Very touching video, especially since I am the woman who is married to the then child-actor in the commercial Andy Lambros. Mr. Ringlien and the Oscar Mayer experience contributed greatly to Andy's following a career in advertising, technology and media. Absolutely fantastic video. Very factual. Thank you so much for uploading this wonderful interview : )
I was 5 years old when this commercial came out, I remember it like it was yesterday along with many other commercials of the day like Chiffon "It's not nice to fool Mother Nature!" and the classic Coke commercial "I'd like to buy the world a Coke"........The good ole days.
My all time favorite commercial when I was a kid. I would sing this song along with the commercial and at age 59, I still remember it perfectly.... Thx for the creative idea in marketing and for fun childhood memories
This kid is about the same age as me and this ad is burned into my memory - usually from Saturday morning cartoons. There's something so nice and innocent and unpretentious about this ad. So well done.
As I made my husband a bologna sandwich this morning, thought about the commercial burned in my memory. Had to you tube it. Watching it made me smile. Such an adorable little boy😊
Thanks for the kind words. Dad was always very proud that he took on the so-called marketing experts and fought to use Andy's version instead of the original plan.
Wow, I can't believe I am just seeing all of these amazing comments right now! My apologies for the delayed responses. I must not have seen the notifications. Thank you for the comment, HeyHow! Very kind of you. Andy only has nice things to say about everything. Your dad was someone very special :)
I have loved this commercial since I was a little kid. Bologna isn't exactly an easiest word to spell. This commercial taught me how to spell it. Now anytime I have to spell Bologna I stop and think about this commercial now. LoL!
It's interesting hearing about those last minute decisions that turn out to make all the difference. And that late day sun gave the commercial a dreamy effect.
All those drug commercials, because people are now sick from eating bologna and other stuff like this for so many decades! But it is cute; fun memorable commercials back then!
When we were living in Eugene, OR I got asked to sing the for Oscar Mayer back in 1970 I think it was. I guess someone heard me singing the Oscar Mayer Wiener song and wrote in and they came and had me sing for them. I told them I didn't want to do a commercial.
I found this video a few days ago ... 'Never knew of Jerry Ringlien but just minutes before I stumbled onto the video ... I was just trying to find out some info about some really awesome ring bologna in Wisconsin and I found this little treasure of a story! The story is fantastic. The story teller is awesome! 'Wish Jerry were still around but in the meantime, how awesome is it that his family have these stories to share. Cheers!
Very interesting. I have had this clip bookmarked for many years. I sometimes watch it not just for the story itself, but for the wonderful storytelling character that Jerry Ringlien was. He is just fascinating to listen to. Hope you and Andy are doing well these days.
I think it's great that you found someone in your church even. This is a great story for a delightful commercial. We liked to have OM bologna with Shedd's horseradish sauce. It was tasty and fun.
I’ll never forget that commercial! I wasn’t much older than that kid when that commercial debued. Does anybody know what ever became of that kid? Where is he now? What does he look like?
Look into the Mandela effect. My dad sang it today and also sang Meyer. Just like "KitKat" used to be "Kit-Kat" and "chick-fil-a" used to be "chic-fil-a"
Oscar's last name was spelled "Mayer". And the recipe for that luncheon meat originated in the town of Bologna, Italy (pronounced: boh LOH nyah). "The more you know" ^_^
Coffee_in_AtomU it depends, when the old earth was in the Sagittarius arm of the Milky Way, it was MEYER, but after the Mandela shift those of us aware now know this earth is on the Orion spur of the Milky Way and here in this parallel earth it's MAYER. ITS CALLED THE Mandela effect. Man y remember Berenstein Bears, ToStinos Pizza rolls, Immodium, Star Wars: LUUUKE IM YOUR FATHER, and the car logos were different too. Millions are affected. Are you? RUclips Mandela Effect to find out.

To this day, every time I add bologna to a grocery list, I spell it out to this melody.
This song is deep-rooted in memories from my childhood - Thank you for sharing your dad's back-story!
I love this song! And when this guy says “and of course their parents🙄,” I lost it!🤣🤣🤣

The BEST television commercial ever!
I came to this because I was just singing the Bologna song and we are nearly 50 years removed from the commercial.... that's genius
hope you're still alive and kickin
"How's that" and glancing away is the kicker
40+ years and only a picture brought the memory of the jingle to mind.
Thanks for the kind words. Dad was always very proud that he took on the so-called marketing experts and fought to use Andy's version instead of the original plan.

This was awesome! I’m glad to hear Andy is doing good, take care.
This guy's a really good storyteller.
The way they made that commercial is like hope for all of us.....you never know that something unplanned....last minute...can bring such success....

That's when they had good commercials. Today nothing is memorable and all they have is the depressing drug commercials with the list of side effects,
Canyon Overlook you are so right!
😂😂😂😂
All those drug commercials, because people are now sick from eating bologna and other stuff like this for so many decades! But it is cute; fun memorable commercials back then!
Bologna was what kept ppl healthy it's the stopping of bologna that's starting all these commercials xD
I am from Canada, yet I agree. :-)
I still sing it to this day and feed my boys only the Original while in the store we sing the jingle including How’s That!!!
💟 OMB ❤

That is a *GREAT* STORY! Thanks for Sharing!
btw... what ever happened to that kid??? He *must* be about 51 years old right now.
Thanks! He would've enjoyed your comment. He was a great story-teller.
Very interesting.

I actor doing the voice over tag at the end of the commercial is *Michael Bell*
Absolutely adorable. I remember it well. Showed it to my granddaughter who eats bologna almost every day!!
I’ll never forget that commercial! I wasn’t much older than that kid when that commercial debued. Does anybody know what ever became of that kid? Where is he now? What does he look like?
Fried bologna and cheese sandwich.
Fascinating story! (But you gotta feel bad for all those other little kids.)
He was obviously a very well inform Sesame Street kid...😂
Loved this commercial & song. The little boy was adorable! 👍👏😊😍
That's the only bologna I will eat brings me back to my childhood days 😀
Me too 😊@@brianserpente4366
What became of the little boy fishing singing the Oscar Mayer commercial?
M E Y E R I heard it all through out my childhood.
Mein bratwurst has a first name, it's F-R-I-T-Z;

Say what!!?!
Wow such a young advertiser
The Simpsons tree house of horror brought me here and I’m glad I came, great story! Love live Oscar Mayer Bologna
This video taught me how to spell bologna when I was a kid. :)
He didn't explain why the kid pronounces it "bolon-ee" and the announcer pronounces it "bolon-ah".
Funny how I don't remember Mayer but instead Meyer, even the kid singing the song sounds weird...
Look into the Mandela effect. My dad sang it today and also sang Meyer. Just like "KitKat" used to be "Kit-Kat" and "chick-fil-a" used to be "chic-fil-a"
CLASSIC !
EXCELLENT
My brother's name is Qscar. He hates this song because kids in school would tease him about it. Personally I love it.
Are you aware of any other video of Jerry other than the two great bits you have posted?
Does anyone know whatever became of Andy Lambros?
Choked to death in '91 ironically on a bologna sandwich

Oscar "M E Y E R" ...... it's NOT spelled MAYER!!! This is WRONG :/
hey...something crazy is if you use your Google voice seach and say "oscar meyer song"... Google will spell it out correctly.
So a name can only be spelled one way? OK *smh*
+Jimmy Mac I know, Jimmie Mack...I mean, Jeeezus! who cares that it's spelled differently now..; )
Mayer and Meyer are different surnames. Pretty sure Oscar knew how to spell his own name. XD
