    Don't second guess it. It was a good decision. It wasn't made from fear it was made from feeling that neither you or Addie were in the right frame of minds. It's a win in knowing both you and her.

    Don't stress we have all had those days. I've learned that every time I don't listen to my gut I get hurt or my horse gets hurt so you made the right call. And I mean every time I ignore my gut something bad happens, so I listen to that feeling always. ❤

    I have also recently been told ‘the Horse mirrors You not the other way round’ which is probably true.
    She looks fine just tense but she has gone a lot better for you recently so I guess that will have got under your skin.
    Glad you had such lovely support.
    Also I have always been impressed in your vlogs with your organisation and planning. I think you are very on it! Just to counter Susie’s comments! 😂

    It’s ok to feel disappointed … it’s ok to be a feeling / living being! Neither is or our horses are robots so emotions are natural and you don’t have to kick yourself out of feelings. Trusting your gut is always good. In medicine we talk about when you ‘trust your gut’ it’s actually that your brain is filtering subconscious clues and giving you ‘gut feeling’ … ❤

    Trust your gut! I haven't ridden competitively, but I did do several road-races in preparation for my first (and only, so far) half marathon and yeah - you've got to trust your body's reaction, as subconsciously you're picking up things that you don't realise. A safe Affie and a safe Emily is the most important thing!!

    We’ve all had days like that. I had one back in July after traveling nearly 6 hours for a competition and my girly was not giving off the best vibes and for the very first time I was terrified to throw a leg over her. But I told myself to push through and I regret that decision as we had two horrible rides that ended in tears of frustration. I’ve since learned to really trust my gut and that had us changing our trajectory for the rest of the year, but we’ve had nothing but positive results since 😊

Not sure if you have tried but is Addie on any hormone supplements? my mare can be very much like Addie, particularly in her first season and her last season, I have her on Premier Performance Sassy Mare plus and Nupafeed MAH, this really helps her. If you haven't already, maybe this might help. Don't over think and thank you for posting when it does not go to plan ❤

    sometimes dye is put in water, especially shallower ponds of still water to stop pond weed and algae growing - you wouldn't want your horses legs to get wrapped up in pond weed, and some algae can be toxic to animals if they drink any (like dogs, no idea about toxicity to horses).

    You might feel it was the worst lesson but you've gotten to learn something from this experience and so has she. She has the opportunity to trust you to listen to her signals of hey this is uncomfortable and you get to explore how many more signals she has on a deeper level and pick them up before you end up all the way at a competition with a spicy horse that's sore. I watched as you finished your test. Gave rein, relaxed. She relaxed. I would think she might be tight through the brachiocephalicus, possible other places/muscles. I noticed on your last event with show jumping, that she stopped around that time being able to tuck herself as needed on landing through the loin and croup area. That doesn't mean her loin or croup are sore. It could be compensation from the opposite end of the horse. Think about what muscles land bounce and contract then snap back upon landing or any other paces during flat work.. bending? Neck stiff or body stiff through bend? I wanted to mention something then but I already know how my unwanted opinion will be taken already. You're a far neater rider than I am but I know biomechanics of the equine. Love your chanel. Long time watcher.

    • @naybellab2011
      @naybellab2011 2 месяца назад

      I just wanted to add. After I meet a clients horse whether new or old, I give them a go over from head to toe with my eyes, asymmetry of muscles is assessed, then walked and trotted out. Afterwards the pampering starts, I'm calm speak more quietly or offer silence. Gentle long strokes while asking the owner questions about what trouble they're having, riding or not. The way a horse tells you something is wrong with their muscles is through biomechanics. (As long as your issue is muscle related from atrophy and I'll fitting tack it's even caused by the rider and HOW they ride but that's another topic)
      You'll find each discipline will have it's common ailments when you're an equine sports therapist BUT eventing is multi. You're more likely to find more unusual tears or odd out of place pains because of the gymnastics and strain they go under during an event especially without rest. Do NOT be hard on yourself about it. It's just learning. With high performance horses (I consider eventing especially if you do it right you're going to have a high performance horses) I massage them like I'm on call (however my hours and body doesn't stretch that far) some horses maintain well, 6 weeks when working correctly on the flat and doing the physio exercises I tell them to do as well as stretches they only need a small go over. Others have frequently recurring muscle strains. Some therapist choose to come out more often and keep it treated but what it tells us is something isn't quite right somewhere if this muscle keeps taking such a load let's find out why... Not all massage therapist have the same training. I know I've got more to learn. Take what you will from all of that.
