This is such a good way to teach this. You give intuition behind how it works, you show how the electricity flows through the circuit (which is awesome!) and then you show the waveforms with this. Your video could not be better, please keep making more like this because this is very rare in the electronics field! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
this explains way better then 99% of examples they all fail to explain that is reversed load and probably made many people putting the cap the wrong direction
Wow, not only explained very very well, but accompanied by waveforms. I actually understood this. You are a very good teacher sir. This was very helpful. Thumbs up and saved. I subscribed as well.
You're very welcome!

Your solar example of lowering or raising volts to 12 volts is good. However there is another solar example. If the panels provide 19 to 20 volts, the battery controller may be more efficent at higher voltage (up to 30 volts). So boosting the 19.5 v to say 28 volts chargers at a faster rate. This is a problem I had with my "Power Station". A power station being a portable battery, with charge controller, inverter, usb ports and display to monitor charge and load power. With my solar panels connected direct I was getting 75 watts. With the boost converter in-line I went to 133 watts (this is max peak sun).
That helped me a lot
Glad you liked it!
well explained bro...
Thank you so much for watching, please dont forget top subscribe to my channel!!!
TY for sharing. A video idea vould be to show how topology can be driven with a high side driver, how to make one such driver and what the setbacks to this topology is and what other topologies have replaced it. All of that is maybe for more than one video... None the less. TY.
Thank you so much for watching!!
This was awesome! I hope you made/make more. Going to look through your other videos now. Thanks so much!
Thank you, I will
Thanks a lot bro 👍
Thank you so much, Glad you liked it!!
I was told that voltage from solar panels remain nearly constant in bright sunlight or in the shade and that it is current output from the panel that changes drastically from when in shade and direct sunlight. At 7:17 of the video you mention to the contrary.
Well!!! whatever you heard about current is true, but the voltage of the solar panel also changes tremendously due to climatic conditions
better than my power electronics teacher XD
Thank you!!
my electronics bank is improving . many thanks !
Great!

Very good explanation for a buck-boost converter but if you can make some practical circuits for more clarity that will be best. You know if a math teacher explains some math formula then after the explanation he also gives some examples. If you will make a video for some practical buck-boost circuits and attach it with this video as a playlist that will be great.
thank you for your feedback. I'll work on it
Big fan sir
At 5:14 should the polarity of the current through the inductor also not reverse? Thanks for the video.
Thank you
Thank you so much! Please show support to my video with Super thanks and don't forget to subscribe to our channel
Thanks for your video. I want to realize a bidirectional buck and boost converter. Can you help me to design it?
I have a question
at 4:27, to use a mosfet in the triode region, V(Drain to Source) have to rise linearly so that drain current rise linearly.
Why do you want a MOSFET in Triode region? it works either in saturation region or cutoff region in Power supplies.
Can you explain how this cicuit steps up and steps down the voltage and how you derived the formula for Vout?
step up & step down depends up on the duty cycle of PWM.
You will get the Vout formula derivation in any power electronics reference book.
Please explain how to calculate output voltage?
Hi, this design worked for me when I connected a DC battery to it, but when I use a solar panel as input it no longer boosts the voltage… Can someone help me with this? The solar panel when I measure with voltmeter gives about 5 volts and the battery I used gives 1.5 volts.
I have confusion on how to use a multimeter. When I measure ohm by fluke, it starts with a big number then goes down to a number. Why it does that? (e.g starts with 315.7 ohm then decrement down to 150 ohm)
Thanks a lot
Thank you so much, Glad you liked it!!
Please sir I need you to help me out with the design parameters most importantly that of the feedback which I guess is responsible for switching the mosfet
May you elaborate a little more on "Nowadays nobody uses this topology in the actual system due to its numerous disadvantages, but this is the base of all step up-step down converters"? What is used instead? Thanks in advance!
did you get a reply? I am curious as well
@@MrRohailbootwala I did not get a reply, just a like.
You can use Sepic converters, cuk converter or flyback converter as well for isolated output
nandri vanakam
Thanks for this valuable information bro.
I just wanted to implement this buckboost converter to hardware.
So Could please help me in the designing of this converter!
I wanted to know the designing parameters of Buckboost converter to implement it in hardware
What would be the optimal solution for Solar charging, Buck Boost converter or only Charge control circuit practically?
You need hardware of buck-boost converter & controlling strategy of maximum power point tracking
Thanks.
Thank you so much for watching!! Please don't forget to subscribe to our channel
nice ..thanks alot..makes much sense now..can i please have example parameters
Sure, soon I'll make video on it
Yes please make a video
i want output stable constant voltage of 12.15 instead of input voltage is 15volt. are u sure is that possible for example like stabilizer and computer ups
Thank you very much for the explanation. Please could you help me with the design parameters?
Sure! I'll make a video soon!
Wow! I will be really grateful.
Thank u
Thank you so much, Glad you liked it!!
Thanks
No problem
The depiction shows an electrolytic capacitor and these capacitors have certain polarity. In the case when they get discharged they have different polarity from the case that were charged, similarly with the polarity change of the inductor. So wouldn't that destroy the capacitor?
One thing that confuses me, the voltage across the capacitor cannot change immediately, which means the V_c = V_out will slowly charge up when the switch Q1 is turned off. Please tell me what am I misunderstand here?
Can u have the MATLAB simulink model for this equivalent circuit !
thx!!!
Thank you very much for watching my video
Sir, if we have a Source Voltage of 24 V then what should be the value of Pulse which we provide it to the Gate terminal of MOSFET and how do we calculate that.
Hi Dude,
You need to use a High side MOSFET driver for this application!
What's with the blurred out part for the VDS(Q1) waveform?
Is it possible for a solar panel to get a DC output volatg (12v from 20W panel) constantly, I meant when the panel get low voltage then boost process and when high voltage then buck process to get 12V output voltage using this buck - boost circuit?
Yes, it is possible!
Please make battery balencer video
what are the disadvantages of the Non isolated DC TO DC CONVERTERS
Hi friend
Two things:
1: Can you explain the function of the duty cycle in the wave forms?
2: Can you do a video of buck and boost converter on a half bridge explaining the duty cycle in wave forms
Thanks.
o maybe you have a document where i can undertand this topics?
As of now, I don't have a document. But, you can find any white paper on the buck boost converter only.
I
Have a question can I parallel solar and wind turbine
We are applying dc current on the input side when MOSFET is turned on the inductor will act as a short circuit because its dc current doesn't blow out the circuit please elaborate.
What's the duty cycle? What MOSFET are you using and which params is your circuit made for?
if noone uses this topology anymore, what sort of topology do they use for in order to step up and down input voltage ?
Sepic or cùk converter
A push pull can do the job with a feedback
Please make a practical video. Design physically and test efficiency
Hi sir FE I need your help . Pls help me, how stable my voltage from motor generator to boost converter. Because my boost converter module requires permanent voltage , but my main input supply is always changing the milliamps everytime and my peak voltage is always goes up and goes down.. Can you give me tips how to stable my motor generator output aside for fixed regulator?
I am sorry man, I can't help you but Thank you very much for watching my video
How do you connect battery at the output of the voltage is inverted?
If the output voltage is inverted, then you can.
Sir this is my major project , can u please share the ppt of this 👍
Is there a video on the feedback loop parameters? I need it for my exam
Not yet, sorry! working on it
what is the working of the feedback?? and please tell what is the circuit of feedback and how it is working in this circuit...... please help its urgent
It is the type of Analog control.
Bro we going to make a project on this topic so we need complete information
Will you provide ?
Dude, I am happy to help.. you can check all the references in the description of the video
If we set the output voltage to 12v and varry the input from 3.7 to 5 v will the output voltage change??
Depends if you supply enough power. Power in and power out will always be the same (of course with respect to efficiency) .
With a battery this is quite efficient but wouldn't it waste a portion of the solar energy because it turns off for a cycle?
Can you..share..the specific components use..please
What are your specifications
How many voltage are boosted using boost converter input and output
It depends on the duty cycle & input voltage. I would suggest if you are aiming for high Power Application Don't go for Buck-boost converter. Use any other isolated topology
Can i use this in a automotive application to lower voltage from 14 volts to 9 volts to lower voltage to an ignition coil? Also if the incoming voltage fluctuates between 12 and 15 volts will the output be consistent at 9 volts or will that too fluctuate? Thanks
You don't need any boost for that situation so a simpler buck circuit will do.
@@isaacclark9825 so what would you suggest to lower voltage feom 14 volts to 9 volts? A resistor or variable resistor?
@@cobraman428 I would suggest a buck converter rather than a boost-buck converter.
Please Help me with the design parameters
Sir how to control duty ratio of buck boost converter.
You have to use analog control or digital controlling technology
How is the coil will change its polarity in the discharge mode?
I will soon upload a video about how does an Inductor work, please hold on for awhile
Please tag me
The n channel mosfet can be turn off I use a micro controller and I use the 440 ohms resistor to turn it off in high side switching it’s not hard or tricky from the gate is turn off that the fix
is it the same as reverse charging if the load is battery ? is it safe?
Yes, It is safe, Many charging solutions are present based on Buck-boost converters.
What is the mean of the Buckboost inverter type or non inverter......?
in inverting type of buck boost converter the output voltage reverses. (Check - 0:50)
in non-inverting type the polarity of the voltage stays same
I need circuit digram and components
