you need to do a definitive measure of just how much input latency is added by capping via riva tuner- imo the results are not conclusive

"Alot of online games/game engines suffer from low 1% and 0.1%, even on good tuned hardware.
Capping with rivatuner to a framerate you can maintain fixes this in some game engines.
Other FPS capping methods do not fix the low 1% and 0.1%s.
Here is a video for my viewer, some piece of mind that capping fps with rivatuner isn't the end of the world for a benefit of higher 1% lows.
The test was done in a controlled environment with 100 click averages.
NOW everyone keep in mind, do your own tests. I've provided a riva/msi afterburber config in the last video. Some game engines wont benefit from this. Some do.
If you are still struggling from bad 1% lows tuning your ram timings and cpu can help quite alot. Just also note some game engines are just buggy and poorly optimized.

In RTSS, set up profiles for each game (the "Add" button) , rather than using the Global profile. This allows for individually calibrated limiter settings for each game you play.
Also hold Shift when clicking add. It will display currently running 3d applications.
@@IXFINGERZXI Holding shift adds exclusions. Holding ctrl adds profiles. You can mouse over the Add button for that info.
@@Koozwad didn't even notice. i think the exclusion just sets application detection level to None. I just manually change it afterwards. Thanks for the heads up though.

When I select the benchmark the names for min, average and max fps only stay viable for a second. How can I get the names of the counters to remain forced onscreen during the benchmark like you have?

Can anyone help. I have both configs, I hit Alt F7 but I don't get the additional detail on FPS that Fr33thy has on screen? This is the key to setting an FPS cap and minimizing 1% low impact.
what if you have gsync, vsync in nvcp and capped fps in game?
I'm getting an error message 'Failed to initialize display driver wrapper' since copying configs over to msi afterburner

@@FR33THYJust a theory I think the fact those new proprietary run on two rails causes more heat on the same gauge of wire . I opted to use the plug my gpu came with .4x rail to 600w .One would think better heat distribution and i have not felt any warmth on my plug after a gaming session on my ocd 4090 pulling almost full 600w .would you agree on that theory???I just don't want to melt .Only had this card a month lol.

Nice. I'd be interested in seeing an optimization guide for Cyberpunk RT Overdrive mode with DLSS 3 w/ frame generation. I have a TUF 4090 and 5800X3D and with DLSS Performance 4K + FG, 3 Ray 2 Bounce PT, I get avg 80fps, 60 lows.
The issue is frequently stuttering and frame drops. The gpu usage is always high 90's but the FPS varies on the different areas of the map from 60 to 110 avg fps. This has to be CPU bottlenecking with crowd AI, but gpu load is always around 99%. Foliage actually has a big hit as well, go to the city center jungle to see that.
You bought an 1100$ GPU with a 280$ CPU??? Wait what?
@@d4nith3 No, they were bought separately. The 5800X3D is the best cpu for my motherboard and I saw no urgent rush to get a new MB just to get a newer cpu that is only marginally better for gaming.
The price I paid for for the 4090 was actually a lot more, as I got it it day 1, and I have no regrets. The 5800X3D is a very good CPU for gaming

I'm pretty sure I had the same issue and figured it out:
To add the 0.1% FPS and 1% FPS stats on the RTS overlay, you must enable it through Afterburner burner under the monitor tab. Scroll through the list and click the check next to the "Framerate 1% Low" and "Framerate 0.1% Low," then click apply. After I did that it popped up for me when I started the benchmark with alt f7. Hope this helps!

Help me please . When I start the game, I have timer resolution 0.500. It's because of rivatuner . I like the fps limiter in rivatuner . But I want to have a standard timer resolution of 1

Always check with your game policy especially multiplayer PvP, some game could banned you, because of using MSI + Riva overlay and in some game, the overlay can't appear at all. Thanks Fr33thy.
I’m not saying you’re wrong, but I’ve never heard of a game banning you for using a utility to monitor your hardware. A reshader or other application that alters how a game appears, yes. But this just monitors how your hardware is performing. Afterburner is supplied with your GPU and other manufacturers have similar software
It does say in rtss that the hook may be picked up as cheat software. I had trouble with it recently nut I’m wondering if it’s because it’s not updated anymore and I’m on win11?

Why would you overclock the RTX4090? The GPU is the best on the planet right now! No need to OC unless you want to reduce the lifespan of the GPU!
because it gives 5-7% more fps with an overclock
good example mw2 4k some high settings
instead of 240fps its 260 with an overclock
its free performance?

i personally wouldn't trade off the gpu's lifespan in exchange of going from 240 (which is already an absurd number for me who's broke as hell and have low standards) to 260 but to each their own@@FR33THY
