Amazing GLAZE COMBINATIONS with my NEW Glazes from the US. #pottery #kilnopening #ceramic #mugs
I am Suza from Magdeburg Germany and I am quite new in this whole Potter Community. This is Another Kiln Opening Video after a while. It''s the first time I used cones to see the Heat work. I used so many different NEW glazes and Glaze Combinations with fabulous results. I am so happy with all the Mugs, Cups and Bowls which came out great. Although I am still learning, like all of us, I can see a Progress already.

I ordered different glazes but they don't deliver to Europe. That's why I traveled over the Atlantic Ocean to pick up the glazes I was dreaming of for so long. Unboxing the parcel was such a pleasure. I am now excited to bring this treasure home to Germany.
BRILLANT KILN-UNLOADING. I'm happy that after the fuse has blown almost everything worked out great

After Glaze Firing where the fuse has blown the glazing results are better than I expected. I used so many different glazes and Glaze Combinations with fabulous results. I don't think Green crystal glaze is food safe so it's not safe on the inside but fine on the outside. Really nice work!
Can you share how you got the tin can lines on the Claudie mug? It turned out beautiful. Lots of nice glazes in this load. I am the same half of my stuff turns out and the rest doesn't. I am still learning and experimenting too. Best of luck with your surgery and look forward to your next unload.
Sorry to hear of your health journey - sending healing thoughts from New Zealand 🥰 oh I love the Claudi mug too - so pretty 💕🥰
New Zealand? That is on the other side of our beautiful planet. I can't believe it and my husband either. I am happy that the Internet makes it possible that people can connect whereever they are. Thank you so much for your words. That gives me support and hope. Much Love Suza
@@susanroswandowicz I love that RUclips etc connects like minded people no matter where they are from in the world 🥰💕🌏
Very pritty works Suza. The last mug for your friend is really a topper 🎉 I wish a good recovery for you. Get well soon. Greetz Sheila Netherlands 🌷 ♡
Oh Sheila, thank you so much for your words. I appreciate it. I am a fighter and will come back stronger. Much love Suza
@@susanroswandowicz please let us know how you are okay? Stay strong 💪 A sketch book while you are bound to bed, maybe gives you a little distraction to create new clay ideas and items......? We think of you ♥
Your work is getting better all the time. The mugs look great. Good luck with your surgery.
Thank you Linda. I appreciate your wishes a lot. much Love Suza
Hi There, What lettering do you use please? I love the size?
I bought it at Etsy. You can find it there at StampmateCo. They offer 2 Fonts in many sizes.
Hello my dear Suza; You give so much to others. I am so sorry to hear about your health problems. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Wishing you the best. I am a handbuilder. New to pottery. I have been teaching myself for 3 years. I have been trying to teach myself how to throw pottery on the wheel. Hard. I regularly fire to cone six to a hot cone six. So, I have chosen clays and glazes that respond the best to a cone six. I think once you discover your ideal temperature for your clay and glazes. Please keep us posted on how you are doing: even if its just a short. Sending you hugs from far away. Chris Sanders
Dear Chris, thank you so much for your wishes. with a little distance I found out that this diagnose was something positiv in my life. In the past my focus was on so many drama and little Problems I've tried to solve. Now everything is different. I enjoy life to the fullest and don't let those little annoying things dictate how I feel. That is such a progress I made in my life and I won't go back to normal as soon as I am done with the surgery. Have a wonderful day and thanks for your suppoert. Suza
Hi Suza, I am sorry to learn about health concerns, I hope you get well soon. I love to see how you have persisted and progressed in this clay adventure! I love your mugs at 23:56, 26:19, 29:01 (the crystals WOW) but definitely Claudi"s mug turned out the BEST! The mug at 30:30... I think you could try to apply each glaze in a wavy pattern meeting or/and overlapping, perhaps that will give you the result you wanted. I will await with anticipation for your next video. much love.
Thank you so much. I’m so happy for the love and support you give me. I can't tell how much that affects me. I will definitely come back stronger. The surgery will be end of August. After that I am ready to heal and live my new life. Big hug Suza
It is amazing to see your progress, your pottery is very beautiful
Thank you for watching, Erika. I appreciate that. Much love Suza
Suza so sorry to hear about your health challenges. The clay will be waiting for you when you heal and I will look forward to seeing what you create after your surgery 😊. I’m amazed to see how quickly your skills are growing! Your new letter stamps look great! The mug for your friend Claudi is stunning! Take good care! Sending healing thoughts your way
Hello Lisa, thank you so much for your thoughts and wishes. We all have to go through tough times from time to time. I'm sure I'll make it. I get so much support from this community. The small bowl is really nice, unexpected, but nice! The mug on the other hand didn't handle the heat so well... 😅

Hi Suza. Thanks to video. Claudi mug is awesome. Johanna from Finland
Hello Johanna, you are definitely the first person I know from Finland. I travelled a lot but I never made to Finland so far. It’s on my list. Thank you so much for watching 🙏🏻
Love you
Love you even more ❤️
Hi There, What glaze do you use inside your text please? Thanks
I used Mayco Copper wash. But because of so much running I will change to Mayco Stroke and Coat in black with my next pieces.
@@susanroswandowicz Amazing! Thank You.
Your thrown mug is exquisite. Keep propelling yourself to sit at the wheel.
I definitely will. It's always a big mess. But without going back on the wheel I wont get better. So There will be a next time 🥰
Thank you for sharing! ❤
Ellen, thank you for watching. I appreciated that a lot. Suza
First time watcher! Thank you for sharing❤
Hi Ellen, thank you for watching. There will be another Video soon. Because of Health issues I was not able to glaze. But I'm back and happy that you are watching... Cheers Suza
Love your mugs and your adventurous use of glazes! But I love your smile best!! Keep at it. Thanks.
Thank you so much for such a feedback. I hope my smile will come back with my next kiln opening tomorrow. Tough times right now but it only makes me stronger.
Hello, I so appreciate the time and effort you put into your videos. Thanks for sharing.. For platters or plates :I do not glaze the bottom and fire them in a 1/4 inch of silica sand. I make sure my clay has been compressed in making. It is good to know we all have mishaps. Looking forward to the next video
HELLO, and thank you so much for watching and your good tip with the platters. I will try to get the sand you were talking about. Today I will load my kiln again after a long time. Can't wait for tomorrow for the Opening and the results. Hope you will watch 🙂
My best lessons have been my mistakes. Keep at it. I always put “cookies” under my mugs that are thick and smaller than the mug bottom. The drips will not reach under it to melt into the cookie…then you can always grind the drip away from your mug. Hope I made sense!
That makes so much sense. It’s time to produce some thick cookies. Thank you so much for your help. 🙏🏻

Sei un mito grazie per tutto e soprattutto per i tuoi insegnamenti❤@@susanroswandowicz
I test all my mugs after firing by putting hot water in them. If the clay isn't fired to the required temperature to vitrify it, it will weep and you will get moisture under the mug. All clays have a certain temp for vitrification so you have to look at that when you buy it. Also, for dinnerware I look for clay that has an absorbtion rate <2%. A lot of clays will absorb water up to 20%. I accidently bought cone 9 clay when my studio only fire to cone 6. All my mugs were weeping it really sucked. I didn't have any cone 9 glazes nor a place to fire that hot. Now I am very careful about what clay I buy. Nice pieces!
I appreciate your help. Thank you so much. Will check all my different clays. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Lovely work.
Thank you so much ☺️
I love the mugs you painted on. The glazes are perfect even though they aren't bright. The colors and hues all work well together. I love the white one that you refired with peacock inside. I think it looks great.
That is so nice of you. Thank you so much 🥰
You are really getting so good !!!
Thank you so much. ☺️
:) pot at 4:01 ran... but didn't mess your shelf. 👍🏻 Mug at 5:10 looks good, It could find a nice home. Love your little plates! Any time you use flux you can expect movement like on your pink mug, I still love the glazes you put together.
Thank you for sharing!
My pleasure. Thank you for watching. 😊

aaawwww...that baking dish would have been SO LOVELY! I love the colors, but so sorry it warped so badly in the kiln! New to your channel and just subscribed! hoping to see more of your kiln openings! You have a friend here in New Jersey, USA....just keep potting, do not give up!
@@Mariede425 dear Marie, thank you so much for the wonderful words you sent. I promise you that there will be more kiln opening video. I have a suitcase full of glazes I will bring home from the US in 8 days. I’m already longing for going back home to put my hands on the clay. You are my first Jersey friend. That is special to me. 🙏🏻
Hi from Oregon, USA. I enjoyed your video. How old is your son? I’m teaching one of my grandsons. My hand built mugs don’t come out round, either, because the clay has a memory. I hope you’re having a wonderful time on your trip! Which part of the US are you visiting?
Hi Mary?! We Are in las Vegas Nevada right now. We’re going to Utah and Arizona for the next 10 days. My son is 17. Because of him I started doing pottery. I just wanted to spend some time together and booked a pottery class with him. That was the beginning of the journey. Now we have our own wheel and kiln. And we have a lot of fun. How old is your grandson? Does he love it too?
@@susanroswandowicz My grandson is 14 and he enjoys working on the wheel. I can see him improving every week. My kiln is large and we almost have enough for his first bisque fire. Your English is very good. I hope you have a wonderful time on your vacation!
I love the pink and supernova combination
@@momadhis me too. The mug found a new home real quick. I don’t sell my mugs but people who take one of my cups donate for my kids home project in Africa. That is a win for all of us 💪🏻
Hi Suza, I consider myself new at pottery too ( 3+ years now). I know how you feel when things come out of the kiln wrong. There is SO MUCH to learn. I have started to read the labels of the glazes to try and figure if they run or not. That help me a little... but now I and trying to write down what my experience have been with the different glazes. Even though I do not like an unglazed line on the bottom. I have been leaving (about half centimeter) clear at the bottom. Applying wax resist before ( on the area you want to keep clear) helps to keep it clear from glaze and helps keeping the glaze from running too. I love the work you are doing, you are very creative.
@@momadhis hello Adhis, 3+years and still a beginner. I can feel it. That’s why I love it so much because it doesn’t get boring. So much to experience and so many kind people to learn from. Thank you for your comment. I appreciate your support 🙏🏻 cheers Suza
I love the mug and the spoon SCULTURE !! I think that if I would have tried it on purpose ... it wouldn't have come out this good.

Yay! Fun glazes!
I’m so excited to use them. 🫶
Put square dish straight on kiln shelf, not glazed bottom, and use something so the clay can move a bit. Dont use stilta.
I will definitely try this next time. Thank you so much. I appreciate it. I am so glad that everyone is so supportive. Have a wonderful day. Cheers Suza.
Not all of them but some 🙏🏻
