Glad I watched this video before I started changing the radiator myself. Lol, I guess I have to take it to a shop. I don't have anything to recover the A/C. I also don't have anyone to help me with removing the bumper.
Thanks for sharing the video. Quick question: at ~10:30 you vacuumed the refrigerant. What if I do not have a vacuum pum? Can I just disconnect let the refrigerant out and have it refilled in a shop?
Thank you for watching. It’s doable but I don’t recommend doing that. You can get injured or hurt from the cold refrigerant and it’s also illegal to vent refrigerant to the atmosphere.
On that particular car the thermostat was changed not too long ago that’s why it wasn’t changed in the video but it’s a good idea to change it while you’re at it.
Great video, very helpful! One question, I just bought a 2013 Mercedes GL4.7 Bi Turbo. The temperature needle over middle a little is that normal? What temp does the high speed fan kicks in?
Can use an 8mm 1/4 socket if the etorx is to thick , Never used paper gaskets always metal ones had issues with them with my Toyota after that never again especially with coolant
Thanks for your video. I have to change the radiator of my 2013 ML500. When you disconnect the transmission and power steering connections, do you lose any fluid from the systems? Do you need to plug the hoses or top up either system? Thank you
Yes you definitely lose some, you should plug the hoses and you still have to top off the systems because you will lose whatever amount of fluid left inside the radiator it self when you change it. Thank you for watching and I do appreciate your comment. Plz let me know if you have any questions.
@@a2zautomasters862 thank you for your prompt reply. Your insight is greatly appreciated. It is the transmission fluid that concerns me the most due to the filling procedure. Thanks again, I will post and let you know how I go. Also I have only just found your channel and love the videos you make. They are very detailed, yet easy to follow.
How was the condition of the water pump? I approaching 176,000 and will need to do my radiator I think. small little leak on drivers side under the main hose where the metal meets the plastic. Any thoughts? Thank you for this video!
@ this kinda miles you should change the pump, the radiator, the thermostat and upper and lower radiator hose and call it a day and if you see any other coolant hose that doesn’t look too good, change it now.
Never ever purchase a MB. 1.) Changed out transmission $8.7 K 2.) Changed out rear suspension bladders. $ 2.5 K 3.) Changed out suspension compressor. 4.) Changed out front shocks.$ 2.5 K. 5.) Changed out suspension air block. 6.) Needs power steering pump and suspension all around. $ 5.5 K Do not buy a MB, up-side-down!
Yep I work on MB for a Living as a mobile mechanic. They are overpriced piles of crap. But keep in mind even the Honda dealership is just as expensive as Mercedes in many cases. They wanted $4000.oo to replace a catalytic converter On my wife’s odyssey. I did it myself plus a new 02 sensor for $300.00, factory sensor too, aftermarket but good quality cat from catco.
Don't buy cars you can't afford to maintain! I currently have 8 Mercedes Benz and NEVER ever had any issues, I'm my 30 years of ownership I have spent less than $2,500 on repair items.

Wow so much work to replace the radiator. A lot of other cars the radiator can be replaced by itself without disturbing AC system.
With your help.. I was able to pull this off in a day. Thank you!!! This video was so thorough. Bless you and thank you!!

For Mercedes-Benz that is normal.
German car in general operate at higher temps.

Hi, if all this is taken apart would it make it easier to change the engine mounts or will I need to go under the car and pull exhaust?
It will definitely be easier. You have a lot more room now but you still have to go under the car
Thanks for reply! What tool kit do you use to disconnect hoses.
@@Mikegubenko it’s a master disconnect tool kit that I’ve gotten from my SnapOn dealer.

When you disconnect the AC lines does it lose the AC charge?
Yes absolutely. You have to recover the R134a before you can disconnect the AC lines.

What are torque specs for Water Pump bolts?
Thank you ❤
I was curious about the green anti-freeze, it should be the black version and never the green universal anti-freeze, that's concerning.
Yeah in this business, I've seen ppl do all kind of things. Like mixing all antifreeze colors.
How much would a mechanic charge for suck work all together?
I am trying to change my water pump for my ml350 2009 I removed all 13 bolts but pump would not come off. Can anyone help please?
I believe it might be 14 or 15 bolts. U have one by the hose connection. Take a better look and let me know plz.
How do we get the one by the hose and behind the pulley. Both right next to each other
