    As others have pointed out, this is a humidifier plus a water filter with some bells and whistles. It would be easy to rig a diy version up, but this is a nice all-in-one package with the added UV and and water circulation. Where most of these companies try to screw you is on the filters. How does this one stack up? I checked their website and in the FAQ section they stated a set of filters for water and air last about 1 year, and a replacement set is $60. That actually seems like a pretty reasonable price. I am interested. Haven't run across a unit price though. The only thing of that I can think this thing is missing is the ability to have it send overflow production to an external tank or 5 gallon water jug so you aren't having to manually intervene. May not be needed though if it is as good as they tout because it would then be used daily for all drinking/cooking.

    • @showandtell_petesa

      The overflow production is an interesting idea and I agree that the filter situation with this product and company is pretty fair compared to other water and air filtration devices.

    it is doable and should be a thing everywhere sponsored by governments and big tech. But unfortunately most of these great ideas either not profitable for small production start up or its simply a scam project. either way let there be water for every living organism that needs to live.

    These are usually called air conditioners. 😂 These “magical” water making machines are nothing but water cooling condensers. The electricity to extract (not generate) water from the air cost hundreds of times what the water costs just to buy it. You also have the filters and the task of keeping the unit clean. It works fairly well in high humidity areas but in dryer, desert like air, they are horribly inefficient. Bottles of water cost about 8 cents in bulk. Tap water is many times cheaper than that. The ironic part is that if you have it in an air conditioned house or office, your AC has removed much of the water all ready and your inside air is likely below the 35% humidity needed.

    • @rubberknees
      @rubberknees Год назад +13

      Actually it is a dehumidifier.

    • @trevorpinnocky
      @trevorpinnocky Год назад +11

      i don’t think anyone is saying this tech is new, but the name simply follows the function. the components all need to be produced so the water extracted is safe for consumption, so the internals are different. it’s the same tech as a dehumidifier, not an air conditioner. the amount of electricity you need to run them amounts to pennies per day. in fact, it can be created for LESS than the cost to buy. some of these costs less than $2/day to run and will produce up to 8 gallons of water.

      Sort of yeah. You can think of it as a glorified and specialized version of a humidifier that filters the air, extracts water way more efficiently in various humidity levels, and filters the water so it's more drinkable.

    Some complications...this HurRain water generator appears to be the same unit marketed as the Solaris Watergen so maybe HurRain went to/became Solaris??? Other problem is that: while an atmospheric water generator seems like a good idea, the Solaris youtube video does mention that it SHUTS DOWN and is not operating below 35% humidity. So I am sitting here in Amarillo, Texas and the humidity right now July 2, 2024 is about 33% so the Solaris/HurRain?? will not be making any water in this or similar or perhaps even more deserty type states (Arizona, New Mexico Nevada) or areas of the world. Manufacturers do not seem to want to tell you in what low humidity their units will operate and the time to generate water at even 50% humidity as mentioned by the Solaris owner is very excessive-something like 48 hours for the Solaris/maybe HurRain to evidently generate just a minimum 10 liters or so-ouch!! So I presently have a filter setup I will have to stay with as atmospheric water generation wouldn't seem to be a dependable workable option in this type area and climate.

    Why even show it in other countries when the individuals there cant pay for it. I seen these unit go from 1,100 for 2 gal up to 27000 for 200 gals that is only if your temperature condition are right why not just dig a well if in the USA then they dont offer financing on cost. Why not make a unit for about $300-500 if your only going to get a few gals out of it anyways.
