I use FCP Euro also. And the life time warranty is awesome. Cost close to $80 for oil change and to mail all stuff back is abt $20 shipping . I feel this is a great deal. And your video is fine. I have a few GL450 videos myself.
I believe that's why at the end he says he is glad he bought the extra oil quart lol... he must be doing it every time before putting drain plug back haha... we all slip up every now and then... good video still :) haa
use oil extractor pump, and you don't have to lift the vehicle. and it will suck out more oil than through the drain plug in this model of mercedes engine.
@@bobbybuilds208 10 quarts oil extractor pump can be bought for around hundred twenty. but it only works with certain engines, not all. engines where the dip stick hole goes all the way down to the bottom of oil pan.
@@bobbybuilds208 An oil extractor costs about $100 with a hand pump. The ones that are attached to any small air compressor are about the same price or cheaper, but work even better.
Just buy it. When you go do your second oil change, put the old oil (which you put in during your first change) into the new containers and ship them back to FCP Euro
thanks for the video, very informative. one question: why you use Liqui Molly oil instead Mobil oir that recommend MB factory? im new MB owner and want to be sure to give the best products to my new baby, thanks in advance.
I’ve been using Liqui Molly for some time and have been really impressed with the results. Also, I am a huge fan of FCP Euro and they recommend these products as well as do the larger MB and BMW communities. It comes down to preference, I guess. Thanks for watching the video and for leaving a comment.
As long as you use a European Formula oil with correct viscosity and certifications, it should be OK. Mobil 1 European Formula 0W-40 is much more readily available in the US, especially at discount stores.

The newer drain plug and drain pans are polycarbonate (a strong type of plastic), so they specify that a new plug be used. If one has a model with a metal drain pan and metal plug, just replacing the crush washer is fine.
When i looked for oil filter for my 2011 gl.. on line it looked different than yours. Mine seemes to have a spire on the end of the filter. Did they change filters. Is the filter a fleece or paper filter
Some models (like yours) have the "spire" or shaft built into the filter, and the one in this video has the shaft built into to filter cap. It's always good if the RUclips video would specify the model year of the car being serviced.
@@bobbybuilds208 He is not talking about filter element, but the fact that some MB filter caps have a shaft, and some don't have a shaft but have a spire built into the filter itself.
Why in the world would they put the drain bolt on the FRONT of the pan. Most people raise the front of their vehicle to do oil changes. This would force il to the back of the oil pan and wouldn't drain out?!? 🤬

filter, tools, oil..I'm glad I saw this video.

Just curious why do you add oil to filter housing before replacing drain plug? doesn't it just run out?

Hello sir. Best oil for GL350 Diesel 2013 Bluetec? Liqui Molly or Mobil?
use oil extractor pump, and you don't have to lift the vehicle.
and it will suck out more oil than through the drain plug in this model of mercedes engine.
Unfortunately, I am home DIY guy and don’t have any specialty tools like an extractor pump. Would be cool to use one and would definitely save time.

Can you please show me how to register get free oils by send it back?
I found the website but where do I start?

Any one knows how to change the air filters? Looks very difficult task...
I did all the air filters as well as cabin filters on my 2008 GL450. There are very helpful youtube videos available, so check them out.
You didn't change the air filter
Correct. This video was to show how to change the oil.
Why, oh why does Mercedes have us change the drain plug with every oil change?
I think this helps reduce a change of an oil leak through the drain bolt thread. It’s cheap insurance.
You can get away with only replacing the crush washer.. the drain plug is optional.
The newer drain plug and drain pans are polycarbonate (a strong type of plastic), so they specify that a new plug be used. If one has a model with a metal drain pan and metal plug, just replacing the crush washer is fine.
Which engine is this for?
If I'm not mistaken a 4.7 liter

Did they change filters.
Is the filter a fleece or paper filter
I’m not 100% sure of the material used for the filter but it is closer to paper than it is to fleece. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.

Oil change this car was $510 in Mercedes Benz dealership
What a sucker
really
can you take it to 10 minute oil change
Ouch, that’s pricey. Doing the oil change at home saves a ton of time and money.

Agreed. It doesn’t make much sense. Hence the reason to raise the entire car evenly.
