  • Ler Htoo immigrated from Myanmar in 2009 when he was 18 years old. He lived in Saint Paul and attended Como High School before attending college. In 2014, Htoo became a Saint Paul police officer and not only was he the first officer of Karen descent in Saint Paul, he was the first known Karen officer in the State of Minnesota. There are approximately 20,000 people living in Minnesota from Myanmar and many of them live in our Saint Paul community.

Let Htoo is yet another inspirational American story that further proves America is the greatest country in the world. Where an individual can come here with literally nothing but his mind, body and spirit and live the American dream through hard work, dedication and determination. I also believe it’s Ler Htoo’s faith in God (Jesus) that is integral to his success.
What brought me here to watch this video is my inquisitive desire to learn who the Karen people are. I just happen to be visiting Minnesota and saw an old lady with a fishing rod who just came up from the banks of the Mississippi River to inquire if she caught any fish. She didn’t speak any English but I was able to talk to her granddaughter who was born here what their ethnicity is and what country did they come from. I never heard about the Karen people.
Congratulations to Ler Htoo on his promotion. May God protect him as he puts his life on the line to protect the citizens of St. Paul.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🇺🇸

@@jungle991 the country is formerly known as Burma and has since been renamed to Myanmar. I just learned that the Karen people have existed in that area of Myanmar and Thailand for 2,000 years. Because of war they have become refugees.
