I love the first pink & blue mugs, especially the one with legs. The life is good, love the colour, hows about ' grateful for every day', as another one ( just a suggestion!) I love little quotes. Carry on being creative Suza. 😊
I will make other spoons with less weight. An then I will try it again. How do you lay them down? Can you glaze them both sides? Cheers and thank so much for your help
1 is also my favorite. Thank you Erika for your support. There were some tears of joy this morning when waking up and reading the comments. I knew that people who are interested in pottery are always kind and supportive but I didn't expect such an amazing feedback. Thank you so much and have a wonderful day. Suza
@@momadhis me too. The mug found a new home real quick. I don’t sell my mugs but people who take one of my cups donate for my kids home project in Africa. That is a win for all of us 💪🏻
Greetings from Mississippi, USA! I just subscribed to your channel. I love your enthusiasm and love for pottery. I have only been doing pottery for about 2 years and I absolutely love it! I always use wax resist on the bottom of my mugs. It helps keep the glaze off the bottom. Thanks for sharing your lovely creations!😊
Thanks for your reply. I’m so glad that there are people like you who watch my videos. I’m also addicted to such kind of content. And those videos made me want to do my own. To share what I do and to share my love for pottery 🙏🏻❤️
Hi Suza, I consider myself new at pottery too ( 3+ years now). I know how you feel when things come out of the kiln wrong. There is SO MUCH to learn. I have started to read the labels of the glazes to try and figure if they run or not. That help me a little... but now I and trying to write down what my experience have been with the different glazes. Even though I do not like an unglazed line on the bottom. I have been leaving (about half centimeter) clear at the bottom. Applying wax resist before ( on the area you want to keep clear) helps to keep it clear from glaze and helps keeping the glaze from running too. I love the work you are doing, you are very creative.
@@momadhis hello Adhis, 3+years and still a beginner. I can feel it. That’s why I love it so much because it doesn’t get boring. So much to experience and so many kind people to learn from. Thank you for your comment. I appreciate your support 🙏🏻 cheers Suza
If you can get Amaco glazes, maybe try Jade celadon. It’s a beautiful translucent green color that would show your texture and lettering. A lighter celadon color would work great over your sweet koala too. Hope that helps a little. 😊
I'm so happy about get such a lovely support. I go to Cologne today. And because I'm such a blessed person, there is a pottery supply shop on the way. Guess what I will do. I will definitely look for Amaco glazes. I also ordered Coyote glazes to my Hotel in the US, because in 2 weeks I'm on vacation in the midwest. Can't wait.
I think GLAZING is the most difficult part of the process ... and I've been making pottery for 30 years! This kiln opening reminds me so much of my early ceramic days. A couple of suggestions, even though you use cookies, you can still put kiln wash on the cookie. Also, while you're learning about glazes, you could leave the lower part of your vertical pieces (mugs) without glaze and do an oxide wash. Inscribe a pattern into the raw clay and put glaze only on the top 3/4 of the mug. Brush on an oxide wash on the lower part and gently wipe it off, leaving oxides in the inscribed area. Red iron oxide is easy to find. DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED! This is all part of the process of learning! Best of luck!
Dear Barbara, I can’t be more grateful for your advices. Thank you so much. I’m happy to hear that you do it for such a long time. It doesn’t get boring. I think that’s why I love it so much ❤️ Can’t wait to load the next kiln with so much more new knowledge bombs. I appreciate that a lot.
I fire with 60 Grad celsius/hour until 110 Grad Celsius and then with maximum heat until 1230 Grad Celsius (that must be a cone 6) with a 20 minutes hold. Normal Cool down.
My best lessons have been my mistakes. Keep at it. I always put “cookies” under my mugs that are thick and smaller than the mug bottom. The drips will not reach under it to melt into the cookie…then you can always grind the drip away from your mug. Hope I made sense!
I had to laugh as you tested how your spoons worked. Did it taste good? There are cookies people use that are a round disc and have like a tube attached in the center. So the piece is raised and glaze drips go on the flat part. The glazed piece is raised it doesn't stick. It's so sad when one has no control over cracks etc. But still, I can see how lovely they turned out ignoring the faults. As we say we learn by our mistakes. Happy potting
Dear Evelyn. You can not imagin how happy I was this morninng waking up and reading comments filled with so much love and helpful tips.I saw those kind of cookies. I'll better start making them. But good news. I could fix most of the mugs, which were connected with the cookie. My dad is a hero. Whenever I bring him those fails he finds a way to fix it. Wish you a great day and thank you for your support. Suza
I used MAYCO Copper wash with all the letters I stamped in. I think that some of the glazes changed their behavior because of that. They ran more than they normally do. One girl in the store said, that I better use something else as an underglaze.

LOVE that pink on the cup you pulled out second. Great combo! And your big blue spoon is SO ADORABLE!!! I'm going to make one right now!
I’m also happy that the spoons worked out so well. It was just a first try. I will definitely make more 🥰

You are Probably right. I will try to make something out of the mug. I kiln god would be nice. ☺️

I like the green on mug 1, but I like your LIFE is Good mug better. You should use that on the SCM mug. I love the pink mug!
Whenever there is a mug like the *life is good* one I am really proud. I gave it away as a birthday present. I only can do that if I like it.

Use a dremel tool to get the drips off. Maybe you can save some. Also leave a rim on your mugs about 1/2 inch on the bottom.
Hello Denise. I really saved a lot of the mugs and I’m happy that I could fix all the dripping with grinding 🙏🏻 next time I’ll be more careful

Hi from Nova Scotia Canada I'm just wondering what cone you are firing to.
Love your work and your enthusiasm.
Hi, I fire to a cone 6. (1230 Celsius with a 20 minutes hold) 🙏🏻
What underglaze did you use? I want to stay far away from that one
I used Mayco Copper Wash.
PS. Please share the temperature/cone you fire to. Plus what type of kiln do you use? Danke

I know you said, but I'm not hearing very well... why are they running so much? You saying because of the something wash...
