Wow, I had an old Astrocam rocket that had a 110 still camera. This is such a better rocket, I’m tempted to buy and fly one.

A lot of people complained about the parachute being too tight, I didn't think it was that tight but I ended up making my own parachute with thinner plastic, I had more room, so I made a bigger parachute and now I get more video footage time as it takes longer for it to come down.

eRockets has a great deal on these right now. I picked one up just for the camera.

If you buy this rocket I suggest you get another BT 50 body tube and use a conventional Estes type of a shock cord mount the shock cord mount a chunk just like the body tube

At 1st I really liked the idea of this kit for its quickness to build. I do STEM work and to bring in model rockets other than water rockets (PITSCO). With a 90 min slabs of 7-8th graders, not much time.
Am concerned on the quality of the kit. Typical these days. However allowing more time to go over basic 🚀 theory and they can build and fly the next class.
Not sure if this is the ideal kit for them but the kids love to build and fly
Maybe it’ll find a vintage one at decent price. 😉

I noticed that the body tube on this kit seemed thinner than usual. The Star Hopper works well for large groups and short time periods, and it’s available in a bulk set.

I used CA on the fins to make sure it would hold up with the Q-Jet C and D motors.

I was pretty excited to get mine, then it got stuck in a tree on its maiden flight. I got it back, though; I just need to replace the body tube.

I hope Estes comes out with more rockets with an integrated camera!

Some of these rockets are very stable. Mine, for some reason spins wildly. I am rebuilding my own version with BT-50 tube. Also, why did they use a shock cord mount that can potentially block the camera if you happen not to think about it?

The plastic shock cord mount is part of what makes this an easy-to-assemble kit, but you are correct in that the camera has to be rotated to the opposite side. My chief complaint about the rocket is that the body tube seems flimsier than most.

Stupid question... I got one of these and it did NOT come with any "launch lugs". Also don't remember seeing them being attached in the video. Am I missing something? Figuratively or Literately? :-)

    • @REAR_rockets
      @REAR_rockets  Год назад

The launch lug is built into the fin can.

@@stevegooch2356domt feel bad. I just started back up after 45 years and I miss “yesteryears quality”. I had the same question. Launch lug? ¯\(ツ)/¯.
Now if Estes will make them back in the USA again.
Never had this kit. Think in 70s it use 110 film cartridges. I’m old. Lol

Any thoughts on how to either remove the date stamp or correct. I have tried many things, called Estes, but no matter what I try, I get a garbage date in the video. I have deleted the text file, updated the correct date, removed the date stamp but kept the text file, tried N, or No, etc

    • @REAR_rockets

I just modified the text file as indicated in the instructions; it worked fine. You could try calling Estes for additional help.
