Thank you for posting this. We used this method when covering our RV yesterday. Everything went smoothly. By using a long strap attached in the middle, I wasn't hauling the full weight of the cover all at once up to the roof. We have a Classic RV Cover that is made of nylon parachute-type fabric. We've owned 2 of these covers and they have outlasted the Adco covers we've used in the past.
I start by folding the sides up to the top, then fold lengthwise towards the middle until it's about as wide as the bag, then fold from front to back until it's small enough to cram into the bag and cinch. Then to put it on, start from the back and unroll it in reverse towards the front (do it all in reverse order). Once you've done it a few times, you'll get the hang of it.
Here's an update on this cover. After two years, I found the original cover in this video to be less durable in hot sun but adequate for basic protection from rain and snow. I continue to like the ease of use and light weight features.
Lol first year living in an rv its fall/winter and on budget we got a tarp to protect from the wet elemts of the season but we were asked to take it down by management been looking for other alternatives thank you 🥲
I am in BC Canada, Just bought a cover for my RV 23ft Motorhome Class C after watching this video, and no I could not get it back in the bag lolol, I watched your other video about the garbage can, of course did not get done as fast as your video lolol, came as advertised, had a buddy help me put it on, great product, and also bought a Motorcycle cover, which worked out incredible, and even has a zippered area by the Tour Pak, awsome products,
I ended up taking of my cover off it was creating a greenhouse effect and heating up inside the van on a 30c day it was 45c inside .
The cover label said it's breathable but heat was getting trapped in the out side roof space and the cover.
.covers are good in winter
Just bought new cover. Thanks for your video. This was a great help making installation super easy.
I've gone through many of these covers over the years. The corners eventually tear from the weight of the cover and sharp edges. UV will also chew the material up. I found putting a tarp on just the very top of the RV and then placing a cover over them will help with sharp edges and corners of your vents, AC and antenna. These covers eventually leak over time and the tarp will help.
That's a good tip to prolong the life of the cover. The premier cover from Empire I'm using now seems to be holding up so far. I've only had it for one winter so far though. Time will tell. Thanks for the comment.
PAT DOWNEY I’ve found tarps will Scratch full body paint
Had a polypropylene cover like this. Fell apart in one year from UV damage.
Most RV covers are not waterproof. They are designed that way to breathe and not trap moisture. I cover my 38 foot class A. I want to share a good technique I use. First I orient the cover on the ground and wrap the cover every 3 feet or so with bungie cords, then I tie a rope on the end and climb the ladder with the rope only where I’m able to easily pull one end of the cover up. I then slowly pull the cover up with the bungie cords attached. Once the cover is on the roof I start at one end and take the bungie cords off and carefully drop the covers sides down. The bungie cords help in controlling the cover if there is a breeze. If it’s windy it’s almost impossible to put the cover on and I wait for the wind to diminish. One other note. Once you take that cover out of the bag it’s shipped in, it’s incredible difficult to get it back in that bag. I don’t do that. Some people buy a large trash can and store it in there.
Not bad !!! What about the price ???? I have dought that it would do much in a Canadian winter.
How about keeping the snow off with a removable a frame set on top any ideas?
Thanks for the tip, Tito.
Good to know...Did u ever do a video about taking off??
Thank you very much!
Are there reinforcements at the roof corners or edges, as well as AC unit, vents, antennas, and other harp or blunt areas, I've been using 3-ply [layers] of tarps with additional coverings padding over each roof object and edges and added several tiedown 'D' rings all around the bottom of my trailer. but I don't have any vents or easy access to get inside. I lace it down tight like a giant shoe using one long zip cord around the entire RV going D-Ring to Grommet 120 times.
How do you prevent mold of the RV if it is covered? We live in Arizona so there's not much moisturemost of the time.
Thank you
You're welcome
I've watched six youtube videos so far, an NO ONE has explained how exactly you get on the roof with the 40kg (88lbs) cover? If you are up there with the cover, the rest does not need explaining.
Just found your site! We also live here in the PAC NW & have a Forest River Forester 25TS. Thanks for the advice on the RV cover - ordering ours today from Empire!
I was gonna ask about how do you get In-N-Out. We stay INR RV almost year round. We do leave it months at a time
Most covers have a panel by the door that you can roll up and tie at the top.
Cool, thanks for the help Tito, I really appreciate it. Looking forward to seeing your next video :-)
I purchased and used this cover after watching this video last fall. Sadly it performed poorly in a North Dakota winter. The material is a light felt which tears easily along the seems due to the perforating effect of the stitching. The zippers kept managing to unzip in the wind. After four months of fighting with the cover, it was taken off with many rips and tears throughout. Please do not purchase this cover if wind is a factor.
Recently, Empire Covers sent me their new award winning Premier RV Cover to review and I am anxious to try it out. The Premier cover is made of higher quality materials than the previous cover I reviewed and claims to be fully waterproof. Click the links in the video description to check them out.
Hey Tito, we live here in the NW also and I was wondering how these covers work with our wet winters?
Hi! Great video. You may not still be monitoring this site, but I have a serious question: I'm a female RVer and I bought a 35' cover for my motorhome. However I haven't used it because I can't get it up to the top of the RV. Sure I probably could have asked a strong guy to do it, but I am one of those independent types, who thinks I should be able to do it myself. Any tips? Thanks again!
Great question. I've been looking into solutions to this problem as well. Here's a suggestion. Don't carry the entire cover up onto the roof. Unroll it next to the RV making sure the front and rear of the cover are aligned with your RV. Then attach one of the long straps used to tie it down to a clip near the back of the cover. Grab the strap and walk it up to the roof. Once up on the roof, use the strap to pull the cover up to the roof (it helps to have the entire side zippered up). Continue pulling portions of the cover up until the entire cover is on the roof. You might want to tie the strap to your ladder to keep it from dropping down as you pull up the rest of the cover. Once the cover is on the roof, you can then drop the sides down to the other side and hook it all up. To remove the cover, you can reverse the process to get the cover on the ground next to the RV. Then roll it up and stow it from there.
Thanks so much for replying! I didn't think you would. That surely may work! I thought of putting it on the ground and grabbing one end and just start climbing the ladder, pulling it up as I go, but I was afraid I'd tear it in some way. I'll try your solution. I really appreciate it!
Just be aware of any sharp edges (rain gutter thing maybe) on the side of your RV that may grab the fabric. Also be careful walking near the edge. Once the cover is up on the roof, it's really easy to lose track of where the edge is. So watch your step and don't pull up more than you can handle. Let me know how it goes. Good luck!
Another option to try is to position the cover behind your RV with the sides folded in, then walk one end up the ladder. Once on the roof, you can pull the rest of the cover up. With this method, you need to be sure not to snag the cover on the ground as you drag it up. Just find the method that works best for you. Good luck!
Ask a weak guy. Lol
I want one but this Florida sun would this be a good one
Just watch out for the really thin ones. They don't hold up to heat very well.
Do a update with all the stuff on your roof now
What did you have over your front windshield cover ? Where did you get that or did you make it ? thank you for the video ...
Mr Bryan.. Do you still use RV covers? How long did this cover last... Please a video of how you tool up and store the cover.
Thank you
Hi Tito. How is that new more durable Empire cover holding up for you? I'm searching for good quality cover for my fifth wheel RV. By the way thanks very much for you review.
Still holding up good. I have it on right now actually.
Hey there Tito, it's me again, Forester 3121DS 2013 guy. Yesterday, I put a brand new RV cover on my Class "C" RV for the very first time straight out of the mfg box. I was by myself when I put it onto my rig and it took about 45 minutes (mainly because it was my first time and I wanted to ensure I installed it right.)
Anyway, do you have any tips or recommendations as to how I might want to fold the cover up when I take it off the RV before my next trip? Thanks again for all of your help.
Nice cover, but high winds? It would have also been nice to see you put it back in the same bag….mmmmm Not always easy...
Hmmmm driving around with your kids in the back without seatbelts on, very responsible!!
Why arent your kids helping?
