos
You don’t actually connect it to the GoPro. You use the microphone’s internal memory and sync the audio to video in your editing software. I use fcpx and it’s as simple as highlighting both clips and hit sync
Maybe its because Ive come from another video that was using a studio mic, but this mic sounds very tinny. There is no base to the sound at all.
I was set on buying one of these kits having listened to other reviews, but they had received the product free. This has put me off purchasing
I also returned it and went with the DJI
