Thanks for the great video! I will be doing the same repair soon. One question, in your video at 8:00 min mark after you took transmission hose off, it appeared you lost good amount of fluid. How do I refill the transmission oil?
You have to refill it from the drain plug I now it sounds crazy but, you have to send fluid through your drain hole into your transmission until it start siping out from the same hole. Wait for a little bit when the drip slows down, put the plug back in and that’s it. I hope this helps
@@Ivan_Neykov Did you refill your transmission fluid? If not, is everything going well with your car? Maybe I will skip that step if there are no implications. Sorry, it was hard to see in the video. The transmission fluid which came out, was it from the hose connected to radiator or whatever is inside the radiator?
No worries, my friend you can ask me anything I’m here to help as much as I can. So yes, all the oil that came out it was from the hose and from the radiator maybe in the video seems to be a lot, but I think it wasn’t that much to the point where it will infects the transmission or ruin it But again, this is my opinion and I’m not a mechanic. and for your second question no I don’t feel any difference and there is no change in the way how the car drives. but in the same time, I’m planning in the nearest future to do Service on the transmission, oil and oil filter and clean up my transmission solenoids, because sometimes I get a kick when the car shifts from First to the second gear but this is how I bought the vehicle and if you look online seems this is A common issue with this transmission. i’m just trying to say I will refill the transmission oil in the next 10 to 20,000 miles
Awesome video, quick question… my 08 GL450 leaks coolant from the small hose (drivers side) that goes from the radiator to the reservoir of the power steering pump. This small hose has a copper nut or nipple attached on the radiator. My question is… does this small hose has an O ring? Or why does it leaks from that nipple?
I’m not really familiar with the 2008 but if there is a copper boat that means that it shouldn’t have a O-ring it should be like a crash in washer. but take it with a grain of salt because I’m not a mechanic and I haven’t really work with this type of a vehicle.
No, it’s not that easy first you have to slide it to the left to be able to drop the notch underneath your cooling pipe on the right and then after wiggling, you should be able to drop it down
@@Ivan_Neykov I am trying but not being successful yet. Should be slide in the grove on radiator? Should I put bottom first buy tilting upper portion toward engine? I am really frustrated.
@@maviblue1168 I apologize for the late response but to your question no you have to wiggle your way into there grooves on the radiator and then on the very end just the bottom and then push everything down and lock it in place let me know how it went
@@Ivan_Neykov Thank you. I was not able to put it back back. I ended up removing coolant hoses on both sides of radiator then was able to put fan assembly in place :) It was real pain. Hi you doing man? You mentioned the 2 hoses for the transmission oil, do I need to refill the transmission oil and how do I do it? I really appreciate your response. Thank you so much.
Hi my friend if you’re just changing the radiator The way how I did it it’s really not necessary to refill the transmission oil because you are not losing a lot of oil this is my opinion I didn’t at oil when I change my radiator. But if you decide to add oil to your transmission you need this special attachment that’s screwed to the drain hole so you can pump the oil into the transmission. Currently I am editing video with my wife Mercedes C300 where I am changing the transmission oil as soon as the video is ready I will let you know and show you what I’m doing if you really want to add oil. But again my opinion you’re not really losing a lot of oil from replacing the radiator.
Thanks for the response my friend I really appreciate it. My car is a Mercedes GL450 2016 I guess the process is pretty much the same, I’m gonna give it a shot. My radiator is leaking on the driver side top right, on the black plastic part. I’m gonna get the Siemens brand from Rockauto, I hope I don’t have to take the front bumper off. Thanks so much for your videos, they’re really helpful.
Hi is me again I want to get closer to you to fixing my Mercedes and I pay you I don’t want to go to the shop because they charge too much and wait too long days to get done thank you you very good video
Hello, I am sure you have figured this out by now. White crystal you are referring too is desicant (silica gel) bag that is inside the reservior tank to keep the coolant fresh. Once that bag bust it release the beads into the system and they clog the heater core, radiator and oil cooler. How I know this because I am dealing with this right now...did you lost the heat, how about after the replacement did it help the heat as I saw you have filter hooked up to the pipe going into the core. I have already replaced the tank so at least source is gone.
I am sorry to hear that. I figured it out barely yesterday because I called the dealership and I talk with technicians and he explained me that it comes from the expansion tank but he said that he never seen a vehicle that has this problem which is bizarre. So yes, I didn’t have heat in the car as well so I had to disconnect the two houses and run a garden hose and run water backwards on the core so I can blow out all of the stack Little crystals that they were clogging the core. Just a heads up, your front radiator is probably full with those crystals as well. Did you end up fixing your car radiator? Did you get the heat back into the car?
Sorry for too late reply here, dealer that I bought the car from flushed the coolant system including core twice, heat would come back but stoped fairly quick each time. In the meantime, I ended up replacing the water pump because pully was walking out, oil cooler radiator type box sit behind belt tentioner (little white cryatal stuff deposite in one opening) and plastic turbo lines. So another almost drain and replace of whole system. Finally dealer agreed to replace the heater core and expansion tank and another flush. Since the core and tank has been replaced heat has been super good since last winter and no issue this winter. In Minnesota, you can't survive long without heat in car. I did take the old tank apart and there was busted bag, source of problem for this whole mess. It was pain to deal with no heat and dealer but at the end it all worked and I made the dealer pay for all of this repair. Pump, oil cooler and turbo lines still cost me around 800 . Oh well
@@Ivan_Neykovnow why I came back to your video yesterday as I may end to replaceing the radiator as I am seeing transmission oil by radiator lower hose and startred with drop and now progressing little more. Not sure if it's coming from quick connect or one of the hose metal rubber clamp is loose. I don't think so there are o ring on lines, but there are maybe insire the radiator fittings. So did you lost alot of Tracy oil with line disconnect?
I am happy that you finally resolve the problem with the heat core and more happier that you made them pay. honestly, I didn’t measure how much I lost but I can say it wasn’t that much don’t quote me but I believe it’s less than a quarter. since that video, I still driving with The same amount of oil in the transmission I haven’t add any oil or anything and honestly I don’t see any difference. make sure when you disconnect the lines plug them as quick as you can so you can eliminate lost off oil as much as you can. Recently, I found in Home Depot in the hardware section. There is metric nuts and bolts in drawers on the bottom right drawer. There is different types and sizes plugs that you can use and plug the lines.
@Ivan_Neykov thanks, I will check home depot. Was there any play in cooler line quick connect? I am seeing about 1/8 in lower cooler line and its leaking. Longer cooler line going in side mounted metal box and small hose connectiong metal box to middle rad hole are connection r solid and no in out and movement at metal box. Small hose on rad middle hole coming from metal box move little and leak little too. I am confident the o rings r gone bag with hot and cold cyle plus minnseota freezing cold.
