Thanks for this video!! I just went though the process of making my own panels. I used Rockwool Safe n Sound and the dimensions were 48”x17”x3”. So a little thicker but smaller panels than the ones here. After I made 6 of them, I came to the same conclusion that it wasn’t worth my time and that there really wasn’t any money saved. They were a lot of fun to make, and I learned some new things, but with being a dad, church volunteer, and working full time.. yeah, not worth the time investment.

😅 No disrespect but this just sounds like an ad! Even in todays economy with inflation and so on you can definitely build quality diy acoustic panels for cheaper than pre built ones. With the right research for materials and taking your time to craft quality panels it can definitely be alot cheaper!
Unfortunately most people even with the proper material and knowledge are going to rush it and end up with bad quality panels. So my advice is to research and buy quality materials then once you have thise materials please everyone take your time researching and practicing how to build the panels to be quality!
I understand time is money but in the long run if you take the time to do what I just said it will also become a skill for you which if wanted you can use to make money doing side jobs for people, so in the long run those few hours you spent learning the craft could become a new source income. Too each there own tho I understand some people would rather just cough up the money and get them from a "professional" thats fine but stop discouraging others from learning a new skill that could make them profit in the future! 😊

This video is a promotion for ATS Acoustic Panels and we do get a kickback from purchases. That being said, we only work with them because we truly believe they have a great product that's worth the money.
We made this video to show that building them is not necessary to save money. We are all for learning new skills like you mentioned, but not everybody has the time or the desire to do so when it comes to sound panels. For some people, building them is the better option, for others buying them is.

I moved into a condo with terrible reverb. I'm having the wall applied art be acoustical panels. My digital photos sent to Acoustimac are printed on acoustical cloth at a cost of $16 a sq foot. I got a case of 2 x 4 Owens Corning 703 panels (1" thick) that netted out to $12.50 per panel. Two 1x 8ft long strapping material, carefully selected at the home center made my frame ($4). I used cardboard from furniture boxes I had to be the backing for the frame. I have lots of good photos that are looking great on the walls and curing the echo effect in the space. I going to make smaller sizes using pizza boxes. The solid fabric costs about $12 - $14 a square yard and is a lot cheaper than custom printing.

I just made 8 panels. Bought all materials - including Rockwool - for 228 dollars Canadian. Add 20 for material, and I still came in at $32 each. I couldn’t access your materials list without putting my email in, but you must have priced some high end wood, etc.
In any case, it was an interesting video. Be well.

Thanks for the info! We build a lot of them (wood we already had and free labor), but wondering if there is a quality vendor here in Hungary for our next phase (even though we have a lot of left over materials, it's manpower that's lacking here, now)

Not sure about builders in Hungary. You'll have to do a Google search and let us know!

DIY makes only sense for smaller rooms like home studios.
Having to do an entire venue is just madness unless you have a large team.
