One super huge tip ( that I STILL struggle with to this day and I’m 45 lol) is to lean back/sit back. Horses will move MORE foward if you lean foward on them, if you sit back( shoulders/upper body back) it tells them to slow down. I know she was a carriage horse but at some point in her life she was trained to be ridden . Have Sophie shift her weight BACK, it goes against everything in human nature, but I promise if she practices this on a large circle/shorts sides of the field/whatever is available, lady WILL slow down and relax. Perfect example:ME, the left lead canter is slow rhythmical etc, the right lead canted is super fast. Why? Bc I tip foward. I’m less balanced on the right even though I’m right handed( I carried both kids on me left hip /side that side got much stronger over the years and now is my strongest side) even when she’s riding out in the field if you are with her, tell her Sophie sit back, relax your shoulders, not necessarily push them back, but relax backwards it’ll feel awkward at first, but the more and more she does it the more and more she will see that lady will calm down and relax herself. Horses are literally mirror images of us to a tea ❤️
At the walk /trot I don’t have this issue, it’s JUST at the canter, which seems to be the same for Sophie ☺️ I promise, practice this a bunch and you will see a different picture ❤
Horses use their head/necks for balance so when WE are off balance they will compensate by raising their heads to help balance the overall picture( if that makes sense) at the walk Sophie is relaxed and sitting back which is when you see lady’s head drop😊
I would think with all the work that Sophie does with her outside of the ring to get her ready for this show she would have been top notch. Didn't she used to win a lot of blue ribbons? She is really a very beautiful horse. Doesn't seem like Sophie is as interested as she used to be. Why do they do that when they get older? I don't get it😢
Well done Sophie & Lady😃 I don't think Sophie is hearing me telling her to get her shoulders back - guess my advice is getting lost in the miles between New Zealand to Canada😉 Lady looks so happy & content in her lovely new life❤️
Sophie & Lady were so classy. Lady is doing so well & it makes me smile when I see her lowering her head. It is as if she forgets she doesn't have to hold her head up & then when she remembers she lowers her head & I can almost hear her saying "wow, that is so much better!" I can also see how Sophie's confidence encourages Lady as well as how Sophe's trust in Lady builds her own confidence.
Hey Sophie congratulations on your place at the show today. You were the only one that looked so beautiful. And Lady Bug 🪲 too. And I hope you guys get better soon. All my 💕🥰❤️🤗💖❤️ to all.

Wow they charge to go into the fair grounds being a competitor. Question. Why does Sophie lean forward when posting. Her horsewould be more relaxed if she sat straighter while posting. Leaning forward cause her to thing predator fight mode. Good job Sophie

Poor horse....when a rider doesn't have enough respect for themselves not to be morbidly obese, why make the horse suffer? Save a horse, put the fork down

Laura that is definitely a beautiful sunrise that you took a video of. Have a good Sunday.
I much prefer the country life. I’ve done both.
