  • The SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital has renovated the ICU for neonates to make it a more technical, safe and spacious space than the previous one. Thanks to the remodeling, this will be one of the largest intensive care units for premature babies in Spain. The space has 45 beds: 26 for critical patients, 18 for intermediate care and a simulation box. Of these boxes, two are equipped to be able to intervene on the babies without transferring them outside the Unit. The new space allows families to have more privacy, reduces the risk of infections and favors the success of breastfeeding. Each year, more than 400 newborns are admitted to this unit with prematurity, respiratory syndromes or infections and congenital malformations.
