Aw man, I was hoping for more. Come on China, I know you can do better than what basically comes down to a trambus with an on-board computer. Never mind the fact that these don't have the main benefits of trams, which are capable of changing on the rails while they ride around! China has been doing amazingly in rail transport and I want to see them apply it more! Not less!
@@esaw7067 It's also way less efficient and more cost-intensive over time. The US is not a poor country, they most certainly have the resources to invest in proper rail infrastructure. Something like this is more of an interesting option for emerging markets, like India and Nigeria.

Modified Busses into Virtual Rail Trains.....hmmm.....thinking outside the box for sure on this one....a little shift to the left sometimes is the best case scenario....
Apparently people in the comments don’t seem to understand how much more convenient these tram-buses are compared to other buses. Being only one storey, fully automated and having 3 articulated sections (which is uncommon in buses) is a Huge advantage for these tram-buses!!
Normal bendybusses have 2 articulated cars and trams do come with 3 cars. The wheels make it way less efficient. 80km range? How long is a recharge? A normal tram does not need recharging, and can be automated as well. Making it so you need more cars to maintain the same frequency compared to any other conventional solution with similar capacity. Its over-hyped chineses tech.
Free tire vehicles are still very much needed in remote areas or independent vehicles, city buses will clearly be the first to become extinct if limited mobility transportation such as trains runs at maximum Like domestic low-cost aircraft in Japan serving residents on the main island and other islands that are close to each other
@@hi9580, which busses do you ride on? Most modern busses are extremely smooth. There are massive fleets of Volvo & Mercedes busses conducting long-haul trips across Europe & Japan. They are smooth enough to play Jenga on.
Isn't this some sort of gadgetbahn? Don't get me wrong, most of Chinese things are excellent nowadays. But this isn't one of their best products. Why not make a bus or a real tram?
Literally what I thought. It’s just a driverless articulated bus. So a cheaper solution to expensive LRT. not bad for cities that need LRT but won’t pay the upfront cost or can’t rip up roads to build it. Still not something I’ll ever see built or operated within my own country Canada. North Americans like big subway trains on their own separate tracks. Roads are for cars and buses lol.
Non cinese ma sviluppato da matra e poi passato a Siemens fine anni 90. Uno dei problemi di questo sistema e' l'evidenziarsi dopo un po' di tempo di deformazioni del piano stradale di rotolamento salvo realizzarlo In c.a.
Not a Train/Tram, still a Bus. Even if it is a very nice one, it does not use rails. It uses roads. There can be good bus models, but please don't make shit up.
Very interesting that it is an autonomous articulated bus. Good Luck in it's use.
These look like excellent replacement than those free campus/airport shuttle that never show up on time.
An autonomous bus cruising around a campus or an airport does sound nice
Really happy to see cooperation between China and UEA , cooperation between south and south country , jiayou

Its estimated that this costs 1/5 the price of rail, for countries like the US where its hesitant to invest in trams, this is a viable option.
