I am still in admiration of Helen Mirren's make over in The Duke. She submerges into these roles of non-glamorous women so well. It's part of what makes these movies better. "Anna" escaped my attention but I'll be looking for this one.
Yeah , Helen Mirren is SUCH a great Actor . She BECOMES the Person she is portraying . Movie Star style .
Rather than pretending to BE someone , but rather pretending that someone IS THEM . Subtle but Real differentiation .

@@ingekussing1720 So what you're saying is that Helen Mirren IS a big name Russian actress? I love it. But seriously, she got cast because she is a big name actress who people pay money to see. I can't think of a single famous Russian actress that has the credentials as her. There might be a few, but nobody in America or England has heard of them.
I don't care if her accent isn't perfect. I like most movie goers am not an expert on accents and it sounds Russian to me. The point more than anything is, like always, she burns up the screen when she's on it. Anna was lucky to get her and you don't look a gift horse in the mouth. She is still one of the best actresses working today and one of the greats of all time. You know the sign of a great actress? If you're still be constantly cast for quality work past 40. Helen clearly has never had that problem.

not worth the film its printed on...too much wasted bloody violence...give this girl another role where her talent isn't wasted etc... cillian and mirren...come on.
The only thing that didn't ring true was when her handlers sabotaged her first assignment "as a test." Bull. You don't teach a trainee to distrust their handlers. But what do I know? I just know it didn't ring true.

Somebody seriously made this movie to try to jump start a pretty girl's acting career... And women till this day will claim to have no power. Beautiful women especially, in their fertile years, have more power than emperors and kings.

I'm usually pretty sensitive to 'woke' and I didn't see it that way. It was more like a plagiarized "La Femme Nikita." But it's not like Star Wars or Disney where "You see? You had the power inside you all along!" is a major theme, creating "Mary Sue's" left and right, who are just, you know, better than everyone and girl bosses.
They show the hero's arc, starting out humble, entering a crisis, going through years of rigorous training.
I didn't feel like Helen Mirren was a "diversity hire" in the Soviet Union. More of a ruthless climber with real field experience. Not somebody who me-tooed all her bosses.
